49 Tasting Notes
So good, plain or in a latte! Smooth, comforting taste. I don’t really like sencha so I wasn’t sure if I liked this but I’m glad I bought it. I can see myself having this all the time, especially with milk froth and cane sugar <3 seriously, matcha lattes are the best.
Hmm. The smell wasn’t as strong for me as some other people described. It smells sweet and complex, and is a nice light tea. I wish it were a bit more nutty… anyhow, the health benefits are so great and it is pretty yummy, so it will have a place in my cupboard. Second steep is way weaker and I think a third would be hot water. Also, the vegetal after taste is not off-putting at all.
Preparation
This tea is great. I love the hot-throat sensation… You can re-steep this 4+ times with success. It is an every day tea for me. Does anyone else feel that when they try a tea they like, they need to automatically get a tin of it, even if they can’t afford it and have around 10 cups left…. yup. Will power must be activated until I’ve totally run out. THEN A TIN WILL BE OBTAINED IMMEDIATELY.
… I’m not crazy.
OKAY SO. At first I liked this, but then I tried it again a few times and it kind of made me sick. Didn’t taste that good… then an hour later my stomach was killing me… probably unrelated to the tea, I did have some greasy pizza that day. Sigh, I bought a tin of this, so it will be around, maybe I will come back to it and re-discover my appreciation.
What I expected: the sweet nutty taste that was described. What I got – a light, toasted rice-y flavour, not sweet, not bitter. I wasn’t sure about it at first, then I brewed it with cooler water (still warmer than room temp) a second time and it was great. The taste between the first and second infusion is definitely different imo, the second one being much lighter and less of a toasted rice-y after taste. I think it is something that will grow on me.
