drank Ginger by Yogi Tea

YOW! This tea is SPICY. I also found that it’s a little tempramental in terms of steep time. Just a few seconds too long, and it’s almost impossible to drink. Normally, I love and trust Yogi teas, but man, this one has a bite to it. It’s not just the ginger- I know full well that ginger is spicy- I think it’s the black pepper that’s too much for me.

I drink it only for medicinal purposes, because it certainly does help settle my stomach some nights, but it can be a little tough to take. I do enjoy the warm feeling it leaves in my throat and stomach, but I usually end up waiting until it’s cool enough, and then gulping it down quickly to avoid tasting it too much. Definitely not my favorite ginger blend ever, but it hasn’t turned me off to Yogi or to other ginger teas, either.

This is just a really nice tea. Normally, I don’t find Bigelow blends to be anything special, but this one really makes the whole experience of drinking a ginger tea so much more pleasant than other ginger blends I’ve tried. It’s not spicy at all, and the lemon part is really nicely balanced and sweet, not tart or overpowering. Plus, probiotics are always a good thing. I’ll probably be buying another box of this soon.

This is a really good flavor idea! I tried this before I had ever tried just plain oolong, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The mint is not as overpowering as you might suspect at first, which is wonderful (if I wanted just plain mint tea, I’d MAKE just plain mint tea, right?). The chocolate takes a little coaxing from sugar and milk to come out, but once you add a little of both, the tea is simply delicious- fully balanced, and it feels like you’re indulging, even though it’s perfectly healthy and low-calorie (even more so if you opt for skim milk).

I’ve since tried plain oolong, and I can tell that the oolong used in this blend is of good quality. The chocolate flavoring really flatters the earthy flavor of the oolong, and the hint of mint adds a beautiful finish. I will definitely be buying this again. Well done, Stash!

This tea didn’t taste like I thought it would at all. It’s a very smoky flavor. Not exactly unpleasant, but it definitely takes some getting used to.

Like it says on the box, don’t make it with boiling water, because it will be bitter. I like to put the electric kettle on for about a minute or two, and then pour it over the teabag and let it steep for five to seven minutes.

I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago, and switched to tea full-time. Now I drink this mate when I need an extra energy boost- it’s awesome because it won’t give me the coffee jitters.

Finally, about this brand- Guayaki doesn’t use a lot of smoke-roasted yerba mate leaves. The smoke-roasted ones are the ones that can cause cancer- they use air-dried instead when they can. And this tea is also organic and grown sustainably. So the company overall is pretty ethical and cares about their customer’s health. If you’re going to drink yerba mate, I highly recommend Guayaki’s!

I have had slight sinus and tickly throat irritations for a few days now, and I decided to try this because there was a bag of it in a tea tin that my housemate’s mom gave to us. It tasted wonderful! Lemony and sweet. I could feel it soothing my throat as I drank it, and for a little while after, too. It’s not going to help against strep or anything serious like that, but it can make recovering from a minor cold quite pleasant.

This tea is AMAZING. It tastes wonderful, and I felt a lot better after I drank it. I left the teabag in the water the whole time with no problem, too. Highly recommend this tea to anyone who has a cold or can feel one coming on.

I’m on a total Echinacea/ Vitamin C kick right now, with cold and flu season fast approaching. This tea is pretty good. I taste more of the honey flavor than the lemon, but I didn’t really mind. Don’t steep it for too long, or it will become bitter, unlike its peach-nectarine flavored, caffeinated counterpart by the same company. This one is nice because it’s decaf, so you still get the antioxidant benefits of the green tea without being up all night, should you decide you need an extra immune-system boost before bed. It also has Vitamin C in it, which is always good. As with all Echinacea teas, drink in moderation, because otherwise it will lose its effectiveness.

This tea tastes very strongly of strawberry and rooibos and not very strongly of passion fruit. It’s got the perfect amount of caffeine for an afternoon tea- 10 mg. I drink it to warm myself up when coming in from the cold, or I drink it with lunch sometimes. Overall, it’s definitely not the best tea I’ve ever had, but if you ever want a quick fruity-rooibos pick-me-up, this would be a pretty good option.

drank Huang Shan Mao Feng by Dobra Tea

You do need to use quite a large scoop of leaves in order to taste this one. It’s a very light tea. Its color is a very pale green-yellow, kind of like green tea that hasn’t been steeped long enough. It’s full of umami, and it has a very nutty finish. It’s a very pleasant spring afternoon tea.

This is a delicious bagged green tea! The flavor is perfectly balanced, and you can leave the teabag in the water for as long as you want- it doesn’t get bitter. I’ve started drinking it because it’s cold and flu season, and I’ve heard good things about Echinacea’s positive effects on boosting the immune system. Be careful, though- if you take Echinacea too frequently, it will start to lose its effectiveness. Drink this tea ONLY whenever you feel a cold coming on, until you feel better! It’s delicious and it works!
