Marshmallow Snowflake Earl Grey

This is good, but it reminds me almost spot on to Argo Tea’s Earl Grey Creme which is not limited edition and easier to get a hold of, though the snowflakes are pretty darn cute.

I used about 1.5 teaspoons of leaves in a 12oz mug and added sweetener

This is another old favourite I’ve been hoarding the last of for way longer than I should, but luckily it still tastes great, though the marshmallow sweetness has faded a little. This was the tea that first got me interested in creamy EGs, so it gets bonus points for that. Though the base is a little astringent, it’s not so noticeable I have to add milk (but I distinctly remember this also being delicious with milk). The sweet, creamy marshmallow is actually more noticeable in the scent and in the initial sip than the bergamot, which can be overpowering in some blends, but here it’s a nice background which cuts through the sweetness towards the end of the sip and rounds the whole thing out beautifully. It’s a shame this is only offered seasonally, but since Herbal Infusions ships to the UK I might be tempted to place an order to try their EG creme and see how it compares… I have a job interview in a couple of days (telephone, because of Covid), so let’s all hope I get it because the list of companies I want to place orders with is getting longer than I can keep track of!

Sipdown! Coldbrew 2 tsp, 500 mL cold water, about 1 hour

Smooth black base, vanilla, creamy, sweet. I didn’t get gergamot, but it was quite tasty regardless.

Yum. This reminds me of Zen’s Earl Grey Cream. Delicious for two whole steeps, but with the exception of the snowflakes in Herbal Infusions in the dry leaf and the fact that this Canadian company, in my city yet, charged me in American dollars, I don’t notice a difference. Snowflakes, yay! Charging Canadians in Canada in American dollars, wtf, boo! BOO!

Perhaps I need to do a side by side taste test. One day. Won’t change my mind about a repurchase though.

Aaaand that’s a sip down. I had the last cup with maple syrup and half and half, and actually, I didn’t really care for the maple syrup. I find it gives the tea a weird flavour, kind of like agave.

I’ve been craving HI’s Strawberry Cream cacao or whatever it’s called but maybe I’ll wait to see if they come out with more interesting flavours this holiday season before making an order. Yeah.

Thanks VariaTEA for the sample; I appreciate getting to try a limited edition tea, although I did put off trying it because I have lots of EG around the house at the moment. It just seemed silly to keep another Christmas tea around though, so heeyooo sipdown!

Umm…

Was this really the favourite of the limited edition HI blend? I feel awkward saying it; but I don’t like it. Maybe it’s user error; although I was careful with steeping. It’s just so damn bitter. I can faintly taste the bergamot and a creamy vanilla but then it’s terribly drowned out by yeck.

I’m thinking it must just be HI’s black base that doesn’t agree with me because I’ve had a few HI black teas now and I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a single one. Just as well; they’re apparently a pain to order from and seeing as this was limited edition anyway I wouldn’t have been able to get ahold of more had I wanted to anyway.

This is my first tea I’m drinking of the many that I received from MissB. This tea is heavy on different flavors in the best way. The marshmallow flavor gives it a creamy, vanilla touch. I find the earl grey in this a little lighter than I expected but I still enjoyed it.

This steeping is not that good, but I over zealously used the rest of my sample from OMGsrsly in my steeper this morning rather than measuring it, so I think I overleafed it a bit. It’s a bit bitter and astringent, but the last time I had it, it was super yummy. This time, it’s all my fault for it not tasting good.

okay so binge watching Hannibal might not be the best idea in the world.
so i just watch episodes of The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes at the very end of the day to, ya know, rinse the taste out of my brain meat.

Nice EG, not much bergamot (which I like a lot of ) so a little disappointing. The little snowflakes are cute! I’m not sure exactly what the marshmallow is supposed to taste like in tea. I used my regular, old fashion tea strainer since there wasn’t enough for my Breville. I boiled the water in the Breville so I would have the right temp. First cup good, added monk’s fruit as my sweetener. (didn’t go well with my lemon pepper tuna, but what would) I did a resteep. OK, I almost did the resteep right. I heated the water but forgot there was no tea in the Breville basket. When it was hot I thoughtlessly poured the water into my cup and added sweetener. Then I looked at the cup… my goodness this looks weak. Duh! It was a cup of sweetened water. The tea leaves are in the other dispersion basket. LOL! I then poured the water onto the leaves. Problem solved! :D
