OMG I AM IN HEAVEN. I decided to make this into a soy latte and add a little vanilla and mmm heaven in a cup. This tea is a delicious apple cinnamon flavour that reminds you of grandma’s famous apple pie. The soy milk and vanilla gives it a creamy flavour that tastes like a dollop of vanilla ice-cream on top of a slice of apple pie. So so sad that Teaopia is gone because now I want to buy a pound of this tea to engorge myself with.
Preparation
This Wonderful tea was given to me by Reasoned_Melody For the Christmas swap. I tried this at first Hot and then cold and both were wonderful! I love mango’s and was excited to see this tea!! you can both smell and taste mango ! it is a little bit more like dry fruit mango taste but i don’t mine :) wonderful tea thank you Melody!
Thank you Kittenna for this sample. :)
It’s feeding time in my household and all 4 of my kitties are letting me know how hungry they are. They have that ‘I haven’t eaten in days and I’m wasting away’ look on their little fluffy faces which any pet owner can relate with. I’m on the sofa not feeling well still so it’s about time I got up and killed two birds with one stone…so to horribly speak… by feeding my angels and making a cuppa at the same time. The Sangria was sent from Kittenna as part of a trade and it was the first one I pulled out of the bag to try.
It smells a little fruity raw but without much of anything else to really say about it other than it looks like dried fruit bits. A long steep of 6 mins as advised and I can note it forms a strong red colour with a slight fruity and somewhat winey fragrance.
First sip in and I can taste hibiscus…not exactly what I was hoping for. Beyond the hibiscus there is a fruity element that reminds me of grapes and apple so we have sour from hibiscus, sweet from the fruit and also a herbal touch which I can assume may be from the lemongrass.
It’s not sangria as such but I wouldn’t say it was a bad try. Definitely a summer time tea and it may even be better iced. The balance is mostly what ruins the tea as it’s very hibiscus heavy but it’s not the worst hibiscus tea I have tried. It’s at least manageable.
Preparation
Well, the tea smells great in the bag. I’m pretty sure I got this one over the summer to ice, but I don’t think I was that impressed with it, because there’s still quite a bit left! I used the super cool random tea chooser thing (found a link in the forums!) and it suggested that I drink this one. So I’m trying it again.
It smells of apples and spice, and that weird cherry flavour you get from cherry blasters (yeah, IDK). I’ve had to add a fair bit of sugar to it as it’s really quite tart, and basically tastes like hibiscus when plain. After adding a lot (Well, for me. 1.5 tsp of honey to 8 oz of tea. Yikes!) of honey to it, it tastes like sweet hibiscus tea with a hint of apple and spice. I agree with other reviewers that say the aftertaste is kind of perfume-y and floral. Not really getting cherries out of this.
Definitely won’t be repurchasing, and I might not actually make it through the rest of the bag. (As I’m sipping, I’m not even going to get through the cup. Maybe more dilute and thinned with lemonade it’d be good, but I can’t be bothered.)
Preparation
Just a small cuppa before my last exam. The smell is amazing – like summertime camping.
It’s definitely creamy and delicious – I’m not tasting too much chocolate but definitely the marshmallow. I only steeped it for 3 minutes, perhaps next time I’ll try a little longer.
Preparation
I really like this Chai I was very sad to see it wasn’t going to survive the transition from teaopia to teavana. I live in an area where I had easy access to both teaopia and teavana (before it got stores in Canada)and have tried the Black tea Chai from both places an I hated teavana’s Taj masala Chai but loved Teaopia’s Masala Chai. I am currently hoarding what is left of my teaopia chai until I can find something to replace it ( the closest I’ve found is from a little cafe in Windsor, Ontario called Taloola’s).
First impressions- I hadn’t tried Teaopia teas yet, as my usual is David’s, but I was in a mall where they only had one tea shop, and my sick boyfriend (poor guy) really wanted tea with lemon in it to soothe his throat, and this tea was on sale. It smells very good, incredibly sweet, and definitely both apples and pears are present in the scent.
