Bravissimo

This reminds me a whole lot like Aveda’s Comfort Tea, probably due to the licorice. I got this on a recommendation from a DT salesgirl and I’m glad I got just 1 oz. only because I still own over half a box of the Aveda tea. I’m not sick and this is definitely something I would enjoy any night.

Edited to add: I think that the licorice, depending on the sip, can vary in strength and that sip may not always be so pleasant. Hard to explain but I found that around the middle of my cup I had some bad sips and some good sips. I’m in the middle with this one!

I have been down with a sore throat for approximately the last forever, and there’s only so many cups of Cold 911 a girl can drink. So, off to David’s to find an alternative. I picked this based on the pleasant, light chamomile smell; if I had known it contained liquorice, I probably would have run a mile. Just as well it doesn’t taste of liquorice at all to me, then (maybe I dodged the gross, gooey bullet and got a scoop with no liquorice nastiness in, but I’ve found this to be pretty much consistently the case). It reminds me of Mothers’ Little Helper without the sledgehammer “SLEEP NOW” effect, so it’s become my pre-bedtime sipper. Nice zesty aftertaste, as well.

Blaugh. I SO wanted to love this tea. Maybe I used too much, or steeped it too long (1 heaping DT perfect spoon, 7 m), but I yuckyshudder hate it :-(

The licorice taste completely overwhelms every mouthful, and stays on my tongue long after the tea is finished – the chamomile is hidden a bit… pokes out now and again, but then there’s that curlmytoesin sharp heavy licorice taste again.

(sigh) I was hoping to relax a little before bed with this one, but all I have is an unhappy tongue, and a screwed up face.

I guess I can’t love everything…

I am giving this a really good review because of its function. When I had a sore throat, I tried this tea out and the heat from the water and the cooling licorice really soothed my throat. I was really happy that it worked! As for the taste, I wasn’t the biggest fan, but it just ok for me. I don’t think this tea was made for optimal tasting pleasure, rather to help those with sore throats.

I love this tea for bedtime. I drink it every night before bed. I think it is a helpful sleep aid. It is also soothing. I am very upset that David’s Tea is not currently making it.

one of my all time favourite teas when I have a cold and I can’t taste a thing. The licorice root gives a wonderful cooling aftertaste that soothes my throat. I chug this down by the tub full and my voice and throat thank me

One of my all time favourite teas. I love the ingredients and licorice taste. It is very calming and requires no additives.

I hate this tea so much, but it always helps with colds. Finally happy to get this out of my cupboard, though that doesn’t mean that it won’t be back in a few months (I’m hoping some good old peppermint tea can help do the trick for now…)

This is just too sweet for me, I hate the stevia that’s added to it and I’m not at all fond of licorice. But when I’m sick, all of those flavors get very toned down and it’s cooling, a bit of mint (?) shines through and some lemongrass possibly. It’s refreshing and soothing, but only when I’m sick, haha.

I’m starting to notice a trend that I do not like licorice in my teas…only in candy form please :)

I dont really know why no one likes this tea xD It’s actually the reason I got into David’s. It’s got strong chamomille and licorice flavours so I guess if you dont like licorice its a no-go. Personally I adore the sweetness it brings to the tea and the some-what bitter after taste. If you like black licorice than this will be your holy grail! Its also one of those teas you can munch on the leaves (I always leave my leaves in as I drink)
