The fist time I brewed this one up (yesterday) I didn’t realize it was an oolong. I thought it was a black tea. Had I looked at the leaves more closely I would have realized that right away. I wondered why it brewed up so pale. I didn’t realize until I cleaned out the infuser and saw the leaves…oops.

I recall picking up the nutty notes and a bit of tang that was the citrus coming through.

So today I was when I did the sipdown, I was more prepared about it being an oolong. To me this is till more nutty than citrus. Yesterday it was a vague nutty flavour, but today I found the almond flavour. The citrus peeped through occasionally.

A pleasant cup for a dreary afternoon. Thanks for the sample Cameron B!

I’ve hoarded my last little bit of this, because I was afraid I’d never be able to try it again after finishing it off. But I see on the Verdant site that they’ve blended it again, so another sip down.

Now I just need to figure out if I’m gonna order an obscene amount or just a moderately obscene amount. I still haven’t decided.

Many thanks to Cameron B for providing the sample!

I got this tea in my first swap with Dexter. I have so many tea’s from Dexter that I need to get to…This, however, is a quick and easy sipdown.

The flavour has faded somewhat, but I’m still getting some of the cappuccino notes. The caramel crunch flavour is not apparent, but that’s probably because I’ve had the sample for quite a while. I remember getting all of the flavours the first time I tried it.

Anyway, I enjoyed it while I had it, but moving on. Thanks for the sample Dex!

This tea came my way a long time ago from JustJames. I’ve been avoiding it, because I generally do not enjoy floral teas. But I finally thought it was time to sip it down, so that’s what this morning’s cup is about – the sipdown.

When I opened the packet (a couple of days ago), I remember how sweet it smelled, almost like candy. I was a little worried. After brewing though, the candy-like sweetness toned down. I had a few cups prior to this sipdown, but wasn’t able to note it.

Today’s cup was lightly floral, followed up by sweet hay. For a non-floral tea drinker, I find this one is actually pretty good. But, I can only handle 2 steeps, and then I’m done.

For me, this is only ok, but that’s because I have different tea preferences. Although I can see the appeal for those who do enjoy jasmine tea.

Thanks for the sample JustJames!

I was little worried about this one, because the brewing aroma was quite floral. I’m not really a fan of floral type tea’s. Sure, my initial sip was quite floral, but I didn’t give up on it. As the cup cooled I found those creamy buttery notes that I enjoy so much in milk oolongs. The floral notes took a back seat as the cup cooled.

Steep two was even less floral, but the butter notes were still very present. The peach notes came through as well once the cup cooled down.

I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed this cup, despite the initial heavy floral aromas. Thanks to Cameron B for the sample!

I agree, boo hiss florals! :P

:) Yeah, I have another floral tea that was gifted to me that I’ve been avoiding, but should really get to it.

The last time I reviewed this tea, I was on the fence about it. sometimes I love it, and other times it’s just meh. tonight I love it. my house guest said it smells like popcorn, I see why he would think that.

Brews up nice and dark, with a weighty mouth feel. I haven’t tried rice pu’er from any other company, so I don’t how it compares. But, when the mood strikes for a starchy type tea, this one hits the spot.

No, but i’m happy to see they sell it, since am contemplating order. Thanks for the link :)

I had this last night. When I opened the package, the first thing that came to mind was that this smelled like mint gum.

The upfront taste is apple, followed up by mint, which I found kinda weird. The flavours didn’t mesh well for me. I guess I’m in the minority on this one. I just don’t like it.

I don’t have anything new to say about this tea that hasn’t already been said. I’m enjoying a cup of it now on this sunny but chilly day. It makes me feel warm, toasty and happy.

That one can feel happy on a Sunday afternoon is something I can’t comprehend. :) good for you!

I’m exhausted today. I wish I could sit around and do nothing, but unfortunately stuff needs to get done. Hoping this tea will inject some caffeine energy to get me going.

The leaves are incredibly long and gold and dark brown in colour. Makes measuring these leaves difficult, then I accidentally poured too many leaves in the infuser. Ah well, at least it wasn’t on the floor.

The aroma is honey and fruit. My first couple of sips were really fruity, and now I think I understand what stewed fruit tastes like, even though I can’t remember the last I tasted stewed fruit. The tea is naturally sweet from the honey and molasses notes.

I think I prefer steep better. The fruit notes have toned down, and the richer molasses notes are more evident. Yep, steep 2 is a winner for me.

Thanks for sharing Cameron B!

Having a cup of this while trying to unwind my from a stressful day at work. Most of my stress, however, I will admit, I cause myself.

The brewed aroma of this tea reminded of me of buttery beans and peas. The taste is just like the aroma – sweet and creamy beans. I do pick up some the nuttiness that Cameron B referred to, but for me it’s not so prominent.

Slight bitterness in the second brew, but I lost rack of time…I really should get a timer of some sort, or watch the clock better. Despite the slight bitterness, it’s still very tasty and it makes happy drinking it.

Thanks for the sample Cameron B!

My tea journey started in 2012, when a friend gifted me some loose leaf. I guess she thought I was drinking too much coffee. Blown away by the amazing flavours I immediately embraced the loose leaf tea. I still drink coffee, but my main choice of beverage is now tea.

My tea preferences are blacks, pu’erhs, oolongs and greens.
