82 Tasting Notes
Had some of this last night with some Youthberry, and Orange whateveritsnameis Blossom. I added some honey to it that my friend gave me! So sweet. I actually went to the ren fest last Sunday and had bought some honey to use, but accidentally left it at an incense booth when it closed. I went back to retrieve it but I couldn’t run to the booth without a security escort. It ended up that I led him the wrong way and felt bad so I just left it there. Sad day, no honey for me…
THEN my sister’s friend who is living with us got home from school. She’s attending beauty college and one of her clients that day was a beekeeper. Instead of tipping her with money, he left her a jar of honey. IT WAS DESTINY!! She texted me and let me know I could have it. I said she is more than welcome to my tea cabinet whenever she wants. GOOD TRADE OFF!
ANYWAY, the actual cup of tea was just okay. Moriah’s (the friend) was delicious, but I made my cup second and therefore did not get as much flavor. I still drank it happily though.
~1tsp / 8oz cup + a little bit of sugar
Good gravy is this good! I used the same tea leaves I used last night for my sister’s cup, and it STILL came out delicious. The tea had a creamy consistency and had a real buttery, sweet taste. I was going to make some Oolong tea next but I might just make another cup of this.
Preparation
“good gravy” totally threw me off at first i was like TEA THATS LIKE GRAVY EWWWWWWWWWWW— oh. IM EXCITED TO TRY THIS THO
Thank you Starberry for sending me this sample!
Mmmm… This is good. I wanted something smooth and simple at work and this tea did not disappoint! This is also my first time having oolong on its own (though now that I taste it, I’m pretty sure I’ve had it at restaurants before) and I’m glad I did because I really like it a lot! It’s one of those teas that you can just have no matter what kind of mood you’re in. Unlike chais, breakfast teas, and herbals, I have to be craving their flavors. This is the taste I used to think of when I thought of tea as a child. It kind of makes me wonder what higher quality oolongs taste like on their own.. BECAUSE THIS IS PRETTY GREAT TO ME! It’ll be interesting to compare. I’ve got some Monkey-picked oolong at home that I can try and see the difference!
The only thing I have against this tea is that it leaves my mouth feeling dry after taking a sip.
I’ll definitely be picking some of this up for work!
Preparation
OH YAY IM glad you liked this i totally didnt think you would being such a fruity tea fan and all hahaha~ i have the monkey-picked as well and do actually prefer this one greatly, so you’ll have to let me know what you think
Oh goodness. I’ve done it. I’VE DONE IT. FINALLY. I think I found the magic combo, which is NOT steeping it to high heaven.
I only got a couple sips, I was actually making it for my sister. It made me really nervous because she was excited to try this, and she doesn’t really like tea that much. If this didn’t turn out she would probably hate it. LUCKILY, the couple test sips I took were delightful (and hot). She added more sugar than I had put in originally but whatever.
My rating will probably go up when I finally get a cup of my own to try. I’m just so happy that this tea didn’t turn into the flop I was thinking it was.
Preparation
Put not one but TWO bags in my travel mug and let them steep forever. Can you tell I’m determined to like this tea? This time the Pomegranate was more apparent, but still not super flavorful like I envisioned.
I still think this would go good with agave, or honey. I just don’t have any at work to try it with.
Preparation
When this came in the mail I was SO EXCITED. This is the first tea I got purely from all the great reviews people on steepster were giving. A cinnamon roll tea that tastes exactly like its name? TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! After having two cups of this so far, (one with a 1/2tsp of sugar, the other with the same amount of sugar + milk) I still have to say that it is too good to be true. Maybe I had my expectations set too high?
First impression is it smells strongly of cinnamon, like others say. After brewing it, I still had the strong cinnamon smell but it wasn’t quite as prominent when taking a sip. It did not taste like cinnamon roll though. A shame, because I WANTED IT TO. I’m not giving up either, I’m convinced this must be user error if everyone else is having such success and I am not. That or everyone else is having VERY different cinnamon rolls than me.
Despite it not tasting like it’s name in my opinion, I still enjoyed this tea. It made for a very nice cup of late night tea before bed. I expect (and hope) my rating will change as I experiment more with how to brew it.
Preparation
Why yes, I did brew this twice in one day. This time I put one bag in my 16oz travel mug and just left it in there forever (it’s still in there now, 30 minutes later). Don’t know if this really made a difference in the taste though. I guess this just isn’t a very flavorful tea. The pomegranate still isn’t super prominent like I thought it would be, unfortunately. I still like it though! I’ll finish this box gladly!
Wonder what would happen if I added some agave to it…
Preparation
Not super flavorful. Maybe next time I should steep it longer. It has a hint of pomegranate in it. I like it overall though! Starberry sent me some of this to try, but I caved and got some before it came in the mail.
In any case, it looks like I have a tea to drink at work that I don’t detest (finally).
Preparation
~1 tsp Youthberry, ~1/2 tsp Superfruit Unity
12oz
My friend requested the Youthberry while waiting for my sister to get ready (we were going to the renaissance festival). I decided to put a little superfruit in as well, because I love this combo. I added some agave nectar which made the fruit flavors really sweet as well. Great cup of tea to start out the day with!
Preparation
LOVE THIS TEA! I drink it on it’s own, as well as mixed all the time. I’ve had it plain, with sugar, honey, agave nectar, hot, iced. No matter how I brew it I still love it. Just a really great, versatile tea in my opinion.
