65 Tasting Notes
Found myself at a Teavana this weekend. I told the guy behind the counter I was desperate for a fruity tea that didn’t have apple or hibiscus and this was one of the things he recommended. (I also got some gyokuro genmaicha that I can’t wait to dive into after lunch!)
It smells and tastes like straight up strawberry Big League Chew, the preferred bubblegum of my childhood crew. I don’t think I’d drink this every day, but, damn, it hits the fruity-but-not-apple spot right now.
Flavors: Strawberry
Preparation
Couldn’t decide on my first tea of the morning and found a sample of this in my tea drawer.
I like the taste! But so much of it escaped through my tea strainer. Way more than anything else ever has. In fact, I think I’ve only had one other tea do this and it was because I wasn’t thinking and emptied an Irish Breakfast tea bag in with some other stuff to make a blend. Big mistake. Huge.
Anyway, yeah. I like the flavor. I wasn’t sure if I would because I’m seriously sick of apple teas, but I’d consider ordering a small bag of this. Or maybe another sample.
(Which reminds me that David’s left out a sample in my last order and I’m kind of bummed about it.)
Flavors: Citrus, Cream, Orange, Vanilla
Last tea of the day. I bought this solely because it was a new one and didn’t sound like any of the others I bought.
My initial reaction when opening the packet was, “Ugh. Another apple-based fruity tea.” I brewed it anyway.
I preemptively added two Splenda, because if I’m drinking a fruity tea, I want it to be super sweet.
It’s not bad. Not the worst fruity tea in my drawer. The apple isn’t as strong as I thought it would be. I would like someone to make a fruity herbal tea one day that doesn’t involve apple (or hibiscus, tbh) though.
Flavors: Apple, Apricot, Fruity
I added this in as a sample with my last order because it’s cold season, and wouldn’t you know it? I came down with a cold two days ago and I’m really freaking miserable today. I forgot about it until I was digging around in my tea drawer at work (had to move to the bigger filing cabinet. I think I have a problem.) and saw it.
I’m gonna need a bigger boat. And by boat, I mean bag of this tea.
Flavors: Mint
I’ve been on a genmaicha kick recently. This is lovely. I just wish I ordered more of it. Two “perfect spoons” or whatever David’s calls the (free!) rose-gold spoon that came with my order seemed to take a big chunk out of the bag!
Preparation
SO MUCH BERGAMOT.
I don’t know what I expected.
Flavors: Bergamot, Vanilla
Preparation
I just got a new David’s order in and couldn’t decide whether to try this or the Vanilla Bergamot first. The Steepster reviews talked me into this one. Here we go!
The tea itself smells really nice! Even better after they’ve been steeped a bit.
First sip, as usual, without sweetener: Huh. I like it. It’s a nice oolong with a very subtle vanilla flavor. Other reviews tell me it’ll get more vanilla-y as it cools. I’m interested.
I don’t think I’m putting sweetener in this. Oolongs and I have been getting along well sans sweetener lately, and I’m happy about it. One day I’ll get back to drinking all of my teas black. One day. Not today.
Preparation
I ordered this with my last Davids purchase and it got lost in my tea drawer!
I love Earl Grey, but “cream” flavors usually gross me out. I just poured this and I’m not sure if I like the smell.
First impressions: Oh, not bad. If I didn’t know this was supposed to be Earl Grey, I’d never guess it, though. And it’s a little astringent, but there’s a good chance I oversteeped it.
Probably wouldn’t buy this again, but it’s not bad. I’m interested to see what it tastes like with a splash of (actual) cream.
Flavors: Astringent, Cream, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
Oh wow. I assumed I would hate this, but I don’t! I usually don’t like anything cinnamon, but I picked this as a sample for my last David’s order because of the reviews on here. This is so pleasant! Definitely adding it to my next order.
Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon, Nutty
