This is also another one I need to try again for the same reasons as the Dragon’s Well. Because it’s a black tea I think it was more forgiving with the boiling water, but just leaving the leaves in did not do it justice. It was STRONG. Dang, I’ve never had black tea just straight up, let alone just left to steep forever. She also didn’t have anything to really dress it up with, like sugar. So yup. No rating until it try again.

I’ll have to try this again for sure because I tried this for my first time at my friends house. She used boiling water and just left the leaves in, which made it really bitter. The second time we made a pot I took the leaves out after a couple minutes but boiling water was still used, and I think she poured in twice the amount of leaves needed. Maybe… I need to try it again!

I think I’m hitting the bottom of the barrel with this. I had a cup the other night and didn’t get any of the fruitiness I’m accustomed to. Without the fruit, it actually tastes kind of weird. It’s sweet white tea, and I’m not sure what’s causing the weird sweetness. The rosehips? I don’t know, IT WAS WEIRD. Need to restock!

drank Sagittarius by Adagio Teas

So, it’s been a couple days since I’ve updated. I was laid off my job on Friday so that’ll probably put a damper on the whole “trying new teas thing.” Sad day. :’(

IN BRIGHTER NEWS THOUGH, I WON A TEA GIVE AWAY ON TUMBLR!! YES! I got 4 of the Adagio’s Zodiac teas. I thought I would start out with this one because I am a Sagittarius, hurhur. MAN, I’m glad I picked this. It was SOOO good!

I resteeped this 3 different times and every time it was fantastic! The third time it started losing flavour, but that’s to be expected. I was excited to have the raspberry as the fruit in this tea since the other Adaigo tea I’ve had with raspberry was also really good. I was worried, though, that it might be too fruity. Fruity teas are among my favorite, but based on the ingredients I really didn’t want it overpower everything else. Thankfully that was not the case.

The raspberry was very subdued and made a great compliment to the vanilla and creme. The vanilla and creme was more in the forefront, but unlike the strawberry creme tea I’ve reviewed in the past this was not creamy in a gross way. The earl grey was definitely in there too, but I really had to try and pick everything out. This tea really just blends everything together in a wonderful way. Sweet, and delicious. Adding a bit of sugar made it even better.

FANTASTICO.

Sorry to hear about the job situation! Hope you’re in a good place, though, and can take a few days to rest and relax before you start looking for something else. =)

Being laid off sucks. Sorry.
Glad you liked this blend, I enjoyed it too.

drank Strawberry Cream by Zen Tea

I gave this tea another shot yesterday while making dinner. Instead of steeping for the recommended 2-3 minutes, I tried 6 in hopes that it would bring out the strawberry more. This time around I also decided not add milk, or sugar until I tried it plain.

The black tea was really strong when I took my first sip, with slight strawberry undertones. It was okay, but definitely needed sugar. After I put about a 1tsp of sugar in it tasted a lot better. Definitely not as creamy as the last time I had it.

I would have still liked the strawberry to be more pronounced in this. I saw that they have a fruit version of this tea as well. Maybe that version is more along the lines of what I was thinking this would be. It’s just not doing it for me. Next time I give this a go I will probably try it iced.

Thanks Starberry for the sample!

MMMMMMM! This is what I was hoping to get when I tried the Trader Joe’s Pomegranate tea. Something light, with a bit of fruit flavor to it. I brought this to work with me wanting something different than what I currently have. It’s PERFECT for what I’m looking for in a work tea!

I didn’t get much smell out it after steeping. The initial sip gives you a hint of the raspberry and cranberry, with the hibiscus coming through more in the after taste. I’m not getting any bitterness like some people are describing, or tartness either for that matter. I did use one bag for my 16oz travel mug however, which is probably making this a lot lighter.

I need to pick some of this up!!

drank Earl Grey by Bigelow

This is my first time having Earl Grey tea! I generally avoid my works selection of tea because, last I checked, it was mainly minty teas (ick). One of my co-workers mentioned that this was in there though so I was decided, “HEY! LETS GIVE IT A SHOT!”

After reading some reviews, I really wanted to try Verdant teas “Earl of Anxi”, but my friend discouraged me since I had never had earl grey before. I’m glad that my work had this, so I can make my decision!

It’s pretty alright! I like it. It’s a lot more robust than the teas I’m used to having. It’s also a black tea, which I usually sweeten, or latte. I could definitely had a bit of sugar to this, but I’m also enjoying it plain. Now I know what bergamot is as well! I can see why my friend’s dad loves it, he pretty much exclusively drinks earl grey, though he prefers it iced.

Overall, this was a pleasant first experience. I wouldn’t mind having it again. This particular tea isn’t something I would stock my cupboard with, but it’s good enough for me to get a sample from Verdant I think!

I recently had Earl Grey for the first time, as well, and loved it. Now I’m looking forward to trying different ones from different companies.

Yay! Trying new teas. Yeah, this definitely made me want to go out and try some different earl grey’s from other companies.

Not much too say. I love tea! Especially greens and oolong. I also really enjoy the occasional fruity tea, but really I’m up to try anything.! …Well except earl grey, I really don’t like bergamot.

When I first joined I usually always forgot to finish my last sip of tea leaving it cold and alone, destined for the drain. Nowadays I still leave the last couple sips of tea. I really drink my cups slowly, HOWEVER, I almost always finish my cups now, even if they are room temperature.
