From DAVIDsTEA

As far as we’re concerned, a perfectly ripe nectarine is one of the world’s most perfect tastes. And something that special deserves the royal treatment – which is why we only used the best ingredients around for this all natural blend. We took a base of sweet, mellow white Bai Mudan tea, for a fresh taste of the spring harvest. Then we added fruity apricots, herbaceous blackberry leaves and all-natural nectarine essence. The result? A fresh, juicy tea worthy of our very favourite fruit.

Price per 50g: $11.50

I got this blend with my Frequent Steeper points back in April. I like most stone fruits, so I figured why not try a pricey tea that showcases the nectarine. It sounded like a win-win situation. Unfortunately there’s something about this blend that I just don’t care for. I think the flavor of the tea overwhelms the flavor of the fruit. Wow. That’s something I didn’t think I’d ever say about a white tea blend. LOL! Normally I find that they don’t really have a ton of flavor. But I digress, the ingredients in this blend don’t compliment each other very well, at least not on my palate. Thankfully I didn’t pay money for it because I would’ve wanted my money back, and, as I was on vacation, there’s no store within 1,000+ miles for me to return it to. I’m also thankful that I’ve found someone who’s happy to take this off my hands. It wasn’t horrible. It just wasn’t for me.

Wow, in the last 24 hours I went from 36 to 31 teas in my tea collection. Thank you iced tea pitcher (and using up small samples) for decreasing my collection to a more conservative/manageable size!

My co worker gave me this tea- she said her son gave her a few teas for mother’s day that she didn’t care for, lol. I passed on the black tea due to stomach issues and chose this one. I put the entire amount (probably 1-2 tsp subtracted from 25 grams) in 2L of 185 degree F water for 4 min and put the pitcher in the fridge to cool off over night for “iced” tea.

I can’t say I often eat nectarines or apricots, but I’m definitely detecting apricot: slightly tart and sweet. Overall this tea is different and interesting, but not for me, and just like the last several teas I reviewed, I’m glad to have tried it, but wouldn’t purchase it for myself. This is due to the fact that I’m not super into the flavour (it’s just okay), I prefer my iced teas to be herbal, I’m not super into white tea (if I want caffeine I’ll drink green tea, if not I drink herbal- I don’t need an “inbetween”), and this tea costs $11.50/ 50 grams (or $5.75 per pitcher). I would rather buy some of their newly released summer collection to be honest (although I promised myself that I’m going to get my collection to 25 or so teas before buying anymore…I’m getting close!).

I’m a huge fan of white tea, and love fruity teas. For some reason, this tea didn’t do it for me. It was always bitter, the taste of the nectarine was more of an apricot or an unsweetened peachy/nectarine. I had a whole tin which was unfortunate, but I won’t be repurchasing this tea. It wasn’t a very good iced tea either.

The appearance and the scent of the dry blend is lovely: true to full ripe peach in summer. The tea brews pale yellow. I drink my tea usually in a glass, so the colour is part of it for me. The first hot sip is true to the scent with peach at the very front of the taste, followed by a bit of tartness, but then, it is followed up by a wee bit of artificialness. The scent is still peach, even a bit honeyed.

I only bought about 10 to 15 grams of this tea and this is my first cup. I think I’d like to have a cup from time to time now that the weather has begun to warm up. Light, scented, and flavourful. I will see how I feel about it after a few more cups.

I bought that tea, thinking I would be crazy about it because I love peach tea and, let’s be honest, peach and nectarines are quite similar. It’s not bad, it’s just that I didn’t get the nectarine part. It could have been named “some fruit tea”. It’s very okay, it’s tasty and I’m gonna drink what I bought but I don’t find its “little something”. I don’t think I’m gonna buy this one again.
UPDATE : I found a weird aftertaste after trying it again hot steeped but cooled after that. It was very unpleasant to me. I’m gonna drop the rating for that. When I drank another glass from the same pitcher, the aftertaste wasn’t there anymore. That’s nice, but I expect to drink a good iced tea every time, not only from the second half of a pitcher.

Backlog (from this past week). Really meh. Basically just a white tea with some peachy flavour, and not even a white tea that has much flavour by itself. Not really a fan.

1.5 tsp for 300mL water @85C, steeped 3 minutes.

Dry leaf is pretty. I’m not sure what the blackberry leaf is doing there – maybe it’s meant to look like a full tea leaf. The white tea itself scant and twiggy. Liquor is a cloudy light bronze. Decent nectarine/apricot flavouring, with none of the sharp nastiness we now find in DavidsTea Long Life Peach Oolong, but the flavouring does dominate. I cannot detect any white tea notes at all.

I used a cooler water tempt than the 90C recommended.

I’m not normally crazy about the sweet teas, but this is mild enough that it’s okay. Still a little too sweet for my taste. This was a sample in the office cupboard leftover from the last order.

Drank it HOT. I was sad there wasn’t “Peaches n Cream” anymore, but this is a really good replacement, it pretty much tastes the same. It’s light, but fruity and peachy. Good amount of sweet. Would be good iced. I kept steeping as I drank it, and it got even more peachy.

EDIT: I tasted it Iced and there is a really strong peach aroma, but the taste stays quite light.

A pleasant white tea. I’m very particular about flavoured teas that are aiming for peachy kind of flavours, and while this is not bad, it’s not quite what I was hoping for. The nectarine flavour is just not quite authentic enough to really grab me. Still no regrets about picking up a sample, and I will finish what I have left.
