516 Tasting Notes
Sipdown!
We had a good run, cherry cheesecake green.
You were tasty. Creamy and sweet!
Wow I also have to highly recommend this delicious oolong!
I got the $1 pack from DT and steeped it for 5 minutes in my perfect mug. I haven’t had the chance to try multiple short steeps, but I did resteep the leaves for another 5 minutes after. Oh bliss!
A hint of mineral/rocky flavour and texture all wrapped up in a sweet blanket of rock sugar (let’s stick with the rock theme!) and it.. um.. ROCKS! I’m not getting any bitterness with 185 degree water – but definitely some sort of spice. Not getting any floral notes at all.. hmm what is that spice… it definitely has a kick! I’ll keep thinking about it :)
Okay, I finally got the recipe up!
So this is the recipe I tried for my first attempt at Zombie Gingerbread Men – of course ALL credit goes to aisling of tea for this incredible idea! You rock my world, gal pal ;)

The ginger flavour was very prominent, and I did sprinkle them with some Madagascar vanilla matcha, which I think remains my favourite matcha to bake with.
I am lucky friends!
Our DT in the mall received this by mistake! They have to send it back because they don’t have a tin for it – but in the meantime… we get to drink it! And buy it… so it’ll probably be gone in no time and they will have nothing to send back. Yay!
mmmmm
It is SO good! I was a little scared because I got it to go, but then headed downstairs and had to do a bunch of work errands, so it had steeped fr about an hour. O_O Took a sip to prepare for the bitterness – of which there was none.
There was a sweetness, like honey! There was a maltiness and a smooooothness from the yummy black base – and a brightening sharpness from the jasmine. I say sharpness, but actually the Jasmine is really the perfect amount. It doesn’t overwhelm, it just dances along with the rest of the notes and makes me happy.
I need these in my life! No money though (I got my mug for $1 with the promo!) – but I’ll have to make an online order in time and I might just pop some of this in it. mm!
Spring Garden got them too (for good!) Just a heads up – I just went in and picked some up. Expensive, but light and the sales assistant said that 2 pearls will do a cup!
niiice! Oh I can totally see that – I had 5 pearls for my rather large travel press and it was more than enough. I bet they last forever if you keep re-steeping them too!
Thanks for the heads up, now I know where I can get my fix ;) Now.. to find that genmai hojicha…
I made some cookies today with this one!
I didn’t think they were that good, but the people I brought them for loved them! I’ll put a “recipe” up on the blog soon – at least they were fun to play with!
Okay – so after receiving my KaiMatcha and tasting that amazing flavour – I was craving more of it!
Just one sniff of the dry leaf of this great quality Gyokuro was enough to know that this would cure my umami craving.
I made a huge 40oz pot of it (huge because I was all by myself lol) and starting drinking it like it was going out of style. Oh my – so savoury. It tasted like fresh green grass, but it wasn’t at all bitter. There was a slight astringency at the end of the sip – but oh so slight (I brewed at 175 for 2 mins!)
The scent was so fresh and summery – this is a very special tea. I can’t wait to try the method of brewing with just the tea leaves and icecubes. That concentrated flavour is exactly what I’m craving!
Thanks for reminding me! I keep forgetting that I have green apple matcha and caramel!
O: do eet. It’s so good!
