807 Tasting Notes
Thanks to Dylan and Missy I can not only add a tasting note but pretty much add this as “in my cupboard” with the amount they sent me! Thank you! It is stormy here and “they” say it is going to be one of the worst storms in history – if you don’t see me around that may be why! One of our dogs, our little papillon, shakes like a leaf when it storms and can’t breathe and we need to sedate her. She is already shaking terribly and it is not even thundering yet. ANYWAY point is and was that this is a great tea to curl up on the sofa with! I am going to enjoy it very much and just relax tonight.
Creamy, non astringent, vanilla, waiting for floral to peek out some, we shall see. :)
Preparation
LOL haha thats right dangit! I do! Hey Im in Kansas – it could be all hype though. Hard to say. Renters insurance for the win! And today – I finally got myself a china hutch! Can you believe it and NOW it wants to STORM? lol it figures!
Doh!!!! Take care. You could always do camp fire tea if the electricity goes. Like camp fire coffee but easier on the tummy. You won’t even have to snip it with scissors when you are done pouring. ;)
“I’m in Kansas – it could be all hype”
My understanding of storms in Kansas is that tornadoes can tear houses from the ground and throw them across dimensions, resulting in death and shoe theft.
Poor doggy! I hope everyone is okay. Both of our dogs are scared of storms. One hides in the basement and seems to calm down there. The other doesn’t like going down stairs and won’t go the basement-if it’s a bad storm, I just have to carry her.
Scott that is what Lyla does! She goes right to the basement until it gets TOO stormy then she comes up stairs and wants to be with us but the poor baby shakes uncontrollably! I would never do this if not necessary but we got her the meds for her own good I was afraid she would have a heart attack.
I understand your dilemma with the sedative. I had a dog that shook so bad, we gave it a sedative, but it made him like a zombie. Hopefully, the drugs are better now. Our dogs don’t get as scared as yours yet-however these things tend to worsen with age. We also have a finished basement, so we will generally find something to do downstairs while it is storming.
Veronica – thank you – we are all just fine -nothing happened last night they say its coming today. It does look gloomy, you can see the storm coming in. I am sure we will be fine and thank you. :)
Thank you Verdant for this lovely sample of which I instantly went and ordered more of!
A lovely wooded flavor with many little surprises along the way!
Light berry notes.
And yes I do like apricot flavored teas – when they are naturally flavored :)
Preparation
Did you ask for this particular sample? I just placed an order myself, am kinda curious as to what sample I might get.
Nope I didn’t its just what they decided to send. I am thinking maybe based on what I had ordered. I did get mostly oolongs and specific notes within the teas such as sparkly. :)
Uh oh, I think I’m going to have to make another Verdant order… I didn’t get this one in my last one and probably should have!!
Well its not apricot “flavored” its the natural notes within the tea but if you are wanting a really apricot tea this would not be THE ONE for you. It has nuisances of apricot but this tea is VERY evolving – with different notes springing forth at different times within one cup let alone a steep! I did a full review for teareviewblog.com but not sure how long it will take for it to be posted.
Very nice – smells like sin – tastes really great too but I had to add a little sugar and milk to make it what I had in mind from the name and smell – still I would buy again it was nice!
Not enough time to do a real review but I give it a thumbs up.
Preparation
What is wrong with Adagio that they would release this for sale? It tastes as if it was soaked in some really rancid frying grease. Sorry Adagio – I won’t tweet this one but Uggggg I expect better from a middle of the road tea company.
Preparation
I had a really good Asian Pear from TeaGschw a couple years ago. The pear was all flavoring, but it tasted nice. I always meant to buy it again. Got a few decent reviews here.
Yw, Azzrian. Apparently, it does have orange blossoms in it-just the pear part is flavoring I guess.
I like to eat pears, but I find pear is not the greatest when added to tea. I have yet to have a tea flavored with pear that tastes good.
Adagio’s flavored white teas taste terrible. When a friend expressed interest in trying tea, I shipped off the white tropic one off to her so fast I probably caused her to not want to drink tea in the end.
I am quite enjoying this! Thank you Steepster Select for my free March box!
I agree with some of the comments Ian has made about this tea it does have a bit of a “smokey” musty flavor to it. I am currently working on a longer review for the Tea Review Blog but I will say that so far I am in love with this tea. No it’s not going to be for everyone. I am surprised at the look of the dry leaf – like yerba mate.
Honestly though its more earthy than smoky and I am perplexed by the name having the word “sweet” in it – I do not find this tea to be naturally sweet.
Anyway I am on steep two so we shall see how it evolves. :)
Preparation
This tea was given to me by a client who is from India. She told me this IS in fact the tea they use to make chai. I have since sent it to a trade buddy who loves Indian black tea.
A friend of mine just recently told me her Indian ex-in-laws used to make chai with a cardamom pod or two and a Lipton tea bag!
I guess so. I have been told that the most popular coffee in Turkey is not Turkish Coffee, but Nescafe.
Yup with the right Masala spices which she also gave me a couple of packs of. Great for a meat rub too.
This is the lowest rating I have ever left for a tea and the only tea I have ever had to dump out but only after gagging on it. I honestly am so so sorry Adagio all of your other teas have been anywhere from good to excellent but this one I just don’t know. Anyone want it?
I won’t even say what it both smelled and tasted like but I see it gets some good to excellent ratings so hey maybe its me.
I just haven’t been able to enjoy Oolong. I bought a good dark oolong, and green oolong from Rishi and…meh. I eventually finished the dark oolong. I gave away most of the green. The green is better than the green I bought from Ten-Ren, but not enough to make me drink it. Maybe my taste buds are just not wired for Oolong.
Scott, are you steeping your oolongs in a gaiwan? I find that gives the best results. Though I do know people that say they just don’t like oolong tea…
Yeah its very possible your palate does not care for it. Gaiwan steeping is the best although admittedly I do western brewing most of the time.
Missy and I were just talking about gaiwans (she wants one). We usually brew western style in a 40 oz pot, and we each have 16 oz mug that we drink from… gaiwan seems like a remarkable change in pace ;)
Oh, no, I don’t have any nice tea pots of any kind. I use a Zojirushi tea boiler and brew by the cup in my glass coffee cup or these glass tea cups I just bought.
It may be my palette. It is interesting though that my palette can differentiate between good quality oolongs and lesser quality.
