75 Tasting Notes
Courtney sent me a sample of this (thank you!!) and it’s very tasty! I didn’t even have to add sugar…weird.
I admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect because the tea looked like debris from a cracked pecan. The strawberry flavor is spot-on and if anything maybe adding a dash of cream would be all I’d suggest.
Preparation
I love the smell of this dry…very nutty and caramel. It’s making me crave creme brûlée. Steeped, it has a prominent caramel and Rooibos aroma. I generally like Rooibos but something about this blend leaves a slight perfume taste that is hard to ignore. I might have to try steeping it again…
Preparation
I love cookies but never liked the taste of raw cookie dough. It’s not the flavor that grosses me out but the idea that it’s uncooked batter. I still wanted to try this because my curiosity “I wonder if it really DOES taste like that” gets the best of me.
In this case, it was a pleasant surprise. Since there’s no uneasiness of eating something raw, I’m really able to enjoy the flavor. And yes, this really does taste like cookie dough! I thought that adding cream would enhance the doughy flavor but I was wrong and instead, it muted it. Next time I’ll just stick to adding a dash of sugar.
Oh gawd… I get why this is rated so well. There’s a natural sweetness to it and the strawberry custard flavor is delicious! Sadly it looks like 52Teas only has the green tea version in stock. I can easily imagine drinking this everyday or at least several times a week. Thank you Janelle for sending me a sample of this!
Preparation
Glad you like it. We DO also have this version: http://www.zoomdweebies.com/Strawberry-Zabaglione-Iced-Tea_p_339.html
NayLynn sent me a variety of Earl Greys to help me on my search for “the one” Earl Grey. Thank you NayLynn!!
This is possibly the most delicately flavored Earl Grey that I’ve tasted… and I mean that in a good way. I used 1.5 tsp of tea and was worried that it would be too strong for an 8oz cup but it turned out nicely. Usually I prefer an Earl Grey with a lot of body but somehow this works and would be a good transition tea for someone who hasn’t tried Earl Grey.
Preparation
I over-steeped this the first time so this is round 2! This tastes so much better with a little cream added as it really helps bring out the richness of the caramel. This is what I would consider to be a “light” dessert tea because the caramel and chocolate flavors are there but subtle.
Thank you Courtney for introducing me to Simpson & Vail! I love me some dessert teas. ;-D
Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate
Preparation
This has a delicate banana flavor with a subtle caramel undertone. I’d say it’s pretty spot-on. I was even able to drink this without sweetener OR cream -surprising. /patselfonback Thank you NayLynn for giving me a chance to sample this one!
Preparation
I was nervous to try this as I’m not a big fan of green tea but Courtney swears Matcha is delicious so I decided to give it a try. I blended the suggested scoop with 1 cup of almond milk plus 1 cup of ice… and zomg, it’s delicious! This will be my go-to frozen summer drink. :-) It’s creamy and sweet but not cloyingly sweet which makes it a perfect alternative to the sugar loaded frappes I sometimes crave.
Hehe. It’s also delicious in heated milk. Stephanie was the genius who thought up microwaving a mug of milk for just over 1 minute and whisking the matcha in. It works so well for certain ones. This was one of them, of course. :P
Well then, I better cover all of my bases by trying it warm tomorrow. I’m also going to see if I can infuse it in my whip cream maker… matcha with matcha whip cream. :D Have you tried the caramel popcorn yet? I’ll browse your ratings later tonight to see what other ones are good.
I haven’t tried that one, but everyone else seems to rave about it. Hmm, my favourites so far are Banana & Cream, French Butter Cream, Cheesecake, and Bavarian Cream has really grown on me over time too.
I agree haha. They are quite expensive. You should definitely take advantage of the free monthly matchas since you’re in the US. This month it’s cheesecake I believe, and the shipping within the US should be cheap. :)
I have yet to try matcha as well.. Just got my first sample in the mail yesterday. I know we are quite a long ways apart, but I think shipping was $2 and something for the sample. I do ok with flavored green teas, but don’t reach for them often, so I’m like you in being a little a nervous about it… thinking ground tea leaves must give a strong flavor. Sounds like it went well for you.. I’ll have to give mine a try soon!
This came with my order of Brioche and I was excited to see that they offer a decaf version. Like others have mentioned, this is identical to Forever Nuts! I love the taste of Forever Nuts so really enjoyed this and will definitely add it to my next order.
Flavors: Nuts
YES.
Sounds yummy… Maybe good iced ?!?
I’d add a little sugar if I decided to cold brew it but it would definitely be delicious iced!
