I brought the last of my gallon of milk to work to try this tea. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough milk for the amount of matcha I used, but I made up the difference with some canned whipped cream. The vanilla flavor is really tasty and desserty. It blends perfectly with the matcha base. I had this again at home with the right amount of milk. To be honest, this second time I only tasted matcha with basically no vanilla or any other flavor. It was still tasty, but more savory, and I was bummed to miss the great flavor from the first cup.

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #55 overall / Tea #22 for February

Monday 2/15 — Found another open DT 2 oz bag, but instead of the last one that 8 or more ounces, this one only had maybe 1 oz? Since I had a very ripe/mushy banana, tons of that chocolate oat milk (good thing that stuff is shelf stable until opened), I dumped those in the blender with the contents of this bag. Had it with my dinner of veggie soup (started out a potato leeks creamy soup, ended up a general veggie creamy soup LOL) + big chunk of homemade bread from my boyfriend’s family toasted in toaster oven + big hunk of butter to melt on it.

I pretty much always start each morning with a matcha smoothie. :-)

Pulled out this matcha for my morning smoothie tomorrow. As per usual, I sampled it before adding the other ingredients first, 1 tsp to 1 cup plain oat milk, cold, blended until frothy.

This has a nice sweet flavor, and for a moment, I just thought I had accidentally grabbed my vanilla oat milk, until I saw the plain oat milk carton sitting on the counter. It wasn’t a strong hit of vanilla, but more of a sweet creaminess that I like since it will blend so well into a wide variety of smoothies, which has been my main use of matcha as of late. Unlike the maple matcha (which I just finished up having some lovely almond/oat/maple smoothies for the last few days!), I did get more of the actual matcha flavor from this one, later in the sip, as a mild grassiness.

Perhaps not the most exciting, but useful to me for its versatility. I believe I ordered a full 2 oz. package of this one at some point in the past, so I have plenty more smoothies I can make with this after my sampler packet runs out. (I have a Peaches n’ Cream smoothie to look forward to tomorrow morning!)

David’s Tea Matcha Advent Day 9

Frothing seems to get better day by day but I’m really at a loss for new tricks to try, so maybe I’m just doomed to a frothless matcha.

I struggled to identify the flavors in this one; after adding milk the only flavor that comes to mind is creamy and I wonder if that’s the tea or the milk. It’s tasty though.

DavidsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar 2020 – Day 9

This is the week for dessert matchas! I was so pleased to open this one up! I miss Red Leaf Tea’s vanilla matcha so much, it was one of my gateway matchas. This brought back some nostalgia!

Unfortunately I could not get a froth while whisking to save my life lol, found out that it is the coconut sugar making it more difficult. Luckily it did not affect the delicious matcha flavor! Smooth, sweet, not overpowering and not artificial. Yumminess in a cup!

Prepared the usual way, 175 degree water, whisk, top up with hot water. Delish!

DAVIDsTEA Matcha Advent Calendar – Day 9

Ooh, another desserty one! I actually have a sample packet of this already that I haven’t opened – I think it was from a Sips by box? I hadn’t been drinking matcha much before this advent, so I just never got to it. Prepared this one with 8 ounces of warm water and 4 ounces of milk.

I feel like the matcha comes through a bit more in this flavor than in some of the others, and the flavoring seems slightly lighter. It’s a good thing, in my book. I don’t think I can really tell the difference between the coconut sugar in this one versus the usual cane sugar, especially with the milk added. There’s a light and sweet vanilla flavor here, I would assume it’s probably creamy as well but since I added milk, I can’t know that for sure. The sweetness level is about normal for these DAVIDsTEA flavored matchas, so far only the peach one has seemed really sweet.

Although I bet if I did add milk, I would find this one way too sweet as well… I’ll have to suck it up and try an all-water preparation again with the next flavor.

So for the Bonne Maman advent calendar, today’s jam is Rhubarb-Strawberry Spread. I quite like that rhubarb is first for once, and the rhubarb is quite strong in the jam as well. It starts off tasting like a slightly tart strawberry, and then the rhubarb comes forward more and more until the end is all rhubarb. A bit of strawberry comes back in the aftertaste. I love rhubarb and wish it were used more, so I find this one to be absolutely scrumptious! :3

That jam sounds great! Rhubarb is so difficult to find in stores here for some reason!

I love rhubarb everything! :3

Rhubarb is the best! You can only get it here fresh during the summer, but we always make sure to make the best of it!

Found this hiding at the bottom of my green tea bin. Not sure how long it’s been there. I added creamer to this and shook it up in my David’s matcha maker thermos. It went down easy, but it was hard to tell what was vanilla flavor and what was creamer. Either way, it wasn’t enough to kick me into gear this morning or do anything for the mounting apathy I’ve been plagued with as of late. I fear the situation calls for more tea.

Not much powder is needed per cup to get a full taste. I really enjoyed this tea and although it is quite grassy, it tastes healthy. It was just sweet enough for me.
