This tea is part reblend, part re-imagining. One tea that sold pretty well was the Boo-Berry Cotton Candy Green Tea that we reblended as part of a “You Choose the Reblend” incentive from our start-up Kickstarter campaign. I happened to have some Zomba Steamed green tea from the Satemwa Estate in Malawi on the shelf and I was trying to think of something to do with it – and since Halloween was approaching, I thought, “Ohh! How about the Boo-Berry Cotton Candy but with the Zomba steamed green tea base? That should be spook-tacular!”
And it is! This is hauntingly delicious! (OK, enough of the Halloween wordplay, already!)
An abundant blueberry AND cotton candy flavor to this – with a lovely sweet, creamy note that hints at vegetation from the Zomba base.
So tasty!
I know I’ve said this before, but I have the greatest job on earth! Not only do I get to think up teas to blend – but I also get to be the first one tasting them! Now, granted, that first taste doesn’t always work out quite as planned, but more often than not, the tea tastes amazing.
Like now! This is so good! I actually kinda figured it would taste great because I loved Frank’s original batch of this tea and I loved my reblend that we put out a couple of years ago. Yes, this IS somewhat different due to the Zomba steamed base, but it’s still quite delightful!
The blueberries play well with the cotton candy essence – the cotton candy is, of course, sugary sweet and the blueberries are also sweet but there’s enough tartness to them that it offers a hint of contrast. The flavor of the green tea is light yet lush, with notes of vegetation – but mostly, it’s smooth and refreshing.
Really, really good. YUM!
Ingredients: fair-trade, rain forest alliance certified green tea, organic freeze-dried blueberries, and natural flavors
Brewing Instructions: because the leaf is rather bulky and doesn’t really measure very well, I recommend using a tea spoon (the kind you stir your tea with, not the kind you measure baking ingredients with) and measuring out about a heaping spoonful of the tea to 12 ounces of hot water (heated to 175°F) and let it steep for about 2 minutes. Strain and allow to cool for a few minutes (five-ish) and enjoy!
This tea doesn’t need to be sweetened, but a little bit of sugar will bring out the cotton candy notes and make it taste just a bit more like blueberry cotton candy.
What a beautiful kitty!
Wonderful kitty (we actually have very similar one) and wonderful tea. Is something more to want?
“…a completely black cat with Granny Smith apple green eyes..” – I liked that descriptive detail. Came strait from a discerning tea review.
Hi Chiya :)
Chiya is a beautiful cat!
Thanks! She is quite happy that her replacement teaser wands have arrived! (Such a spoiled beast!)
