10 Tasting Notes
This is a perfect idea tea. Flavorful, without being too sweet or tart. A great way of staying hydrated during the warmer months. I’m sure to be making quite a few pitchers of this during the warmer months.
Preparation
This was my first time with this tea. I ordered a sample to determine whether or not it will join my regular rotation of teas.
The aroma of this tea has the earthy notes that mark a Puerh, but were milder than expected. The strawberry really announced itself as well.
The liqueur found the Puerh tones were indeed muted, and a touch on the creamy side. The aromatic strawberries were practically missing in taste, with the nuttiness of the hazelnuts only really showing up in the aftertaste.
Even when brewed for the recommended time, it comes across as underpowered in taste. I believe I’ll increase both the amount of tea used as well as the time when I try my second cup.
For someone new to Puerhs this is a great introduction, however I’m not sure this one hits the same marks for those with a more expereinced palate.
Preparation
This tea smells and looks great. I was excited by finding a new chai and had high hopes of making it my mainstay chai. Unfortunately at the time of purchase I didn’t notice that licorice root was one of the ingredients. I didn’t notice this until I was already brewing it. I’ve have had some luck with teas that contained licorice and remained palatable. Unfortuntely the licorice taste overpowered and killed the flavor of everything else, making this a disgusting cup that I couldn’t get past the first few mouthfuls. It left an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth both literally and figuratively.
