Lavender Dreams

There is something truly romantic about this tea. This is a beautiful tea: full rose blossoms, candied violets, a giant piece of carrot (I think?), lavender, and tons of dark, as well as lighter, white tea. I actually looked on Amazon at candied violets and they are hella expensive! The sales person indicated that they really wanted me to have a lot of the “goodies” so she scooped me out extra violets and rose buds. I really wanted to try this tea before, but the $18 price tag really dissuaded me; so the sale was a special chance to try this out. I’m also dying to try this mixed with the Swiss Vervaine tea to see if I can’t mellow it out.
I’ve liked lavender teas before and it is one of the purely floral teas that I enjoy. Steeped this is a very pale yellow. The liquor also has a very green smell that surprised me. The tea itself has a very soft lavender flavor, much less than I was expecting. Lots of floral notes too, backed up by white tea. This is a pretty good tea and it is instantly relaxing to sip on. I didn’t pick up on any of the peach notes that other people were getting. I really enjoyed this! I think that it wouldn’t be an everyday tea for me, but it is very enjoyable.

There are a lot of ingredients in this tea! I’m thinking because of the amount of ingredients and the intensity of those ingredients that is why I am not tasting the actual white tea base. I AM, however, tasting the lavender. It’s very floral and slightly creamy. I can also taste other floral notes in addition to the Lav. The peach is subtle but I do like it. I’m picking up some lemongrass/verbena type flavors, too, which are subtle, as well.

In a blind taste test I would assume this is an herbal tea and not a flavored white. Regardless it’s an interesting offering. It’s an ok-offering from Teavana. I haven’t tried it up to this point and and SO VERY HAPPY I was able to thanks to Cup of Tree! Thanks again!

This rating has double digits, simply for the fact that we may have nuked this tea in a terrible, disgraceful manner, and under duress it changed its flavor in a way to punish us with horrors that our tastebuds have never previously imagined.

Or, it could just be really, really bad. This cup is at least really, really bad.

Missy brewed this for herself, and came upstairs with the weirdest little tone in her voice when she asked me to try it. I almost couldn’t swallow it, except not doing so just meant I’d have to taste it longer.

Then, being the horrible, horrible parents that we are… we asked our daughter to try it. She bolted to the bathroom sink to spit it out. I haven’t seen her move that fast in weeks. That might make this a sports drink.

This just tastes like lavender to me. The white tea doesn’t do much and it always confuses me as to how a tea called “Lavender Dreams” is not caffeine-free. The rest of this is being passed on to a friend.

Holy big chunk of carrot! I wasn’t sure at first that that’s what it was, because it seems like such a peculiar ingredient. But yep. That’s a huuuuuuge carrot slice in my ingenuiTEA. Weird.

This is primarily a cup of lavender. Which is awesome if you like lavender (I do!). The candied flowers offer a pleasing amount of natural sweetness, and there’s very light peachy notes throughout. I don’t really get much in the way of the white tea that’s supposed to be here, but it’s a pleasing, relaxing cup that I’d drink again.

Wow! What a pretty tea. Whole rosebuds, orange slices of dried carrots, lavender, just lovely!

I don’t get much beyond the lavender taste but it was very nice and relaxing. I liked it after it cooled off a bit. Freshly hot it was hard to taste the flavor.

I could see mixing this with a nice chamomile for a before bed cuppa. Thanks, Tamm!

I think there might be something wrong with batch of this tea…. It looks like dirty dish water. I mean, it’s like I went to a restaurant, entered the kitchen at the end of the night, and took some of the dishwater. That or like it came from a bucket of water mop water. It tastes about the same as this too. It’s funny though, since it looked so appealing until I poured water over it. Oh, well got it as part of a gift set for 75% off regular price and my parents paid for it, so I’ll finish it.

We’re under a tornado/flood warning here this evening. I know it sounds strange, but I’ve always found that storms are very calming for me. As a teenager, I used to open my windows, lay a towel down & sit in the window to read as the rain and winds raged just inches away. I find I am more relaxed during storms and sleep the best when there’s a storm.

That being said, my tea choice during this beautifully blustery day was simple. A big thanks to Sandy Stith for this sample because it was just the tea for such a lovely evening!

The tea itself is absolutely beautiful… white tea with pink petals and lavender buds intermixed. The lavender in this tea is so vibrant, which I loved since it’s one of my favorite flavors. Very floral and delicate. I did feel that the white base got a little lost in this however & I’d have liked for that to be more present (hence the slightly lower rating). Over all this was a good floral tea however, a nice relaxing choice for a lavender lover like myself :)

Dirty water indeed. The white tea, combined with what I can only assume is purple dye from the candied violets, turns this brew into a supremely unappetizing purple-brown color. The tea itself has a faintly detectable white tea flavor, but it’s mostly masked by the lavender. This tea tastes like herbs de provence smells. Not appealing.

Glad, at least, that I got this super cheap.

I had been holding on to this tea I got from RachanaC (Rachel) for a long while and I’m not entirely sure why I’ve been so hesitant. I love the scent of lavender and the fact that it can be used in so many ways. But now that I think about it, this is my first lavender tea.

When I first received the tea, the scent was overwhelming. It filled my entire tea cabinet and hit me every time I opened it. It has since faded, unfortunately, but it was my own fault for not storing it in a tin. I kept it in a ziplock. Anyway, when I opened the package, the scent was still the clean, soothing scent of dried lavender flowers.

When steeping, the violet and lavender flowers stayed on the surface of the water, while the white tea leaves expanded and submerged. The tea brewed into a pale champagne color, like many whites I’ve tried have. I also sweetened it with honey. The result was like others have said, a stronger lavender flavor above all, with a faint white tea taste afterward. The honey mutes that subtle tea flavor as well. This tea makes me want to try a lavender/black combination instead.
