This was a blind purchase when DavidsTea had the rainbow tin on 40% off.

At first sniff: When you smell this blend, it’s heavenly. Smells spicy and fruity and they blend together so nicely. The blend smells sweet but the spice balances it out.

At first steep: I have never had this blend warm, only cold. I love it iced. It’s a unique taste compared to other herbal blends because of the cinnamon. It’s so delicious. I usually blend strong and then water down in a pitcher and I have some water for the next couple days when I’m tired of drinking water. I liked this blend so much I bought it when it was on sale for 250gm 40% off. The blend is also a very pretty blend to look at.

Not a good start to the year so far. I have been very on and off with my tea notes. I wanted to do all the teas I drink, but so far haven’t done that.

This was today’s choice. I’m changing my diet significantly and am having this with some almond milk and stevia. It’s delicious. The almond brings out the apricot quite nicely and ends it with a nutty note.

Delicious!

Mmmm, racked up a free drink with Starbucks and decided to run to Starbucks quickly on my break. Ended up ordering a vente even though I’ll never drink the whole thing (something about it being free I guess.)

Extra Hot, No water.

Simply delicious, although I find as I am eating less and less sugar, that it is a big sweet now for my tastes.

Yay for free hot drinks!

You’re always so quick on the draw!!! It’s heavenly. I don’t get to drink many made for me drinks these days. Working from home basically negates the need to leave your house for lunches and breaks. That being said I do like eating and drinking my own stuff in my house. Good for my wallet too. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like being spoiled once in a while.

drank English Rose by DAVIDsTEA

I have wanted to purchase this tea for quite some time. Earlier in 2013, I went to go purchase it and include it in my order to put my order over the 50.00 when I realised I couldn’t find it. I called DT customer service only to be told it had gone on web special and was gone. Discontinued… cast away in the wind.

I had never been partial to rose tea previously, but I do love it and it sends me back to a time almost Downton Abbey-esque, where gloves were required and bone china was a necessity. Not to mention that the blend itself was just so darn pretty. When I noticed it on Boxing Day web specials, I had to have it.

I have already drank this once, but it was amidst having the terrible cold I am just finally recovering from. Today I decided to brew it.

At first sniff: Indeed, this smells of sweet summer roses. The chocolate is an after note, but a very nice touch indeed. It doesn’t hover into the realm of potpourri or offensive perfumes and eau du toilettes, which is always a plus in my eyes. The chocolate brings out the sweet note in the rose aroma as well.

At first steep: The smell translates exactly as it smells dry. I added some cream and sugar to this brew and it enhances the notes of rose and chocolate beautifully. I feel I should be wearing a big “My Fair Lady” hat and reciting “The Rain and Spain” or some other sort of small talk. Simply delicious and one of my favourite DavidsTea. It is such a shame they have discontinued it, but at least I have 250g to enjoy. J’adore!!!

Allow me to recommend rose scented by Harney & Sons. Also an excellent rose tea, great with cream and sugar.

Tuscanteal

Oh lala, more rose teas!!! When I finally put in my H&S order, it will make it into my shopping cart for sure :)

great! It’s really something else. Perhaps due to the sort of smoky base tea.

A nice touch from the Fairmont with their Empress Tea. It’s a a black Orange Pekoe style tea. Nice touch making the tea bags with loose leaf in them. They serve two cups of tea, so a nice serving.

I oversteeped mine though I think. Was slightly astringent. Will try for less time next time, but a nice addition to my morning :)

Had this one mid morning with my coconut flour pancakes. I think I must have oversteeped this because it was a bit dry and astringent. I didn’t enjoy it as much today. Will change to 4 mins next time

This is my go-to easy Genmaicha tea. I have bought loose varieties before and haven’t been able to come close to what they taste like when you have them at your favourite sushi joint. This tea tastes the closest. It might not be the most sophisticated, but it is definitely affordable. I’m disappointed at the reviews for it on here, but I understand. The only other tea I’ve tried that even comes close to the “sushi” taste it he DT one.

At first sniff: I don’t really smell a whole lot… maybe toasted rice.

At first steep: Toasted rice and green (if you can imagine what green smells like.) It tastes toasty and crisp. It’s probably my favourite thing to drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I don’t always make breakfast first thing, but want something. Sometimes I reach for a breakfast black, but when I have this stocked, I reach for this 9 times out of 10. I guess familiarity rings true when rating teas and this is why I rate it so high :)

Why Hello Christmas Tea.

I received this as a gift from my bestfriend and tea influence. I like Murchie’s Teas, they are affordable and who can’t help but support a long running company that is Canadian! (I think it is at least??)

At first sniff: It’s zippy, with smells of oranges, cloves and spice. Definitely nailed the “Christmas” time smell. It seems like it could be a very potent cup of tea if over-steeped.

At first sip: Warning – I am still sick and my tastebuds are still a bit off. I think I brewed this too strong. I did it for 6 months and I should have done it for 5 at the most. It’s very astringent, but the smells translate nicely into the cup. I had mine with milk and sugar and was not disappointed.

I will have to re-rate when my sniffer and taste returns fully.

I know it was a typo, but I thought it was funny that you brewed this tea for six months! haha :)

Tuscanteal

Hahaha, yeah I saw that a couple days after I posted it and I have issues with editing my tea reviews (for some reason Steepster lets me edit them, but not save them.) and so I sometimes don’t bother with editing. I bet this tea would still taste pretty good after 6 months… if it didn’t go bad ;)

Day infinity of this cold. Can I just say I am thoroughly tired of tisanes, herbal teas, green tea blends etc… I want me a cup of black tea with cream and sugar. Especially because I have some new flavours from Christmas and Boxing Day…

Alas… my cold has not left yet and I am stuck with herbals. I’ve definitely depleted my stock and Refresh was no exception. This is a nice peppermint and it’s soothed my sore tummy the last couple of days. A good option if buying loose isn’t your thing, of if it’s not available.

I prefer loose still though. Tasted somehow more fresh… har har.

Another cold soother.

I like this blend, but don’t love it. It doesn’t taste overly gingery to me, or overly minty. All I tasted is a subtly flavoured chamomile, which isn’t my favourite. But it’s going the trick for me.

My passion for tea started at a very young age, thanks to my grandmothers beautiful china tea cup collection. I use to brew Tetley’s or whatever version of Orange Pekoe she had in the cupboard and pick out my favourite tea cup to use. It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I really started to develop a passion for it. My town had the Urban Tea Merchant and it was there I was exposed to high tea and the very fancy Mariage Freres brand. When they switched over to The O Dor, my girlfriend and I found salvation in going for a lovely cup of tea and decompress with some tea scones.

It has since become an obsession. I have a tea cupboard, filled with a very large variety of teas. I also use the Breville Tea Maker to make my tea. I favour black teas, with a close second being North African Mint Green Tea. Because I have the luxury of working from home, I get to enjoy a wonderful cup of tea every morning, and the journey resets daily.
