Queen of Tarts (Organic)

Iced, I imagine this tea really is perfect. I feel like drinking it hot and giving it a bad review is unfair, so I’m not going to. I’m going to hang on to it until I can have it iced, because it has all the qualities of a great iced tea for me.

Except the ice.

I am loving this tea. So happy I got one of the bags and need to restock this one. I am a hibiscus lover so that may colour my opinion of this tea. Just tart enough and the stevia taste in non-existant. And I am a sucker for a nice, bright red tea.

Wow wow wow. I’m more impressed with this tea than I have been by any other tea from David’s in recent history. It’s certainly tart, which is to be expected considering it’s a good 80-85% hibiscus, but balance it out with generous amounts of agave nectar and it makes for a lovely iced tea, and an excellent pick-me-up. I definitely get a guayusa buzz, and I can hardly taste the ’yusa itself! So, as far as guayusa bleds from DT go, this tea kicks the sh*t out of Jungle Juju & Chai Amazonia /easily/, and I can easily see it becoming a staple item in my tea cupboard.

Have yet to try it hot, but I imagine it will be somewhat similar to Bear Trap. I’ll definitely update once I’ve tried it!

Tart is the word! I liked this tea, but did not LOVE it… a bit too tart for me. Next time I will add some rock sugar to it and maybe that will bring the tartness down a bit. I really like that its a mate, because sometimes I just need an extra kick in the day. This tea might taste really good iced, but I have only had it hot. Glad I have it, but also glad I only got 30g of it. I feel that that will be enough for me.

Sip Down & Backlog

I cold brewed a lot of this during the weekend (i.e. the rest of the leaf). I attempted to like this on a few occasions, as a hot and cold tea. I wasn’t a fan…however, I let this sit for a while; at least for 6+ months. That’s fine since that time allowed this tea to settle and lose some of the overly tart notes I dislike with hibiscus. It settled into a nice ¬_earthy_ sweetness, which was bearable. I drank the 32 oz container from Saturday through Sunday morning. The only issue was the black tea base, I think, made it have a funky aftertaste—like a little bit malt, which didn’t match the tart/sweetness of the rest of the blend.

Sipdown 132-2021
I used the last of a tin to make a cold brew pitcher. This is quite old, but hasn’t degraded at all. My favorite hibiscus tea. Mouth-puckeringly tart, with a burst of jammy blackberry goodness. No hint of stevia at all (thankfully). Such a delicious cold brew.

I really really enjoyed this one! To me it tasted like a fresh picked raspberry, tart and juicy. I’m a little confused tho about the caffeine content… on DT’s website it says its a low blend, but I ordered the rainbow tin of it and it says “stimulant” on it. I added just a pinch of sugar to this one, I also let it steep for about 15 mins too. I think I’ll be keeping this one in stock if I get that kick of energy that many people wrote about!
Tried it for the second time…. I think this is becoming one of my favs!

This is one that I really prefer as an iced tea. The tartness goes well with a really hot day.

This tea is better off iced IMO, though I am not fond of either I can certainly see why someone would like this tea over ice, especially with a bit more sweetness added in or mixed into a pure tea.

To be fair, I am not the biggest fan of hibiscus so this tea was starting off on the wrong foot with me. However I still feel like this tea was overly sour and bitter. I think it would benefit from being mixed in with some black tea.
Hot, it is very tart as you would expect, but here is a weird texture that coats your tongue, maybe from the flavouring? I also tasted a kind of odd smokiness, and the blackberry flavouring is pretty overwhelming.
