This is a very nice, lightly spiced vanilla chai type blend. The spices aren’t very strong but they are certainly present. It reminds me a lot of the rooibos latte that Starbucks used to have. I think it was Tazo brand? It was my favorite for a while.
Looking at the ingredients, it does have rooibos and also stevia and licorice root (one of which would likely explain the slight artificial sweet note I picked up on in the very beginning). It’s been several years since I last tried this blend and my last note mentioned a bitterness, but I do not taste it here now. It must have been because I steeped it so much longer last time.
Thank you, Michelle, for sending a bag of this in my box. It’s definitely one I could see myself drinking regularly. It has some great ingredients.

I haven’t been logging as many teas lately because I feel like I’ve been drinking the same ones over and over. It’s my first time to try this particular tea though so here we go. This is the first Yogi tea I’ve seen that actually has tea in it. My husband had a cup and absolutely loved it so I’m trying it today with a little honey and cream. It’s bitter but I let it steep too long so I’m sure that’s on me. The honey helps to tame it. But it’s more like a bitter root than a bitter tea so it may just be one of the ingredients. The flavor is good, though there is not as much chai spice as I had hoped. The description says this tea energizes without the jittery side effects but I actually do feel a little jittery.
Yogi Thought of the Day: Live through consciousness, not through emotion.
Consciousness: the state of being awake and aware of one’s surroundings; the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world.
This Yogi quote is actually quite relevant at the moment. We’ve started doing yoga these past three weeks (our yoga “practice”) and our teacher has really been stressing being mindful of our bodies and staying connected and grounded. I’ve also been reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and thinking not only of what will make me happy but also of what will make me a better person. Yoga is one of these things. Taking care of my body through yoga, eating healthy (green smoothies!), and basic care is becoming more important to me as I get older. Also on my list, learning patience and finding kindness again. Reconnecting with my faith and my church. I think it’s just coincidence that this falls around the new year as I’ve been working toward these goals (one at a time) for the past few weeks. I want to be a good person, the wife my husband deserves, and a kind and supportive friend to those around me. I’m being mindful and making it happen. Words have weight and I am trying to focus on speaking them with awareness and not just mindlessly.

On the 18th day of sipdowns..
Okay. I got this today from a promotion Yogi was doing so they sent me two teabags, this and their Spiced Dandelion Detox so it only really half counts as a sipdown because I only had one teabag as it is.
I didn’t actually read the package so it was a surprise when I pulled out the teabag and it was a black tea (I expected an Herbal) but it could work.
My first impression was…soapy. I can’t taste much of the raspberry flavor but there is a bite of ginger towards the end of the sip. It could possibly be flavored with raspberry leaf, which I can’t identify as well. I taste a little bit of peppermint and overall it tastes like herbs – something I’ve come to expect from Yogi and part of why I tend to steer clear.
Overall, I won’t be buying this, but if I’m not feeling well and need a pick me up tea, this could fit the bill.
Edit:
I just read the ingredients and was interested to see that theres pu’erh in this tea. I didn’t taste it and don’t usually care for pu’erh so this gives me hope that maybe sometime I’ll find a pu’erh I like :P

My husband made me drink it…
Feeling dizzy/woozy after my COVID vaccine for some reason, but aside from that I haven’t had any side effects. Well, other than the sore arm. That I expected. Breathe Deep is James’ go-to medicinal tea, now curing all ailments apparently, so I was brought a nearly overflowing cup of it and told to drink ALL of it. Which I didn’t do, of course. I drank half then snuck into the kitchen and tossed the rest down the sink. This stuff is just gross.
Flavors: Licorice
Preparation
This tastes like dirt today for some reason? And licorice. Always the licorice. My cold or whatever it is isn’t getting better so James broke out the ol’ Breathe Deep. He loves it. I hate it. He’s always making me drink it when I’m sick. I think he watered it down a bit so it’s not awful, but again it does taste like dirt so it’s not great either.
Flavors: Dirt, Licorice
Preparation
The licorice is strong with this one (see what I did there??). My husband loves this tea and says that it really works to open and clear his sinuses. He’s been asking me to try this all week so I finally sat down with a cup this morning. The aroma is reminiscent of pine. There is some of that in the flavor as well but it’s mostly licorice. It’s a little better as it cools.
Flavors: Licorice, Pine
Preparation
I’ve been looking for a good bagged rooibos chai, so I ordered five different kinds from Amazon. This is probably my least favorite. I really don’t like cardamon, which is the second ingredient after rooibos, and it has stevia, which often bothers my stomach and tastes unpleasant to me. Even with milk, the cardamon flavor dominated. This may be just what someone else is looking for, but it’s really not for me.
Flavors: Cardamom, Spices, Sweet
Preparation
Used two tea bags. I really like this blend. It’s spicy-sweet with chocolatey notes, though I think the “chocolatey” flavor is actually the carob listed among the ingredients. Soothing and delicious.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Cloves, Sweet
Preparation
I used two bags with 14 oz water. Directions recommend a steep time of 5-10 mintes. Delicious, soothing blend. Sweet with notes of cocoa and vanilla. Also detectable are the sarsparilla, cloves, and cinnamon
Flavors: Cloves, Cocoa, Sarsaparilla, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
I don’t know how helpful this necessarily is for the immune system, but it’s a decent tasting tea, and perhaps it helps some. A lightly sweet green tea/herbal blend with layered flavor. Contains elderberry, which has been shown to support respiratory health.
Flavors: Green, Herbs, Lemongrass, Spearmint
Preparation
LOVE this when I’m feeling ill (I have asthma and sinus issues, so that’s often). A sweet herbal blend with notes of fennel and pepper. Especially nice for the throat with a bit of honey added.
Flavors: Fennel, Licorice, Pepper
I like this one for its caffeine kick, and mellow vanilla spice. And the small bit of wisdom attached to the bag.
I really liked this one – not overly spicy with a nice vanilla creaminess. And I love reading the Yogi tags too!