How I prepared it- 1 cup with 1.5 tsp in it at 94 degrees for seven minutes.
First sips- Flavour tasted good but the payoff was disappointing compared to David’s (which I use three times before the flavour runs out). Would not buy again.
Preparation
When Teaopia was having their closing out sale during the Teavanna transfer, they had this on for 75%+ off, so I bought 1000g. Yes, you read that right, I bought an entire kilogram of milk oolong! Only cost me $40 and some change after taxes too!
I LOVE milk oolong, it’s the first thing I reach for when I need a cup of hot comfort. DAVIDs Quangzhou got me hooked, and I’m hoping to expand into others soon.
Now, I only have the Quangzhou to compare to, so take this with a grain of salt.
This seems like a greener, crisper oolong than the Quangzhou. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it, as it gave the tea a more buttermilky taste as opposed to the sweet creaminess I grew to love in the quangzhou. That’s when I learned about rinsing the leaves before steeping, and that made a whole world of difference! The sourness was gone and I was left with a nice sweet cup of milk oolong goodness, though not quite as strongly flavoured as the quangzhou.
It almost reminds me of a milky tie guan yin, which I actually quite like, oddly enough.
What does Java think of it? Well, he’s a funny little brat. The first time I offered him an oolong, he flipped the bucket over! Offered him this and he sniffed it for a minute, and then looked at me. I added a bit of cold water to it, thinking it was just too hot for him, and the little stink stuck his nose in and blew bubbles! He did end up finishing it off, but for whatever reason THIS was the one he had to play with first. Silly pony <3
I was a big fan of this tea, and had a supply both at work and at home. I like strong tea, and just found this one a little stronger than other jasmine that I had tried. Sadly, Teaopia was sold to Teavana, (which was sold to Starbucks), and they don’t seem to be carrying this blend anymore.
I wanted to review it anyway, kind of a homage.
Preparation
Travelling tea box!
How fun! I wish I could join the next one but funds just aren’t on my side lately, however, after taking part in one I can truly say that it is an AMAZING experience – not to be missed! ee!
I think I should have used more leaf for more flavour, however the small amount of flavour I did get was yummy! The marshmallows were perfect, and I love the balance of chocolate and graham. Sadly it was a bit watery (should have read the reviews first) – but I now know why this is a Teaopia tea to be missed!
I only have just over a teaspoon left, so I’ll mix it with Della Terra Smores tea because they will mix poifectly! :D
It would have to be one of my favorite rooibos teas. I love the floral lemony aroma. It definitely has a earthy flavors in it from the red rooibos needles. It is nice to have during the evening, it is also one of those “warm me up teas.”
Preparation
I requested a sample of this and Kittenna generously obliged. :) These little balls of herbs and sucrose sure are interesting. They unravel into yellow-ish green leaves that look like clovers. The aroma and flavor is very light. I used one ball in about 8 oz. of water. Anything less and I think this would be a flavorless cup of warm water.
As others have said, it does kind of remind me of green tea, but only because it’s not even remotely similar to any other type of tea. It’s not vegetal to me though nor is it herbal-y. This really does have its own unique taste. It also seems to have more flavor as it cools. I’m definitely getting more sweetness now too.
Interesting! I rate it slightly above average. Overall, it’s not something I would frequently crave. But I’m glad I got to try it because I would have remained curious forever. Thanks Kittenna!!
Preparation
I bought the remnants of this from Teaopia while visiting a store just before it became Teavana; it was very much a ‘well, why not’ purchase, and I haven’t been disappointed with it.
It is, like others have said, a very typical, sweet green tea. I think I may have steeped this just a bit too long because there’s a slight bitter undertone, but other than that, I’m happy with it. It’s not something I’m heartbroken over never being able to have again once I run out of the 50g I bought, but it is a nice green blend for those who like sweet teas.
