I want to like this, but something is weird with the aftertaste mixed with the apricot. Almost medicinal. Also, for a tea called Nutty By Nature, and loaded up with nuts, I sure don’t taste any. I got a small sample bag to get 2-3 servings. I will manage to get through the rest, but not going to refill.

Day 21 of tea!

Another ‘previously tried’ tea, LOL. The last time I had this, I was coming off 2 days worth of travel from the other side of the planet (seriously – Wellington/Auckland/LA/Toronto), and since the fall collection was released while I was on holiday, a mate was delicious and muchly needed at 7 in the morning! Caffiene fix today isn’t as vital, haha, so I think I’m noticing the flavours a little more. I added some milk to it, and it made it a little sweeter – this doesn’t really have the earthy taste of most mates, and I like that.

I find all these nutty teas taste alike…and this is one and the same. Not bad, but nothing special…

The last of DT’s Fall Collection I need to review (other than Honeycrisp Apple but I didn’t pick any of that up because I have NO interest in it) and probably the second most appealing one to me just based on the ingredients. The first was Peanut Butter Cup.

I cold brewed this one, but my impression is that it’d be just as good hot. It’s funny though that a tea with more emphasis on the nuts in it would taste so incredibly strongly of apricot! It’s a great flavour though; really juicy and natural with this borderline creaminess to it? I love creamy apricot flavour; Tea Desire’s White Angel plays on that flavour combo and it does it really well too.

In addition to the wonderful, strong apricot notes there is a fair bit of nuttiness though: the almond does come off more like marzipan with the level of sweetness and borderline cherry notes, and in combination with the macadamia flavours there’s a little bit of a nutty, sweet sugar cookie vibe. I could totally get on board with an apricot white chocolate macadamia sugar cookie (take notes Liquid Proust and 52Teas). On a white base in particular or a sweeter black, like an Assam, that could work really well. Also worth noting, the yerba mate is this isn’t very strong at all: the other ingredients really completely cover it up.

I could see this filling a spot in my cupboard where Butiki’s Apricot Guayusa currently is. They’re definitely different, but comparable enough that I’d be ok with stocking this instead of that blend.

Notes taken… there is a possibility that I’ve been practicing my nut roasting… maybe.

“It’s funny though that a tea with more emphasis on the nuts in it would taste so incredibly strongly of apricot! " Absolutely agree. Personally, I am neither here nor there with apricot so this tea was just ok to me.

Crazy how this is maté. Really? I barely taste it. The brittle chunks likely sweeten this up to the point that you can’t really taste the base. The nuttiness is hiding behind the apricot too.

For a maté, I like this, but overall, I wouldn’t buy more since it’s still a little too sweet for me. This could possibly work as an iced tea.

Fall Collection 2015 Tea #4

This one isn’t bad either, but is it just me or are any of the teas this year, just not overly flavourful?
I do like this more than Forever Nuts (don’t freak out everybody, FN is just not for me), I am getting a light, creamy taste that is pretty good.

Maybe a small restock of this, like a skinny tin, but nothing to go mental for.

Got a 5g sample of this with my last order from DAVIDs. At the time I didn’t realize it was a mate, but that’s alright cause this is just a small sample.

I brewed this weakly (the nuts make this blend heavy): the entire 5g sample in 600 ml of water for 5ish min (one cup for me, one for my husband). The taste is lightly apricot-y with a bit of grass undertone. It’s ok, but not a taste I really go for. my husband says this blends reminds him of some of my cosmetics from Lush, haha.

Ultimately, this blend is ok but if I want a mate tea I prefer plain.

I tried this tea many moons ago. I remember liking it and found an unopened bag in my stash over the weekend. I thought I’d try a different mate blend this morning instead of my usual (Queen of Tarts). It’s not bad. It’s nutty and slightly sweet. It also has really nice apricot flavor. The taste of the mate isn’t overwhelming which is a bonus. I’ve heard this tea is returning as a permanent addition to the tea wall some time in the near future. Personally, I prefer mate blends that are more tropical, but this is a nice change.

While I was planning on avoiding this tea as it’s a mate, the smell was amazing so I gave into having a cup. There’s definitely a distinct and enjoyable fruity note but I didn’t really identify it as apricot (I would have said citrus-y, but it smelled like apples). However, the most prominent flavour for me here is the macadamia nut (and it’s unbelievable how much it reminded me of a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie). Nutty, buttery, creamy, and oh so good. This is followed up by a hint of almond, which is also rather nice.

The mate is still pretty prominent here, which is disappointing (though it goes with this tea better than many other mates I’ve had). This won’t be a restock for me for that reason. If this had been another base (maybe white), I wouldn’t hesitate to stock up.

Had this one tonight, but I didn’t realize it had apricot in it. haha silly me for not reading the ingredients. Anyways, I did enjoy this one but because I didn’t realize the apricot was in there, I found this tea to be so weird. Now that I know that, looking back I can say it was very good! I’ll try again as I have more and see what I think from there.
