I thought Bigelow English Breakfast and Darjeeling tasted the same when I first tried them, but this was when I was new to tea and my palate was even less refined than it is now. I have since moved on to loose leaf, but this is an acceptable fall-back plain black tea.

This WAS my favorite tea until I tried loose leaf teas then went back to this and it doesn’t taste nearly as good anymore, not sure why because I didn’t originally think loose leaf tasted better. This is a dark oolong, which I liked, I thought it tasted similar to black tea but more flavorful. But not anymore which is a major bummer. Maybe I just got a bad batch.
Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – December 2024 Tea #6 – A holiday or celebration tea
2024 Holiday tea #14
This COULD be worse, but after the magic of Angry Tea Room’s Candy Cane tea the other day, it’s just a bit of a let down. But it’s done and gone now!

Holiday tea 2023 #9
From CameronB! Thanks again! The perfect time to try this one. The chicory here is sure to brew this up quite dark. The scent is a little off — probably the ROSE HIPS?!?! but overall, I started chugging it. Cold, I do really get that note of rose hips. I wouldn’t call it the best peppermint bark tea around, but it could have been worse. Really mild on the chocolate, when I was craving a chocolate shake. The second steep somehow loses the rose hips effect. Happy I tried it, not the worst, but there are plenty of other yum choc mint teas I love.
Steep #1 // 14 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 min
I bought this on a whim but it may just be one of my absolute favorite teas I’ve ever had. The vanilla flavor mixed in with the chai spices works really well here and all of the different components complement each other perfectly, creating a smooth, silky, delicious blend. I also like that it’s not overtly sweet but does have some notes of it coming through in just the right amounts. I adore this tea and will be buying more of it.
Flavors: Spices, Vanilla
Argh, sore throat. And I exactly know where I caught it. On today morning train to work. A lady was there coughing all the time, not covering her mouth much effectively… and my day spent with changing environments of office, outside (rainy 7°C), and warehouse wasn’t helpful too.
Tea to the rescue! I guess; Lemon + Ginger could be a nice remedy… I believe I got this tea from postcrossing again too… probiotics is something that wouldn’t hurt for sure, but not really sure if I drank tea with probiotics earlier.
But honestly, I miss both major expected flavours… lemon and where is fiery ginger? I couldn’t notice anything of those. Rather the warming cinnamon and some kind of medicinal creamy flavour; overall covered by licorice root. Drinkable, but not what I have been expecting.
Preparation
Not bad if you are just wanting to try Earl Grey. Has a beautiful black tea and bergamot smell to it, earthy and bold flavor. Bigelow uses real Bergamot fruit from the same family in Calabria Italy for year and its a great fruit. Not the best Earl Grey but still good. I would recommend Twinnings over this brand.
Flavors: Bergamot, Citrus, Dirt, Lemon

Old Tea Bag Sip Down
Part 8. Last one.
This is the oldest-looking bag in the bunch. The floral notes have definitely diminished but there is enough there to be able to tell that it is chamomile without even looking at the bag. The liquor aroma reminds me of cardboard and sweetened apple juice. Probably mixed together by a three-year-old. Oh, and how kind, some wood shavings were added too. The flavor is weak but apple juice and the floral notes still hit.
Well, this was an interesting sipdown. Green tea bags X. Black tea bags okay. Herbals, fine but not amazing.
I have received this US tea from postcrossing and today evening seems to be a great time for that. A bit of sore throat appeared, so extra dose of ascorbic acid won’t hurt and it’s caffeine free, so, yep, evening is great timing.
When I have sniffed the tea bag, I noticed strong lemon aroma, so sour it tickled my nost and spearmint. I wonder if it is that peppermint which is in (is it hat strong?) or lemon verbena (but that’s a different aroma than mint).
When sipped, I thought I bit a lemon peel. Not that strong lemony note and lemongrass dominates here to me. Also, it is a bit medicinal for me, definitely in the aftertaste and powdery like.
Definitely expected more zingy lemon from this tea, almost sour like, but my throat is much better and that’s at least something positive, while the flavours fall a bit off to me.
Preparation
I am done with radiation. The doc is 98% sure he killed those two cancer lesions dead. More scans every 3 months for at least 3 years to be sure to detect any return early. To celebrate I stopped at Sweet Dreams Confections on the way home and bought two raspberry truffles and some expensive gourmet hot chocolate. They also carry some Republic of Tea canisters and some English Tea Shop gift boxes. I did not buy any tea, because, really, I need to drink what I have!
Blech. That $3.99 cup of hot chocolate did not agree with me. Made a cup of this instead. I think I gave this a rating of 70 before, but I am raising it tonight. This tea is very nice. It’s flavor profile is not bold, but tonight it was just the thing.
That sounds like a very good reason to celebrate, hope the ginger helped so you can celebrate further!
Another tea bag from lovely Canadian Postcrossing member. I had a mood for black tea, although hot afternoon says that some light tea would suit the weather better.
Well, this tea is strong. Steeped for recommneded 2 minutes in 300 ml cup. I got a bitter (not astringent) cup full of tobacco. Not a fan!
