Well, I tried to follow the steeping directions, but must have way overleafed this. My friend sent me some to try as part of a joint order, and this was part of it. It said 1 tbsp per 8 oz, and the sample was a little more than that. But I also had a 12 oz travel mug, so I used the whole thing. Unfortunately, all I got was bitter espresso. I should have followed my gut and used half the sample. I feel like, if that had come out under leafed, I could have still brewed the remaining amount, in less water. But no, I used the whole thing and botched it up. Maybe I’ll come across it again and give it another shot.

This was sent to me by my friend, because she really liked this, in addition to the other stuff she sent. Either I brewed it wrong, or something, but I didn’t get much out of this one. It was pleasant, but I didn’t really pick up the rum, and the fruit was just sort or there. I am saving the rest for a cold brew for a nice warm day. It sure is a pretty tea. I’m glad she sent it, and how my remaining sample works out better.

Long overdue tasting note on this tea…

This sample comes from Angel at Teavivre…and I think it is probably my first red tea. When I first tried this I git a little sour, but in a bittersweet chocolate sort or way, that eventually turned into an earthy any or grassy feel. It’s an interesting tea for sure. I don’t think this is my favourite black (red) tea, but it is not bad. I did brew this western style and add milk and sugar to it. It may have been a different experience gong fu style, but I don’t have my gaiwan set yet….probably not for a few more weeks at least. I’m not sure if I would recommend this or not just because it is a certain flavour profile, but it is a good one…so I’m sure some would like and some would not.

So, this is technically the second time I’ve had this, but I can’t remember much about the first time, because I have been in a haze the last few weeks, and I didn’t really pay much attention to this tea. However, today I was determined to remember to be better about it, and make a note, since Shae was so kind in sharing this with me…as her first trade. :)

I definitely got spice, and your basic chai spice, it seemed to be balanced blend…and although I could not detect it immediately, I got a very nice warming coconut note at the end of the sip. So lovely.

I did not make this latte style, but I did brew a little extra and use milk at the end.

Shae

I’m so glad to hear that you’re enjoying it. :)

This little tea sample came from CrowKettle. It was a cute little package. :) Anyway, I opted to have this one last night, and I opted to have it without sugar. I’ve been working on some of the lighter straight teas without additives. So with this one, I did pick up more on the hay notes, but less of the honey that I read about. I did get a thick mouthfeel though. This was not my favorite white tea to drink, but that may have changed if I had added just a bit of sweetness from organic raw cane sugar.

Overall, this was a nice white tea, but not a fave. I’d still recommend to others though, even it if was not right for me.

This one is kind of artificial, but still pretty good. It does get a little weird when it cools. I had it plain, but sweetened as a TTG initially. At that time, they suggested it as a latte (I think it’s a new upselling tactic that I’m not liking, fwiw)…I was like, I don’t usually add milk to white tea, except for Buttercream. But I kept that in my mind and when I was at DT yesterday with CrowKettle I opted to get a little of this and Strawberry Fields. So I made this last night, even though I’d had half a mug of Brazillionaire, a sipping matcha, and a matcha latte…I usually only have 2 caffeine teas a day. Whoopsie!

So I added a little more leaf and added milk, and I got little black floaties, reminiscent of a previous seasonal tea…one of the apple ones, iirc. I think it is just vanilla bean? Anyhow, it was tasty and def held up to the milk. And yes it is artificial, but I was compelled to drink more in spite of that.

I will be curious to see how this works iced or cold steeped.

This is one of 2 teas in the Spring Collection I to try yesterday. I had already had a cup of White Nectarine to go right when it came out…but I decided to get more of that to play with, and some of this.

I have to say that it is very strawberry and cream smelling and tasting, though a bit artificial. Is it enough of a turnoff? I don’t know. I did love that I got some good strawberry pieces in my bag, and this brew. I made my cup today with milk and sugar to up the sweet and cream taste. I have heard that it is tasty as a cold brew, so I may reserve some of my small bag for that.

It’s not a terrible tea, and it does fill a certain void, but I am rather spoiled by Stacy’s/Butiki’s strawberry flavours now. I don’t know if I like this enough to restock, at the moment, given how much tea I presently have, but when the pouch runs out, maybe I’ll get another small one. I dunno yet.

Umm, no. Almost tastes medicinal. The rooibos is too strong on this one for me.

Will have to try without out milk, but with it I got pretty much nothing in any sort of passionfruit way.

I had this tea last night, as the first of my new Janet’s samples to break in, partly because this was the first one she mentioned was new. Now, most people who now me know that I am not fond of rooibos, however, Bear With Me was kind enough to share some of his favourites, and he said they were better than DAVIDs’ rooibos. True enough, I liked the few he let me try, so I was game to try more. I love pear, so this one intrigued me.

By all rights, I should not like this tea. Not only is the dry leaf very rooisbos-y, but it is a stronger rooibos taste….but then, the crisp clean pear comes to the front and saves the day. This tea is a bit of a conundrum…I shouldn’t like it, but I do. I’ll have to have more to see whether I need more of this in my collection, like plum and rainbow rooibos.

I generally like a lot of tea. I do find I have a preference for flavored over unflavoured, but I do love a good straight tea as well.

Likes are too hard, since there are a lot. Dislikes are easier, so here they are…

Hibiscus. Blech. I can tolerate a little, depending on the brew, like Berry Good from Davids and Ruby Pie from Butiki…but in general, it’s too tart and too strong for me.

Licorice. Anything that remotely resembles licorice is out too, so that includes fennel and anise. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Florals. I’m cool with petals in the tea to make them look pretty (except rose), and I’m cool with teas like oolongs having a floral note, but strong florals can give me migraines. Rose and jasmine are the biggest offenders. This is one where it can vary on the blend, as I can handle Teavivre’s Peach Jasmine Dragon Pearl tea because there is very little jasmine actually detectable in it.

Rooibos is hit or miss. I can do some, but not others. I handle green better than red, and honeybush better than rooibos.

My ratings don’t have a particular scale or method, and may on occasion contradict themselves, but I’m honestly not fussed about that. Sometimes I don’t even rate at all.

Um, I have an extensive wishlist. It is both a list of things I want to get again, and things I want to try. If you are sending me something, and you want to know which is which, I’ll tell you via PM.

Yes, I do trades…usually on request though. See something you want to try in my cupboard? Just shoot me a message and I’ll see what I can do!

Uh, guess that’s it.
