drank Raspberry Cream Pie by DAVIDsTEA

It smells wonderful, exactly like a raspberry cream pie. The flavour was quite sweet – almost too sweet – so, although I drank a few servings “plain”, I couldn’t help but look for something to add to my cup that would offset the sweetness. Half a scoop of matcha works well in combination with this tea, as does – surprise, surprise – a dollop of creme fraiche. (It’s less weird than it sounds. Salted cream bubble tea is popular in some parts of the world.)

This is a pretty weird tea. I’ve tried brewing it with hot water and then less-hot water; I’ve added sugar and also tried no sugar; I’ve added milk as well as gone without. This tea does not remind me of creme brulee at all. Normally I love all things creme brulee.

That said, it’s not a terrible tea, but I had high expectations based on the name.

The only reason I can think of why my experience is so different from others’ glowing reviews is that my 50g supply has an overabundance of apples that is overbearing in flavour.

drank Vanilla Bergamot by DAVIDsTEA

Like another reviewer said, this tastes like a vanilla Earl Grey. However, I found the flavours surprisingly weak as compared to my other Earl Grey teas at home. Whenever I take a sip, I have to hold it in my mouth for a while before I can appreciate the hints of sugar OR bergamot. I like this tea well enough, but I’m hoping that in the future I might possibly grow to love it.

This tea tastes better cold. Add rock sugar, steep, add milk, and then let cool to room temperature or lower. The chocolate flavour wins out over the bitterness in the end.

I can taste the chocolate flavour, but it’s just a little too weak. My first thought upon taking a sip is always, “It’s bitter.” I added milk, and next time, I will try adding some rock sugar too.

drank Blackberry Mojito by Teavana

Like other reviewers, I have to agree that the mint taste in this tea is nearly non-existent and it’s “just a vaguely berryish watery drink”. The first time around, I thought that I didn’t steep the tea leaves long enough; this time, I more than doubled my steeping time to no effect. I wanted to drink an iced tea, but I was almost afraid to keep adding ice cubes that would water down the flavour even more.

You’re most likely to find: Black/Green/Oolong Teas. Caramel. Chocolate. Cream.

I am also tempted by: Flowers. Comparisons to alcohol. Berries.

Despite the above, I generally dislike herbal teas and fruit infusions.

Coffee flavours do not belong in tea. If I want coffee, I will go to Starbucks.
