From 52teas

We’re pushing the envelope again this week! With some bottled beverage manufacturers offering sodas made with tea, we thought we would put a different spin on it and offer a tea flavored with soda! Here’s our Cherry Vanilla Cola flavored black tea.

Proving once again that we’re not your Aunt Beatrice’s tea blender, this blend has real cherries, vanilla bean pieces and all natural cola flavor. It’s a great tea for a tea soda, so we’re posting our tea soda recipe for those of you who are interested.

Nope. This isn’t for me. I tied it hot, cold, and as a tea pop and I just couldn’t get it to taste that good.

Sorry.

Sil

i can’t rememebr (and steepster won’t let me check) if kittenna and i bought a bag of this one to share.

OMGsrsly

I have to admit I`m curious. Is it similar to the DavidsTea Cherry Cola? :)

TeaLady441

Yeah, without the terrible artificial sweetness that DT’s version had.

Sil

hmmm this IS in my cupboard. I’ll have to try it sooner rather than later…maybe i’ll love it. I liked cuba libre well enough

52teas really got the scent right on this tea, it smells just like cherry vanilla coke. The cherry and vanilla flavors seem to dissolve into each other alongside the cola flavor which makes it taste very similar to the real thing. I think this tea is even better with a tiny bit of sugar. This isn’t my favorite offering from 52teas, but they accomplished what they set out to do: create a tea that tastes like cherry vanilla cola.

Well I wasn’t sure about this tea after trying DavidsTea’s cola tea. Which is….. Bleh…. But this. This is pretty delicious. It’s light in flavor and it even has a fizzy feel to it. The flavors are not overpowering and blend well. Can’t wait to try this iced. :)

What about their tea soda recipe?

KallieBoo!

I haven’t tried that yet :/

Now this is more like it!! It really does taste like a cherry vanilla coke! It’s smooth, and almost has an effervescent taste as well. The cherry is lighter than the vanilla, but I think that makes it better (since some cherry-vanilla things drown the vanilla in the cherry). I wish I had some vanilla ice cream to make a float out of this tea…I know it would be amazing!

Oh, and thanks, Meghann, for sending me some of this and the pumpkin pie!

I won’t rate this as I’m selling it in my shop. But I will say this. Frank really earned the title the Willy Wonka of Teas! Smells very much like cherry vanilla cola when you open the pouch. I smelled more of the cherry flavor while it was steeping. When I had my first hot sip it did in fact taste like cherry vanilla cola. So I opted to serve this one over ice and add in two splashes of regular cola to it and it is delish (at least to me AND my husband actually wants to try it! But I’m not sharing this glass.).

Um… not rating a tea you had absolutely no part in creating makes absolutely no sense…

IllBeMother221B

I don’t want to sway folks one way or another with the number rating. Personal preference I guess.

Uniquity

I can see how cold would be better than hot. It’s very weird hot. : )

This tea smelled delicious dry…and steeped. But the taste…it just fell flat, pardon the pun. My wife just about said it all: It tastes like drinking a candle. I didn’t care for this one at all, which made me sad. I always want to love the teas from 52teas, because everyone raves about them, but I never do. I own six and none of them live up to what I expect.

Maybe we’re not meant to tea.

(Get it? Get it? I’m funny)

Did you try it iced? I preferred it iced with a splash of soda water.

Daddyselephant

I’m going to, it’s next on my list! :)

Indigobloom

it sounds like it should be yummy indeed!! I do love cherries… maybe you need to let the flavours sink in for a bit? I’ve heard that suggested elsewhere

Daddyselephant

I’m going to try it iced, but if that doesn’t improve the flavor, you are more than welcome to it, Indigobloom!

Way way Backlog:

The beau did up some of this sometime last week. Will do a proper tasting note later, but my recollection of this went as follows:

-Accurate smell
-Accurate taste
-It’s weird to taste cherry vanilla coke HOT.

Definitely need to try iced (and I’m NOT much of an iced tea person). Will also definitely try hot again. If I could get used to those flavours hot, it would be fab!

Muiriddin

Okay, this just sounds so strange… Did any of the Tea come through or was it all Cherry, Vanilla and Cola?

Uniquity

Amazingly, there was tea, cherry, vanilla AND coke all at once. You could definitely taste the black tea (which might have been what made it so weird). The coke taste mostly went away in steeping, but the smell was still there. I think if it had been brewed stronger it would have been even better.

Got busy with calls from work (gotta love being on-call on the weekend) and forgot that I had begun steeping this tea! After a good 25-30 minutes I thought I may have to throw it out, decided to add a good amount of milk and reheat. I also added a little sugar. It’s actually quite tasty! Tastes like creamy warm vanilla cherry coke, lol. Will wait to rate it when I steep it a bit more conventionally. ;)

Oh, by the way, Thank you Miss Meghann M for sending this my way!!

Kristen

This tea intrigues me! Sounds yummy

I’ve tried it hot, I don’t like it; I’ve tried it iced by flash-chilling (make with hot water then pour over ice), I don’t like that either; I’ve tried it iced by cold brewing, and I don’t like that.

If I brew it for 5 minutes I can taste the cola, cherry and vanilla, but the tea has stewed and tastes unpleasant, if I brew for less time the tea tastes okay but the flavour mix is insipid. Basically, to me it tastes like watered down panda pop that’s been in the back of the car for seven or eight months (I was seven and I still remember that flavour quite clearly.)

I tend to agree. I love cherry cola so when I saw this, it was a must-try for me, even though I was preparing myself for inevitable disappointment. I wasn’t quite as displeased as you, I was disappointed that I was that disappointed by it, if that makes sense.

Mac

I really don’t think I’m going to be able to bring myself to finish it and I hate not being able to finish a packet of tea. :( I adore vanilla coke, so the smell when I opened the it was great, it’s just the taste that’s the (severe) problem.

Southern Boy Teas

Maybe you would enjoy it more as a tea soda:

How to make a TEA SODA This is how we make them at Zoomdweebie’s Brew about 1/3 cup of strong flavored tea like our Cherry Vanilla Cola flavored Black Tea. Disolve 1/2 cup sugar into tea. Allow to cool or pour over ice. Finish with about eight ounces of carbonated water or “sparkling water”. Stir and enjoy!
Mac

I really don’t think the addition of sparkling water and such vast amounts of sugar is going to make a difference. And honestly, if I wanted that much sugar I’d drink an actual coke.

Angrboda

I tried something like that. My amounts were likely a little different, but in principle that’s what I did. It didn’t work for me.
But luckily I also like carbonated water plain (it’s like ordinary water but with a little kapow!) so it wasn’t a complete loss.
