If you ask us, the watermelon is king of summer. We know it’s a bold statement, but it’s true. No picnic, BBQ or pool party is complete without its juicy pink-and-green goodness. And this summer we’re giving you one more reason to think pink…a fresh and fruity melange of melon and apple, with a super-refreshing burst of peppermint. Try it on ice with a splash of vodka – it’s the ultimate summer thirst quencher. All hail the king! Limited edition.

Watermelon Mint is probably my favorite of this collection. I found a similar tea last summer, but it is nowhere nearly as delightful as this one. The other tea is tasteless, where as this one is very fruity and minty, the way it should be! It actually tastes like watermelon! It has the perfect amount of mint, and the whole tea is the perfect balance of watermelon and mint. It is the perfect tea for summer!

Just be sure to shake the container before you measure out the tea, because the mint leaves tend to sink to the bottom!

While I typically love ALL things mint, this one just doesn’t do it for me… I found that the watermelon tasted really artificial, and was kind of overpowering. I didn’t really notice the mint until after I took a drink and my throat kind of tingled. It’s not terrible, but overall, I’m not a fan :(

I’m at a sipdown for this and I haven’t reviewed it yet lol, well I have mostly been making this in my iced tea pitcher (brew it half full of tea and top up with water) and it has been quite good that way! Refreshing and sweet, the watermelon is artificial watermelon flavor (that candy like stuff) but it’s good, I don’t like regular watermelon lol. The mint adds a coolness that pairs nicely when iced. If I recall correctly, it was a strange one to drink hot, but once it cooled it was good. A good tea while it lasted, but not one I will purchase again, I have too many other teas I enjoy more.

I don’t like actual watermelon either! People always think I’m crazy for not liking it (love watermelon candy though)

Haha yay I’m not the only one! I will eat it if it is offered to me but I don’t willingly pick it off a fruit plate..it’s too watery or something lol. Watermelon candy is amazing :D

I am obsessed with any tea that contains mint and this one was no exception.

The dry leaves themselves smell lovely. The mint opens up your nostrils. To me it’s definitely the strongest component of the tea as it’s dry form. The rest of the smells is kind of all over the place besides the melon.

I steeped my tea 5 mins with a dab of agave. The smells of apple and melon finally start coming out towards the end of the process.. The tea has a beautiful pinky amber color.
As for the final result. The mint still comes on top: it’s really refreshing! You get this sweet taste of watermelon lingering in your mouth and you can taste a bit of the apple. I can’t say that I taste any of the carrot, although you can clearly see them with the leaves. Overall a very lovely tea. PERFECT for summer.

I made it iced too, added a bit more of the agave and it turned out so refreshing by the pool. My family loved it.

Decided to have this tea hot AND cold today!

Brewed up 9g of this in a 24oz mason jar and poured that into my water bottle, and I had like a lot of leaves left and I totally felt like I could still squeeze a bit of flavour out of them so I just took all the leaves, threw it into my Perfect Infuser, brewed it in boiling water for forever and I’m drinking it hot now!

Dude. It’s pretty good! Nice and refreshing melon flavour, though it does taste like an artificial watermelon.. but it’s still fairly nice. And I love the addition of the peppermint. Though it’s hot, it’s very refreshing.

My cold brew is sitting in the fridge right now. I’ll edit this in an hour or so. Just going to drop a couple ice cubes into it and take it with me to class :)

So on Monday I undercooked some fiddleheads and gave myself intense food poisoning. As in, I’m still sick today, three days later. So that means this has been coldbrewing in the fridge for three days. But I’m feeling up to some tea, so I’m working through the cold brews I’ve abused so I can stave off dehydration.

The mint is actually really helping, but the melon…ugh.

I am not sorry to see this go.

This is surprisingly refreshing, and tastes (and smells) like what it says on the label: watermelon and mint.

Watermelon is one of those flavours I hate in candy (like in Jolly Ranchers) because when it’s done badly, it tastes so artificial I want to gag.

This tastes kind of artificial, but it’s not overpowering, and it’s still nice and refreshing. You can taste the mint, as well as some of the honeydew, while the carrot and beet and apple are really there for colour and mouthfeel.

I bought one of David’s Tea’s iced-tea sample packs of this, and brewed it according to their instructions: 1 ounce of the dried leaf, 1 L of 95C water for 7 minutes, then add 1 L of ice. Quite refreshing. Also, it’s a sipdown. But consider me won over.

caile

I bought one of those packs as well but haven’t made it yet. This sounds promising!

Ooh, I forgot to mention that I sweetened this with some agave nectar. One of the big pluses in its favour is that the peppermint in the blend doesn’t get harsh or chemically – it just adds a nice pop. And it’s a real purty shade of pink, just like watermelon juice.

caile

ooh, pretty! I often sweeten iced teas a bit as well.

Even better, the husband liked it! I poured myself a glass today, nearly finished it, then came upstairs to refill it, only to find out that he had emptied the rest of the pitcher himself!

(rubs hands gleefully in an evil manner) It appears my plans to convert him to tea are progressing…

caile

Haha – that’s great! Mine is also converting and enjoying tea. Sometimes he’ll even ask for a cup and if I’ll make some…and he used to say he didn’t like tea!

mj

I love the e-vil plans. When I graduate and move in with my BF (he lives in MD now), I totally plan to convert him as well. The plans are already progressing. Muahahaha

Man, the summer collection from DT this year so far is can’t miss! Another delicious offering! As I wanted to make this iced, I was a little wary of the mint flavour (I love it in hot teas, but iced is hit or miss), but as soon as I took my first sip, all my worries about that vanished. This is so good. And I didn’t even add sweetener, which apparently makes the melon flavour come out even more (I may try that at a later date, even though I usually do all my iced teas unsweetened). This blend is definitely a win!

I really like this tea – I wasn’t too sure about a watermelon tea but this is super refreshing iced. Yes, I agree there is a slight artificial taste but I’m happy to ignore that because it is just so refreshing!! I can see myself drinking a lot of this through the summer season (which seems to have stated already in Southern California – 102 here today… BOOOOOO!!)
