Our Featured Reblend for our Trick or Treat Theme for October 2020!

This blend is one that got quite a few votes for our most recent 12 Teas of Christmas poll – so I decided to reblend it for our Halloween/Trick or Treat theme for this month. It seemed appropriate, right?

This is a v.2 because the base tea is a little different. In the original (Frank’s) version, he used a blend of Gunpowder & Young Hyson green teas. I didn’t have any Young Hyson in stock, so instead, I used my tea blend of organic Gunpowder & Chun Mee green teas instead. I also added cornflower blossoms for a little bit of color.

Even with this change, I find the flavor here to be quite similar to what I remember from the original blend. Granted, it’s been a while since I had Frank’s original version of this tea, but what I remember is that I tasted Blueberry & Cotton Candy notes & that’s just what I’m getting here.

Frank’s original description went like this:

Just in time for Halloween! We’ve blended Young Hyson and Gunpowder green teas, freeze-dried blueberries and organic flavors to create the most amazing blueberry cotton candy flavored green tea EVER. I will NOT be able to reblend this one right now, as this used up the last of my green teas for the moment, so don’t miss out!

As I said, this blend varies slightly because of the base difference, but if you liked that blend, I think you’ll also enjoy this one. It’s organic, VEGAN, gluten-free & allergen-free! (It’s also super tasty!)

organic ingredients: green teas, blueberries, cornflower petals & natural flavors

I have a few different packages of this floating around; hopefully this is the right place for this one. It was satisfying.

If it’s one that I crafted – this would be the right place, I would say. The versions that I made are different from Frank’s original version.

I just don’t like this one.

This is my second time trying it, as I figured I’d give it a second chance, but I still feel the same way as I did before. The flavoring and the base here is such a weird combination for me, the gunpowder is quite mineral and a touch smoky (as I would expect). And then to have a fruity candy flavor on top of it is just odd. But really, I just have an issue with the flavoring itself. I assume it’s the cotton candy that is tasting super chalky and powdery to me, and reminding me of Tums.

Nope, not for me! I’ll save the rest of the packet for a swap or TTB where someone else will enjoy it more. :)

Bleh…chalky and powdery doesn’t sound the best.

Cameron B.

To be fair, I’ve had issues with berry-flavored things tasting chalky in the past, so it’s entirely possible it’s just me.

Courtney

That’s fair, but such an unfortunate experience.

I had quite an interesting day yesterday. Kevin Smith has been my idol since I was 14 years old. So… for quite a long time. He means so much to me, and despite seeing him live a couple dozen times, I had never had the chance to meet him. Fast-forward to yesterday: I’m ago work, and it’s quite slow…and Kevin Smith walks by. I was absolutely paralyzed by shock. He disappeared. I lost my chance. An hour later, he walks by again! I ended up getting up enough courage to say hello. I started choking up [embarrassing], but I was able to tell him how important he is to me, and we had a nice little chat. Honestly, I’m still quite shocked that it happened, but very very thankful.

As for the tea, I had left this at work and it seemed like a perfect option to celebrate the joyous happening, and to settle my nerves. I’ll be sad when this one is gone.

How awesome that you got to meet your idol! I’m glad to hear that it turned out good for you, that he took the time to have a chat with you.

That’s so cool for you Amanda about Mr. Smith! I have this in my subscription box and haven’t gotten to it yet. :)
