761 Tasting Notes
I had this earlier today, and it was a nice, mild green tea, with a mellow mango taste. Neither taste dominated the cup, though maybe the mango was a little stronger, but not by much. It was a nice cup, and I will probably make one more before sending the rest of my sample to a friend of mine.
Got this iced to go…it smelled good in the can, and the initial sips were ok, but then the syrupy artificialness took over, and I got that weird aftertaste that I have been getting with so many of David’s new teas. It’s gonna come to a point where all the teas there I like will either be discontinued or reblended and I won’t like them anymore, like Chocolate Orange and Chocolate Chili Chai.
One of the teas I got from CrowKettle this past weekend, and this is a winner! This is very similar to the Buttersotch Mocha Candies (pretty sure I got that wrong, or only partly right) but here the mocha is replaced but the coffee, and yet the three flavors blend together so well. The butterscotch adds a touch of sweetness to the coffee, while the pumpkin is smooth and mellows the coffee, but marrying it with a sort of warm earthiness. I do feel the coffee is the most present note, but it really isn’t in your face at all. If any of that made sense.
Of the pumpkin teas, this is probably my favourite. Can’t wait to have more!
Yeahhhhh, not really a fan of this one. It’s one I got from CrowKettle in our Spring Meetup yesterday, and I requested it on name and it being Butiki. Had I actually looked at the tasting note and saw that it has smoky notes, I’d have passed, but I didn’t. And since I am so not a fan of smoky teas, I am not a fan of this one. I’m not really sure how a smoky base is part of cinnamon bread…but I know it was an attempt to use up teas and flavours near the end. There’s another serving left…I think I will share it with someone who likes smoky teas.
I’m sure this is lovely for someone that does like smoky teas, but it’s just not for me. I couldn’t finish my cup at work. :(
OMG NOM NOM NOM!
I really love this tea and have been waiting for it for a long time. And I finally have it, and I love it! Love love love!! I always liked Tamarind Pop, but found it was a little muted or understated…but here, with the gui fei base instead of black, the tamarind flavour really shines! There is a sweet honey caramel fruit with a lithe juicy tartness. It’s PERFECT!
If anyone has some of this that they do not like, I will buy it off of you, or trade for it. Yes, I like this that much! I have an ounce of this, minus what my friend and her daughter tried before sending, and it is not enough! I will cry when this is gone.
Preparation
This is a nice earl grey, with a little extra citrus kick from the tangerine and grapefruit. It went well with milk too. I didn’t find the bergamot too strong, so that was nice. I enjoyed this. I’m debating how I want to use the rest of my sample from my friend. Hot again? Cold steep? I’m leaning to cold steep, but I have said that a lot lately, and somehow feel like I often say that, but then wind up with it hot again.
Not a fave, but my friend liked it less than me, so she sent the remainder to me. It’s a begetter rooibos than some, but I still don’t really like rooibos. This is definitely drinkable. I might try to iced latte it with sweetened condensed milk over the summer…I have enough for that and some sold steeps.
Like I said, not bad for a rooibos, but not something I need in my permanent collection.
