116 Tasting Notes
I’m not sure why I bought this but I am glad I did. I had never tasted straight mint tea but I thought it would be something great to have in my cupboard. Right now I am coming down with a cold and it really helps with my sore throat. I add honey to it and it becomes sweet and minty, yum! Way better than chamomile as a cold remedy in my opinion, but both are really good to keep on hand at all times! This morning I am still sick and in the mood for something stronger, so I mixed a tiny bit of this with my nepal black and some honey and it was sooo good! When I am out of this I really want to try the peppermint tea, they didn’t have it in stock the last time I went to the store. I feel like I am going to like it even better than spearmint.
Preparation
I really need to stop buying artifically flavoured teas.. Most of the time they are just too much for me and I get tired of them after a few cups. But every season I just can’t resist trying some of Davidstea special collections teas!
Anyway, this one is my favorite out of the three teas I got from the winter collection. It really tastes like cake. It’s obviously artificial flavouring, but I would say it is nicely done and it doesn’t have a bad or fake aftertaste.
A note for my fellow quebecers : It’s called Brioche fruitée. When I picked it up in the store I didn’t know what to expect because I had never heard that name in my life. Then I realized it probably means Gâteau aux fruits. That is exactly what it tastes like.
Preparation
I am not a pu’erh expert but I liked this one. The packaging is very nice and it’s not fishy. In fact, I ordered a lot of pu’erh samples from Teavivre and so far I haven’t been disappointed by any of them. I would need to do side by side tastings to pick out my favorite.
Preparation
This tea smells incredibly delicious, it reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum. I thought it would taste very fruity with a hint of spices, but it really tastes more almond-y than anything else. It’s good when you know what to expect, but I don’t think I would repurchase it. It has an aftertaste that bothers me, maybe some fake almond/cherry flavour that lingers.
Preparation
I can’t get this one to taste strong enough for my taste. I found it very bland, even with agave and foamed milk added to it with a little cocoa powder sprinkled on top. I thought it would be the perfect dessert tea but it only has a faint nutella aftertaste, I find it disapponting.
Preparation
This is my first Assam tea. I was expecting my first sip to be very strong and flavourful, but I find that it’s mostly strong in the aftertaste and very astringent. It’s good, but I think I prefer other kinds of strong black teas.
Preparation
This is a very strong tea, but I like it that way. It’s good on it’s own, but even better with a little bit of sugar and milk if you’re into that. This is the kind of tea that would do very well in a chaï because it can stand up to the spices. This has become a staple in my cupboard for when I need a stronger cup. Yum!
