737 Tasting Notes
Ahhhhh, yes. This is more my speed this morning. I don’t know what I was thinking, messing around with a fruity green. I need something that will get my motor running.
This is perfect. A stout, hardy, nutty, full-bodied black tea. This stuff packs a wallop with flavor, and is just an all-around perfect “wake the hell up” tea.
I think my loose green blends have spoiled me. I just can’t enjoy bagged greens anymore. They all taste the same to me- slightly bitter and floral. Even this one, which is supposed to be pomegranate flavored.
This just tastes like a cup of boiled flowers to me. I’m not getting any pomegranate at all.
I think maybe the company advises steeping it at too high a temp- they recommend 195 degrees Fahrenheit. I steeped it at about 190, even though I usually like my greens at about 175. I think I’ll try this again at 175 some other time and give this one a rating then.
Preparation
The wind was sooooo strong today! Traveling across campus was a real struggle.
This was the perfect antidote. Chai is the best tea for winter afternoons. Plus, the coconut made me think of summertime/ tropical islands/ not being here.
For once, I managed not to oversteep it, too. The coconut had an almost-oily presence, very similar to the texture of actual coconut milk, and the spices underpinned it nicely.
I didn’t add any milk or sweetener of any kind to it. It doesn’t need it! It’s perfectly delicious on its own.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Coconut, Nutmeg
I don’t think anyone drinks this tea “for fun.” It wouldn’t help against something severe, like strep throat, but for a common cold or an annoying tickly throat feeling (such as the one I have currently), this tea is at your service. It relieves the irritation for a little while. I’d rather drink tea than take pills, though, so I may be biased.
This one tastes MUCH better than TM’s regular Throat Coat (I much prefer lemon over cherry bark… the cherry reminds me too much of cough syrup. Trying to gulp down a steaming mug of Robitussin? No thanks) and adding echinacea is always a good idea, in my opinion.
A lovely, simple, no- nonsense peppermint bagged tea. I drank it last night in the vain hope that it would magically alleviate the nasty tickly feeling in my throat. It helped, but it’s not magic, after all.
It was sweet, which is nice, because many times, peppermint can develop a rather nasty bite to it (hence, “pepper” mint).
No complaints here, friends! I would recommend this one as a soothing bedtime tea because it’s so mild.
This was quite good! It tasted mostly like fresh juicy peaches, with just a hint of ginger in the aftertaste. I let the bag steep for way longer than it should have, but the black tea base proved to be quite nonaggressive and agreeable.
Overall, not the most balanced of blends, but good in a pinch when I want a flavored tea but don’t have time to prepare one of my loose-leaf blends.
