353 Tasting Notes
The jasmine is a bit too strong, in my opinion. It isn’t as bad as some of the super perfumed jasmine greens I’ve tasted (Bentley’s, I’m looking at you), but it’s much more noticeable than I normally like. That said, it’s not to the point where I’d stop drinking it.
Preparation
Ok. I upped my rating after trying this tea again. I steeped it for 3 minutes, as opposed to the 4-5 minutes recommended for white tea (I read this somewhere; do not remember where). This is still a pretty dry tea but I’m not feeling like I ran through the desert, which is a good thing. It is by no means refreshing because of the dry feeling, but I’m enjoying the flavor.
I can actually taste the fruity – almost raspberry – notes to the tea.
Preparation
Pleasantly surprised by this tea. The tea selection at the place I just went for lunch was limited to Bigelow and a few flavors of Tazo. I selected this as the least adulterated flavor of Tazo. It is very light, but turned bitter when I left the tea bag in too long (No problem! Just add more water!). A very pleasant flavor and the lotus flower wasn’t overpowering.
I wish it was caffeinated though.
Preparation
I hated this as a hot tea, but thought I’d try it iced. I cold steeped this for four days – one teaspoon in my 40 oz teapot, with 2 teaspoons of rock sugar.
While it’s not my favorite, it’s refreshing on a hot day. The cold brings the flavors to the forefront and enhances them. I still can’t really taste the tea. I wouldn’t call this a tea that I firmly “like” but it’s okay if I don’t concentrate on the taste too much.
ETA: Never mind. After half a mug I can’t stand the taste any more.
Preparation
I’ve never had rooibos before, so I bought a sampler pack from Persimmon Tree to try it out. I’ve decided I am not a fan. This tastes… odd. The tea is more astringent than I’m used to, and plays at the border of being spicy. I miss all the lovely tea notes.
Preparation
I got this as a sample from Persimmon Tree.
This is the DRIEST tea I’ve ever had. My entire mouth feels parched, and I don’t like it. It’s so dry that my throat even hurts a little bit.
Flavor-wise, it doesn’t taste sweet to me at all. It tastes almost nutty, but in a very flat way, and almost salty/smoky. And I can detect a weird metallic taste if I let it sit on my tongue.
Not a fan.
Preparation
This may supercede milk oolong as my favorite tea. This tea is absolutely scrumptious. I oversteeped this deliberately to make it more flavorful, and the second steeping was just as strong. I didn’t try for a third steeping because it was long past bedtime at that point.
The flavor of this is fantastic. Smooth, and almost silky. The jasmine is subtle and complements the white tea. It’s a very nice tea. I love it.
