Butterfly Jasmine

I’m not a big fan of green tea or tasting flowers, but I always have a soft spot for jasmine green tea.

Butterfly Jasmine tea is a bit expensive, but I use it as a nice tea to have on special occasions. It has a delicate green tea flavor that doesn’t get sickening to drink after each resteep. I just finished my 25g bag of this, and I’ll probably get some more the next time I visit their store.

Overall I think it’s a very likeable green tea, and it’s fun to watch the tea unfurl.

This tea is what got me fully hooked onto DavidsTea.
It’s amazing! It makes me feel so posh when I drink it. Like I’m Asian royalty or something.

The fragrance. I don’t know where to begin. It’s like drinking perfume, except the perfume is neither too weak or too potent. It does NOT give you a queasy feeling upon drinking or smelling.

It has a beautiful Jasmine taste and smell that is unparalleled by any other jasmine teas I’ve tasted in my lifetime. It brews to the perfection of a golden color. It is good for several steeps, and each time, the aroma manages to STILL linger in your mouth after a sip.

Amazing. So good. So expensive. So worth it.

Lately, I’ve been trying to drink A LOT more green tea for the skin benefits. I’ve even started using green tea as a facial cleanser/toner (It is amazing by the way!) by applying it topically to the skin. I am trying to get more into drinking the traditional teas as I believe they are the ones with the most health benefits as opposed to all the flavoured ones. This tea is really interesting both from the point of view of taste/smell as well as visually. The hand wrapped “butterflies” are so beautiful I almost feel bad steeping this tea lol!

The scent of jasmine is incredibly strong and seems to come out more once the tea steeps. I like that this tea is flavoured so naturally as opposed to added/artificial sweeteners or flavours. In terms of taste, I would say that this tea has an acquired taste. I definitely don’t think it is for everyone. I personally however, did not overly mind the intense floral notes of this tea. For me, it is a tea I would drink again but would not rush out to buy a tin or even a bag to have on hand.

I have just taken my first sip of this exceptional tea, and the first thing I thought was that I had to log on here just to review it.

My mouth is literally watering after having this with joy.

All I can say is that I recommend this tea, and you should really watch this tea unfurl. The elegance isn’t only in the taste!

Jasmine, very commonly seen with green tea. Probally too common that most of the commercialized tea bags are filled with low quality stuff; makes me hate it for a while.

However, I can see a lot of work has been put in to make this tea. They are rolled into rope-like knot(sorry, doesn’t look like butterfly to me). The jasmie flavor does not overpower the green tea. Not bitter at all. It is a very plesent experience because you not only smell the jasmin, but you also taste it. It’s very satisfying.

So far, it is the best jasmine green I’ve tried. It tastes exactly as it should. It’s just that, for this price, I was expecting something more.

PS: Steep time is gongfu style with 2 tsp.

This is probably my favourite of the Jasmines from Davids that I’ve tried so far. It is more mild and doesn’t make me feel like I’m drinking flower extract. It was lovely to watch bloom and I admire how beautiful the dry leaves are. Sadly, it was also the tea that secured that jasmine teas are not for me. I’ll keep this one for guests who do like it, but I probably won’t be brewing it for myself again.

Sipdown! This mostly got drunk as a work tea. It’s a solid floral. No weird edge or aftertaste, but also not the greatest jasmine I’ve ever had. Which is really the sweet spot for a work tea – good enough to be enjoyable but not so phenomenal that I want to pay more attention to the tea than the work.

So I knew I had written a note for this tea, and I could see that I had rated it, but for some reason my note doesn’t show up in the list on the tea page. It does show up in my tea log if I page back to the correct date. Strange.

Anyway, this is a nice jasmine tea. I got it with a Frequent Steeper redemption, because I’m always looking for teas to spend those on when I earn them from teaware purchases. Nice sweet and natural jasmine flavor. The butterflies do take a while to open up, which always makes me feel bad since I don’t generally resteep my tea, and they’re never fully opened on the first steep. Ah well.

I think this is a high quality jasmine tea, but I certainly wouldn’t pay the $25 for 50g of it. It’s a good option for reward redemptions, although I recently bought a bag of jasmine pearls from Teavivre, so I’m set in that department for a while.

First coldbrew of the year. Mixed with a bit of honey and added some tart cherry juice. Pretty tasty!

The Jasmine flavour is not overwhelming, however, the green tea is only slightly present, I wish it has a stronger green tea taste. The first and second infusion are watery, sweet, green and taste like Jasmine. The third infusion save this tea, with a mix of nutty and malty taste that were not present in the first and second infusion. This tea, is not enough complex or hasn’t enough flavours for me. The fourth infusion, taste only like jasmine and bitter. I think the price is too high for that one. I’m pretty sure you can find a better Jasmine tea with a more complex flavour and that linger more with a less watery taste, it taste too much just like Jasmine. WATER USED: Nestlé Pure Life. Brew western style at 185 F at 3:00 min, for each steep I add 30 sec. I may revisit this tea, and try to brew longer and change the temperature of the brew.
