516 Tasting Notes
Thanks BoxerMama for day #3! My tasting note is late but I drank it on the day. mm I loved the smoothness – I’m always excited to try teas from H&S because they’re so hard to find here!!
This one did not disappoint – very prominent smooth base with sweet black currant notes to add a hint of mystery! Love!

Drinking my resteep – you know that song feels just like I’m walkin’ on broken glass (Marry me Annie Lennox!) that’s how my feet feel after 2 10 hour days. So! To celebrate coming home, I had a bath (duh) and am drinking a resteeped pot from this morning! Yum!
I feel like this tea is juuuust right. :)

If you visit my blog post it has all the individual art work from the tea swap packages! :D
Wow. This tea swap looks pretty crazy. I can’t imagine all the work everyone put into it so far. :) It’s fun reading along.
It’s pretty exciting! I love having tea chosen for me instead of picking it myself, I wish it could happen like that all the time haha! <3
Home from work!
Today I brought this one with me – it was SO good paired with my spicy pad thai from Thai express! Quenching, delicate but full of flavour – and man did I EVER get a kick out of today’s 3rd day of Christmas from LiberTEAS!!! Made my DAY! I’m still smiling :D
So I added this horrible listing to the database! Feel free to give it a good ol college edit to clean it up haha!
I have to say, I had an awesome time mixing up this deliciousness this morning. Light and sweet, super creamy as an iced latte – what an awesome 2nd day of Christmas!
Another package made with incredible love and care! Thanks Azz~!
SO delicious!
What an amazing way to start off the countdown! Thank you SO much Autumn – it’s delicious. The smell pretty much drove me crazy when I opened it this morning… then went to work and didn’t come home to drink it until almost midnight!
Delicious! The packaging, the gorgeous note, the tender care and love – perfection. Gave me tingles!
Blog time!
Having my own cup of this one tonight!
Ack how is it quarter after 8, I have to do something productive.
Well I have to say, a waft of cinnamon hit me in the face after pouring water over the leaves. I couldn’t ask for a better thing to hit me in the face :D
Got a latte from my coworker with the tiniest bit of agave.
mmmmmmm SO good! Banana! Creeeeamy and sweet with a hint of chocolate. But oh the banana! Apparently it makes a kick butt iced latte too. I won’t be buying any for myself, too close to Christmas, but it’s on my list!
Picked up a little $1 bag when I was pursuing the giant Perfect Mugs (on my Kissmas list ;) ).
I found the flavour to be very mild, almost too mild for me. I didn’t find it bitter, but it was a bit salty and slightly vegetal in the way nori seaweed can be, but not enough of that delicious seaweed flavour that I crave.
Just not enough! I think maybe the sample pack was a teeny bit too small for the mug I used. Either way I probably won’t go back for this one – it made me crave gyokuro and I KNOW that will cure my flavour blues :D
Good call – I was definitely using my perfect mug! It’s more of a tsp instead of a “perfect” tsp hey? haha
For Korean Sejak, you have to use lower temperature than other green teas, and longer brewing time. I can never make it as good as my mom does, but when it’s done right, you can never go back to other green teas.
Sejak is the middle quality Korean tea. Ujon is the highest quality. Sejak should be brewed at around 65-70 degrees for perhaps a minute or so, depending on the steeping vessel.
The best teas are picked in Hadong on Jirisan, and as with all green teas, the first leaves are the finest and contain the lion’s share of all the goodness of the tea.
I am sorry to disagree with you Stella, but Korean jakseol green teas are very delicate and must not be brewed for a long time. If you brew it for a long time it will become bitter, and the color will become slightly more brown than the proper golden color.
Another from the travelling tea box!
I used 2 perfect teaspoons in my Travel Mug and we took it to Point Pleasant park and admired the chipmunks and big fat bluejays. It’s blizzarding where I used to live.. it’s plus 18 here today. WHOOP!
This was a great fall companion tea! The two most prominent flavours I got were sweet apple and cinnamon – it was followed by a caramel and candy taste and something a bit floral, which put me off a bit- and it was almost a bit too sweet for me! There was something strange in the aftertaste, it reminded me a stevia, but I know there is no stevia in the blend. Maybe an aftertaste from the sugar crystals? Either way it was a bit cloying.
Anyways, that’s minor, it was still a yummy blend! Not one I would purchase for myself, but one I was very happy to try!
Aw I love squirrels. I go to the park every day for my lunch hour and sometimes I end up feeding the squirrels my lunch haha
This does sound like a very nice fall tea :)
Oh, this sounds good! How much does it cost to send the tea box travelling to the next person, on average?
Caramel candy apple seems to be a flavour hard to achieve properly with tea. I have tried a few and they also ended up tasting like an apple pie of some sort. Do you know one that is closer to the true taste?
I think that Davids did this relatively well with Big Apple, though I would love to see them do it with a black tea or dark oolong too.
This one definitely didn’t taste like apple pie! Definitely closer to a candy apple :3
@Heather – between 15-25 bucks for the travelling tea box, depending on if it’s within Canada or US :)
I have couple H&S teas in my cupboard. if you want to try them I can mail you some after christmas. When I place the order I had no idea what ounces to grams were so I order 7oz(!!!!!) of this and 4oz of everything else. lol
