Prairie Berry

I got this as a sample with my order, and while it was hot I thought it wasn’t bad. But as it cooled it became sickly sweet, and the artificial flavor reminded me of those blueberry LipSmackers. I actually had to toss the rest.

Not only that, but the smell clung to the rubber lid of my timolino, and even after two overnight soaks and washes with soap/vinegar/baking soda, the fake berry taste was still creeping into other teas I made in there! I usually don’t give ratings this low but sometimes you just gotta vent, and who better to understand tea troubles than fellow Steepsters! Ahh ok I feel much better now :)

Vanilla Beans sent me 4 generous samples of some DT blends 3 I’ve never owned/had only once & one I love. I’m determined to drink/at least try any new teas I get.

So I had this one today.
Well it’s lightly berry like, but just generic berry. I am definetly not getting any maple syrup.

Overall just not liking this one. I’ll finish my mug but that’s it. It’s rather bland.

I used 1.4 tablespoons of dry leaf for 375 ml of water.

The aroma of the tea reminds me primarily of packaged berry oatmeal. I can detect the oolong as well as a sweetness which it likely sourced from the maple syrup.

Very sweet on the sip. The taste of this tea also reminds me of mixed berry oatmeal. I do appreciate the presence of oolong flavour (the oolong seems like a quality oolong that I would enjoy drinking on its own) and delightful astringency and toasted-ness imparted to the cup, however, I am not sure if it is best paired with a berry-type profile. I am detecting a sweetness and hint of saltiness near the end of the sip. The berry taste is a bit more on the artificial side. I can almost pull out the flavour of maple syrup from the mix but it is either very well blended or too faint for good taste detection.

As the tea cools, I’m getting hints of peppery notes.

This one’s really good! I love the berries in this – far better than Blueberry Jam, which it initially reminded me of. There’s a hint of sweetness in every sip that really makes this tea quite amazing.

I had this in a to go cup the other day from Davids because I had been wanting to try it for a while. It smells like something! I don’t know what the thing is that it smells like, but it reminded me of something I’ve drank in the past.

The colour is a nice yellow tea colour. Very traditional look here. The taste is very berry-y. I really liked it actually. I have decided I like fruity oolongs. I would consider getting more of this. However the flavour is a little off somehow, so I can see how others might not like it.

I bought this from the David’s tea by my house and I definitely was not disappointed
I brewed a cup and took it to work as it was a fairly cold day and boy was it good
The taste of the berries was strong but did not cover up the taste of the oolong and the maple syrup in it just adds to everything and gives it a light, almost sugary taste to it which I thought was great
in all it is probably one of my favorite tea right now

Well I know absolutely nothing about Saskatoon or Saskatchewan in general, I have only been through it once in a vehicle and I slept and the other times I have flown over it so I am generally too busy watching a movie and enjoying a utterly horrible in-flight meal!

I got this tea as a sampler pack from DAVIDsTEA with an online order and I decided to grab this and a coco chai rooibos pack as I was rushing out the door to work this morning. I brewed Prairie Berry first, naturally because it has caffeine content to it and that is something we can all use on a Monday morning back to work.

As soon as I opened the package I knew I was most likely going to enjoy this tea, up to this point I had yet to try or even smell this one and it sits on the tea wall at my local store. It had a nice jam aroma to it similar to Blueberry Jam; however this smelled more sweet. Steeping the tea brought out a sweet smelling berry aroma that had me drooling waiting for it to be ready to drink.

The final brew is quite dark and sweet smelling, the taste is utterly awesome I don’t know why I have passed by this one so many times, I mean I freaking LOVE blueberry jam and while this is similar it has a totally different flavor profile. I wish I had of grabbed some of this one instead of the copious other oolongs I grabbed from Davids, basically the entire collection minus Prairie Berry and Pineapple Oolong. This will certainly be a main one I keep, I dare say I may like it more then Long Life Oolong :O

Had to pick this one up because I’m a prairie girl, haha. Wish it had a bit more of the berry flavor, the smell was delicious but it didn’t quite come through strong enough in the taste! Still good though! I don’t have alot of berry/fruit flavor tea so I know I will drink this one!

As Thanksgiving eve approaches and a chill nips the night air and the need for warmer blankets grows stronger tonight’s tea has done the trick. This oolong blend provides that ‘in’ to trying Saskatoon berries without having to search for them at the store. It’s definitely a deep flavored berry and is complimented by its partners in this tea. I like how the maple syrup adds just the right amount of sweetness to let the berries shine.

I can really imagine this easily being served during dinner with the Thanksgiving staples as an alternative to the traditional cranberry jelly without anyone missing the jelly. (Not that any would be tempted to do such a thing, right?) Haha. In any case I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend and delectable dinners on Monday!

Wahoo! Got my shipment from Davids Tea yesterday…the same day the fall collection was announced (poopy). But, I’m so excited to try some new teas: Prairie Berry, Fantasy Island, Salted Caramel and Nepal black tea. And since I had my tea shipped to my work, I got to show it all to my coworkers and started a great discussion about tea. Too bad there isn’t a Davids Tea in Red Deer :(

I digress. I started with Prairie Berry, you know with being from Saskatchewan and all. There sure are a lot more cranberries than Saskatoon berries in there. The smell was everything I expected from this tea. I did, however, forget about it in my steeper while I was working so it sat for more than 15 minutes. I tried to redeem it with a bit of maple sugar after the first few sips that were so not so yummy. The sugar helped a little, but I really think I messed up the whole thing. Yet, I did like the berry flavour once I got over the bitterness.

I’m not going to rate this yet, not until I make it properly and give it a good chance.
