Double Bergamot Earl Grey

Lots of bergamot flavour, but I don’t notice much in the way of citrus. This tea can be re-steeped again without losing all its bergamot flavour, but the second cup isn’t quite as strong as the first.

Earl Grey is one of my favorite teas because of it’s Bergamot flavor and smell, but this tea does not have enough of the bergamot taste I love in Early Grey.

Double Bergamot Earl Gray Black Tea, not surprisingly, smelled and tasted more like the bergamot oil than black tea. My only complaint with this tea was that the bergamot tasted a bit bitter (an orange peel type of bitter) and I am not a fan of bitter.

Many earl grey teas capture the citrus taste without any bitter taste. I did enjoy this a bit but unfortunately not enough to recommend it.

I thought I loved bergamot, but this is really floral and almost soapy, which is not that good. I tried to mellow it in a 12oz cup, but it’s still really strong. The floral is so intense I can’t really taste the tea or citrus I expect from earl grey in general.

You’d think that this would taste like soap, having double the bergamot oil. But it really doesn’t at all. It’s lovely and mild. I get notes of vanilla, sweet cream, citrus, cane sugar, and flowers. The black tea base is also mild— no astringency or bitterness.
A very good grocery-store bagged EG. On par with Twining’s, I’d say, if not actually a touch better, depending on what you want in an EG.

I wrote in my tea journal last night after tasting this and was not incredibly impressed. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE earl grey and bergamot oil even more so! To the moon and back. I, however, wound up giving it a 2.5/5 (which is not awful, but not great). I found the bergamot overwhelmed the black tea and the only aroma I could sense through the oil was harsh citrus – almost alcoholic. When infused I found the flavour to be weak and underdeveloped. I would honestly drink this again – for the value and the fact that I really love bergamot – but would not present to guests at a tasting.

This tea rocks my world. It takes my favorite thing about Earl Grey, and dials it up. It’s the best tea I’ve ever had. The flavor is perfectly balanced to me, and it doesn’t get bitter, even when I steep for too long.

This is most certainly extra bergamot-y. My only complaint here is that you really don’t taste the black tea at all. I was hoping this would be like a more bergamot-y version of Bigelow’s earl grey…which seemed to have more actual tea taste to it last time I had it. Oh well. This will make an excellent latte :)

I made Earl Grey Lattes or London Fog drinks this afternoon for Lance while I was sipping an Oolong.
I sipped a bit of his and it was So Good I couldn’t believe it so I had to make one for myself when I finished my Oolong.
I actually used this Double Bergamot EG blended with some Manistee Moonrise (an older version) from Whispering Pines as my Tea and frothed up some sweetened Vanilla milk to pour in it.
I enjoy an EG London Fog Latte often because they are yummy but this one was the best I ever had.
Very creamy and smooth, the EG and Manistee blend is hard to describe but I mix EG with Manistee Moonrise often and I love it, they compliment each other nicely IMO.
Anyways this drink is pretty good, I’d recommend anybody to give it a shot.

This really isn’t that great. It’s just not that tasty. If you like the chemically earl greys, go right ahead.

If you’re looking for a rough as nails, plain tea, then this is your bet.

Oddly, it leaves a film on my teeth and I really tired after drinking it.
