From Tealish

A fruity, smooth tea with elderberries, red currants and apples. Sweet and delicious this tea is great hot or iced!

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS: Herbal tea can be infused for as long as you like. We recommend steeping for 4-6 minutes in boiling water. Use 1 tsp loose leaf tea per 6-8oz of water.

Cold Brew Sipdown (151)!

Thanks to VariaTEA for the sample! I’ve tried a few different “Prairie Berry” themed teas, and I’ve quite liked them though my favourite has definitely been the Saskatoon Berry oolong offered by DAVIDsTEA. This is actually the first one I’ve tried that hasn’t used Saskatoon berries, and I do think that’s a bit of an odd choice. What makes this a prairie berry inspired tea?

But it doesn’t taste bad – I expected to be hit with a whole lot of tartness and I definitely got some tartness but mostly a relatively mellow, smooth berry blend that was refreshing and relatively juice like. Strongest note was the elderberry, but I got lots of apple too. VariaTEA seems to have found this one cloying, but I thought it was actually very nicely balanced. I appreciated what it offered even if I feel somewhat cheated that this “Prairie Berry” tea didn’t offer any Saskatoon Berries.

Thanks VariaTEA!

Sipdown (149)

My plan was to try this hot before I sent the rest of the leaf off to Roswell, who introduced me to Prairie Berry teas except this cooled before I got to it.

So now I am drinking a cool prairie berry tea and its alright but nothing special. I think it is better prepped hot than cold brewed because it brings out more tartness which is needed to balance the sweetness of this tea. Even cooled, I am getting just a hint of that cloying taste that I imagine might not have been in the hotter cup. Luckily, it is still tolerable enough to drink, unlike the cold brew. Here’s hoping that RS has better luck with this one. My advice is have it as a teapop.
