drank Earl Grey Creme by Teavana
19 tasting notes

This tea had to grow on me. At first, I didn’t like it so much. I found myself just wanting a plain Earl Grey. But the more I drank it, the more I liked it. I especially like mixing it in with other black and oolong teas I have.

It’s good. I may not buy it again soon, but it’s definitely a possibility in the future.

Black teas are my jam. This, though, was my first purchase from Teavana. Not only that, but it was my first time ever seeing a tea store. Living down south in a town far away from civilization, I always had to order teas online. After moving to college, I threw some praises up to the Lord above for having tea places so close to me.
But, like I said, it was my first time in a tea store. I was just too excited. This was the first tea they showed me, and I didn’t even think about it. I just bought it. I regret that now, because I could have gotten something much better. This is tasty, but not so much by itself. I have found myself mixing it with other black teas I have just so I can get rid of what I have left.

It’s alright, but I probably won’t buy it again. Not from Teavana at least.

Your first paragraph made me chuckle. I have to beat down a perpetual state of covetousness when some of our fellow Steepies mention their local tea buying options. And wipe the drool off my keyboard.

lanestew

Ha yeah, I’m so glad there are places I can buy now.

Starfevre

Yeah, I’ve found that Teavana’s blends are a bit better than their straight teas. Or are at least more unique. There are better versions of their straight teas at other companies for probably cheaper anyway.

The Golden Monkey from Teavivre is awesome, as is the one from Harney and Sons. Teavana’s….eh, not so much. If you haven’t already signed up for their free tea tasting activity, you can go to Teavivre’s site and choose five tea samples to have sent to you. They are awesome, they are fresh, they are affordable.

I love black tea. It’s what really propelled me into my love for tea. That being said, I’ve strayed from my roots a bit. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had some black tea, and it’s definitely been awhile since I’ve had some Earl Grey. But this is really delicious tea! I tend to stray away from tea sachets, but my roommate had offered me one, and I’m not going to turn down free tea. Good choice, really.

I would recommend this to a fan of Earl Grey. It’s good stuff.

Republic of Tea is what got me started drinking tea in the first place!

lanestew

Sweet! What’s your favorite from there?

Rachel Sincere

Blackberry Sage, hands down! That was the first one I tried and it was the only one I drank until I seriously got into tea.

lanestew

I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!

gmathis

Ditto on the Blackberry Sage. Nice!

drank Moroccan Mint by Teavana

This is one of my favorite teas. It’s great to drink by itself, but I also drink it with other tea. I’ve mixed it with almost every other blend I have just to add a bit of mint flavor.

I’ll definitely have to be buying more very soon.

Like I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of green tea. The first time I tried this, I think I brewed it way too hot and steeped it for a bit too long. It was bitter after the first cup.
When re-steeping, I used a lower temperature water, less water, and steeped for shorter. I still had to douse it in sugar and honey to make it taste good.

Not the best I’ve had by any means.

drank Green Chai by Adagio Teas

I have always enjoyed stronger teas more, and had a bad experience with chai tea at one point in my life. That being said, I have strayed away from both green and chai tea. This tea was delicious though. A little weak, but I shared it with at least five or six other people and they all liked it. The aroma alone is enough to make you happy.

Smells like Christmas.

drank Vanilla Oolong by Adagio Teas
19 tasting notes

After steeping the leaves a second time, I found that I enjoyed the tea more. I also used a hotter water temperature and longer steep time. That being said, it was a bit weaker, but the vanilla blended in with the oolong better.

I might enjoy this blend after all.

drank Vanilla Oolong by Adagio Teas

This tea was decent. I’m a huge fan of vanilla, so I was really excited about this oolong. It was much more flavorful after it cooled down a bit, but it’s not really anything special. There are definitely better teas out there.

Nevertheless, I’ll still finish off my stash. I doubt I’ll be having it again though.

drank Jasmine Bloom by Adagio Teas
19 tasting notes

I’m a fan of blooming teas. Loose leaf tea isn’t too popular in Texas, so when I’m steeping it in public (as I tend to do because I live on a college campus), people are attracted to the visual aspect of it. The bloom wasn’t as attractive as I expected, but it was still pretty.

The smell is great. I’m a fan of floral flavors, so I really love the taste of this tea. It’s weird to describe, but it tastes exactly as the flower smells. So, basically, it tastes lovely.

Bonnie

Don’t feel too bad, some are more for display than drinking and some are better made than others. Adagio is an average or less brand.

lanestew

What would you recommend as a higher quality brand? I just found Adagio last week and love their customer service and the tea isn’t so bad either.

Bonnie

The service is pretty good. There is a discussion thread about peoples favorite tea companies…lists based on great service and quality. I began looking at both the most popular tea’s and highest rating. Then I read reviews. Doing tea swaps was a good way to try tea also. Many companies have sample sizes. Teavivre will send you samples free for reviewing their tea. Go to their website and look for the free tea info.

lanestew

Sounds good. Thank you!
