Part of a sampler pack I ordered and picked out the flavors. I think that Della Terra Teas look very nice, but some of the ingredients, I am not into, the main one being sprinkles. I LOVE the LOOK of sprinkles, I actually use them to decorate baked goods often. However, I am not very into eating them, let alone DRINKING them. This tea also had tiny marshmallows with brown flavor looking stuff on it. Not into it. Sorry

Triple steeped these leaves and still getting a great amount of that black tea deliciousness. I greatly recommend this one because of how sweet it starts out AND how it mellows. My husband even liked it, and though I’ve found he’s a sucker for black tea, it still says something for him to say he could drink it daily. This is definitly a Re-buy. Totally impressed.

I do enjoy this tea, even though its smell at times reminds me of vanilla air freshner. At first sip the tea leaves me with a creamy marshmallow vanilla taste and mouth feel at the back of my throat combined with a drying sensation and slightly woody, bitter taste at the front of my mouth followed by an aftertaste of caramel and spice. It does become quite astringent at the second steeping. A warming and interesting desert tea.

This is such a pretty tea! There are mini marshmallows, sprinkles, and gold balls mixed in and smells sweet and marshmallowy. The black tea was pretty strong but I could still taste the caramel marshmallow. I thought I would like this more based on the reviews here but it is still good. I’ve never had a marshmallow tea before, now I want to try some others because it really tastes good.

So, I had posted a review on a mysterious tea sample I had recieved called “Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel”, and suspected it was in fact the same tea as “Eight Candles” by Della Terra Teas. I bought this in order to verify my suspicion. After tasting this, I’ve concluded that this tea is the same as that sample. In order to save me some time, I’m just going to post the tasting notes I wrote for the other sample here:

This tea is really nice. It smells like hot coco w/ marshmallows to me. The taste is also very similar to hot coco, only less chocolate, more caramel. The marshmallow comes through pretty nicely (this from someone who dislikes marshmallow), but doesn’t make it too sweet. It also makes for a slightly creamy cup, which I found rather enjoyable. The sugar candy also adds a little sweetness, but it isn’t like drinking a latte or anything. Just present and pleasant. It’s a smooth cup, with the black tea base just breaking through to give the cup a nice, subdued, black tea taste. As I’ve said in previous reviews, I’m not a fan of strong black teas, so this brew was well received. The tea base is present, but contains no astringency, nor is it overpowering. The tea tastes best once it has cooled a little bit. Overall, I really enjoyed this Holiday brew.

Wonder why this has jumped to the top of the tealog??

At this point— this is one of the long forgotten teas I came across the other day—this cup smells and tastes like a heavy on the vanilla birthday cake, frosting and all. Pretty tasty.

Thanks for the sample, VariaTEA.

And it’s a sipdown!

I’m so glad to have a chance to try out all these Della Terra teas. :) Thanks again to Ost for the samples! This one is fun-looking because of the sprinkles and marshmallows. I definitely get some marshmallow flavour in my cup, though the caramel is pretty subtle (I don’t think there were any caramel pieces in this scoop of tea, which may explain it). Mostly I’m just tasting the black tea base, which is actually quite nice – fairly rich and malty, so maybe it’s an assam, but minimal astringency even with a longer second steep.

I was lucky enough to score a 4-ounce bag in a Facebook group. It’d been mentioned by someone in the group before and sounded so intriguing that I had to try to track it down. Flavored black teas are my jam and I love marshmallows so I knew that this would almost certainly be a hit. It is. I’m sitting a cuppa this morning.

The marshmallow flavor is lovely and only improves as the tea cools. I added a drop of stevia because I didn’t find that it was as sweet as I was expecting given all the add-ins (gold sugar pearls, sprinkles, mini marshmallows). The caramel flavor is faint but adds a bit of depth to a tea that would otherwise be straight marshmallow (not that I would’ve minded that in the slightest!). The tea did have a bit of an oil slick on top but I used a filter, as suggested by other folks on Steepster, so it wasn’t too bad.

The only negative thing I’d say is that I wish the black tea base was a bit stronger.

This is another new-to-me tea that I’ve tried in the past few weeks that I’ll now have to ration. I haven’t tried many marshmallow teas, but this is, without a doubt, the best I’ve tried thus far. If anyone has suggestions on other, more readily available, marshmallow teas, please let me know.

Sipdown. This was a pleasant, mildly sweet tea. I enjoyed it, but I’m not particularly going to miss it. There are so many other ‘slightly vanilla’ teas on the market.

(Unlike Blueberry Crumble. Every time I drink this I sob a little and wish Della Terra hadn’t gone out of business.)

Fjellrev

Aww, I never tried Blueberry Crumble but it seemed quite popular. Stupid me kept passing it up every time I made an order.

Tamarindel

Yeah, I normally don’t go for blueberry flavors either (because they usually come loaded with hibiscus? but this one is stellar. Pure blueberry muffin flavor, no hibiscus in sight.

Fjellrev

I totally agree on the blueberry + hibiscus combination has been so overdone. Somehow I thought the blueberry would be boring with the green base. My problem was I kept imagining the boring blueberry white teas I’ve had in the past and assumed Blueberry Crumble wouldn’t be that much different.

Tamarindel

Ooo, I’ve had those blueberry whites, I know what you mean! So pale and weak :( I think Blueberry Crumble has black tea in the base as well as green? Normally I avoid that combination, but in this case I can barely taste it. There’s a lot of maple flavor backing up the blueberry. Alas, I only have a few teaspoons left and then it will just be a wistful memory.

This certainly smells like black tea, but there is a cake-y element that is also vying for your attention. This tastes like I need sprinkles! No sweetener needed. What’s up with me today enjoying black tea even with no sweetener?! I could see this being a part of a future order.
