From The Tea Haus

This traditional blend from Northern Africa features Gunpowder green tea, blended with mint leaves. This combination has become very popular since the mint and the tea are refreshing and thirst quenching. It is common to serve this tea with honey or sugar. You can substitute the sugar with other types of sweetener, such as Stevia or Agave nectar. Can be served hot or cold.

Mmmmm just what I was after! For some reason, I’ve been all about the mint this week, and I am loving it!
Lately, because I’m trying to drink down my stash and I can’t waste too much time at work, I’ve been making two types of tea right when I get in. Sometimes even three, and then I ice one for the afternoon.
This one, I decided to ice… but when I tried the first steep, it was a little too much so I stuck the second one in the fridge instead and ohmygoodness was it ever perfect!!!
Something about the mint and green tea was so refreshing, and not bitter at all. I think that was partly because one serving is half the normal leaf used and the mint spruces it up so well.
For the iced version, I did add a tiny bit of agave. It really made a difference.
Then for the fourth and final steep I iced it again. That one was decent but nothing spectacular. It kept me going during my workout, and sane. There was a promo even at the gym, with a live lounge singer/“BB King” band and hired actors dressed up like famous celebrities. There was a puppet show (Bert n Ernie), Austin Powers, Cary Grant, Dr Evil/mini-me. Some free food.
Ugh, it was impossible concentrating! So yeah… I was counting on that tea to keep me focused! Concentrating on squats and dead-lifts with a live cover of the theme song from Titanic running in the background does not bode well for my poor overwhelmed brain.
Anyhow! I’m off to bed. Circuit training tomorrow, so the place had better be quiet…
BTW, my notices are MIA. It brings me to that error page. So my apologies for anything I miss!

LOL Any chance your gym is Goodlife? My gym totally had a party atmosphere today, and the pump class I went to (yes, with squats/dead-lifts, etc.) was a high-energy release class with three instructors…

Indigobloom

YUP!!! It’s Goodlife allright! my instructor was so mad, it was entertaining watching him fume lol
Oh and they had girls in gala dresses at the door handing out free passes.
Did you go yesterday? I hear that all the locations were doing it. (not sure if that applies to just TO or not though)

Kittenna

Yes, I had gone to the gym on that same day. It was some sort of birthday party? I had some yummy free food on my way out, but didn’t participate in anything else. My gym’s pretty small, and women-only.

Indigobloom

it was a party all right, but I can’t say for who! Lol
we had free food as well

Kittenna

33rd anniversary party. Apparently I still have the free pass they gave me to hand out. Oops.

Indigobloom

wow, if that’s what they do for 33, I wonder what’s in store for 35, or 40!

Brewed this one up tonight to split with De, since she’s here a-visiting this weekend. It was exactly what I needed after eating too much beef at Five Guys. The mint and green worked together to soothe and relax. Mmmm. This is still my favourite of the mint teas, no matter how many I try.

So I don’t usually go in for Moroccan Mint teas because I’m not a fan of peppermint or green tea, sooooooo yeah. But this was in the sipdown pile so I coldbrewed it for today (and stuck the rest of the package in the fridge for tomorrow, yay sipdown!)

I’m having some tummy trouble this afternoon, so it’s right on time. Spearmint is my mint of c hoice, but peppermint will do. It’s just got such a bite to it, you know?

I get the feeling this would be better with sugar instead of agave, but I’m out, so agave it is. For me, agave makes things taste like candy, whereas sugar just sweetens the flavors already there. I have some sugar cubes, maybe I’ll put those in the coldbrew for tomorrow, see if there’s a difference. Because when my stomach is upset, I want sweet mint, not mint candy, if that makes sense.

ANYWAY. Yes, this is peppermint green. I’m not a huge fan, honestly. The green is overwhelming the mint, if that’s even possible, leaving behind only the sharp bite of it. I would make my wife drink the other mason jar of it, but she doesn’t like cold teas that taste like teas, only herbals, so this is a big no for her. But I’m going to have to add a lot more sweetener to get through it.

I’m not going to rate this because it wouldn’t be fair. I came in to it not expecting to like it and lo and behold, I don’t XD. But if you’re a fan of mint greens, I can see how this would be tasty.

Went to the Tea Haus a loooooong time ago to get a cup of tea with my dad. I tried this one, since the smell was “blow your sinuses out” mint, with a hint of green tea smell. Well, the taste was more like the other way around. This was my first try of gunpowder green tea (which I have now come to know and love).

At the time of my first few sips I thought it was OK. Then I liked it more and more. I should have bought some while the urge struck, but didn’t. I’ll have to go back to try it again to see if it’s as good as my mind remembers it. If so, I’m buying a bag.
