56 Tasting Notes
I popped by my local DT today and decided to try this tea. It’s finally sunny outside, so I figured this would be refreshing!
This tastes very much like a Pina Colada! It’s quite tasty! The smell and flavour are really close, which is nice. There is cinnamon in this tea, but it doesn’t really come through. I kind of wish it did though…it would be an interesting take on a pina colada and would also add to the “hot” part of Hot Tropic. Maybe as a hot drink you can taste it more. I had this cold so I’m not sure haha. I got this with sweetner in it, but I’m not sure that it is necessary as this is very sweet.
Overall, it’s yummy, but I probably won’t keep a stash of my own. I would definitely drink it again though!
Flavors: Coconut, Pineapple
I picked up enough of this for a sample size at the local store. Probably about 30g.
I really liked the smell of this tea. It was quite fruity but it also smelled comforting (I don’t really know how to put this into scent form! haha). The first time I had it, it was enjoyable! very light and fruity. However, the second time I had it, it got really bitter really quick, and was not enjoyable. So I’m kind of confused about this tea. It was not bad, it just wasn’t great… maybe I left the teabag in too long.
I also tried freezing this tea into popsicle form! It turned out really well, but again they tasted a bit too bitter for my liking. Perhaps I just didn’t put enough care into my steeping processes.
I won’t be buying this again, but I would drink it again if somebody could make it for me. It was not my favorite, but I have had worse.
Flavors: Bitter, Citrusy, Fruity, Hibiscus, Lemon, Sour
I tried this cold at my local DT with some sweetner. I really like it! When I was smelling the new teas the other day, I wasn’t expecting to like this. I’m not a huge berry fan unless I’m eating them. Otherwise, I find that it usually ends up way too sweet. As soon as I smelled this one though, I had to have it! It smells sooooo good. It’s not too berryish. It is well balanced. I think that the lemongrass in here really balances the tea because it tastes similar to a berry lemonade….it isn’t strictly berry.
With that being said, it is quite sweet. The first time I purchased this I had sweetner with it, but the second time I did not. It is still great without. The strength of it and the sweetness of it are perfect.
Although I have not yet purchased a stash of this, I probably will soon. It will be a great tea to drink iced this summer. Then I will have one to alternate with Magic Dragon!
Flavors: Berry, Blueberry, Lemon, Lemongrass, Sweet
I looooooove this tea!
Lemon teas have always been a favorite of mine. I especially love honey lemon tea! I don’t know why I haven’t tried this sooner.
I went into DAVID’s TEA with a new friend the other day and we were smelling some teas. Then I stumbled upon this gem and ended up purchasing 50g (even though I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more tea!).
I love this so much. First of all, it’s a black tea. I love black tea. Secondly, it’s lemony. I love lemon. Overall this is really great. I bought this to go in store, and I got it with sweetner. The sweetner really brought out the lemon flavor. However, when I tried this at home with some agave, I really did not like the sweetner in it. I preferred it without. Maybe they forgot to put it in when I got it in store! Oh well! Without the sweetner the lemon flavour is more dominant.
I was very happy with this purchase, and I will probably keep a stock of this in my tea cupboard. It is very tasty!
Flavors: Citrus Fruits, Lemon, Orange
Mmm! I enjoy this! I bought this as a cold to go cup a week or two ago (I am getting behind in my reviews, so this one will be quite short!). It was quite tasty, although the flavor was very mild. I enjoyed it though, it was very refreshing. I love the lemongrass!
I did not stock up on this tea, but I wish I would have while it was here. This was my favorite from this collection by far. I should have bought more of this, instead of buying some Sunny Citrus. Maybe my local store still has some kicking around. I’ll have to check!
Flavors: Citrusy, Lemongrass, Pear, Pineapple
I got this tea in the 12 Days of Tea package this Christmas! I finished up the little tin today (I got three cups of it from the little tin! I was so surprised!) and I figured I would review it.
I like this tea, but I only like it when it is really strong. I found that even after 10 minutes of sitting in the water it still seemed quite weak. I had this in a travel mug so I didn’t take my tea bag out. After about a half an hour of steeping I enjoyed it a lot more.
This tea isn’t wowing me, but it isn’t awful. The ginger flavor comes through and it also has kind of a sweet undertone. Reminds me of honey maybe? I’m not sure. Overall I would definitely drink this again, but I won’t be stocking up on it. It’s a little too…plain? I love ginger in tea, and like I said this is yummy, but it doesn’t knock my socks off. I think that it might be the rooibos that I’m not overly fond of. I’m still learning what I like haha! Maybe I would have enjoyed this a bit more with some sweetener!
There are other ginger teas from DT that I would drink over this one, but this isn’t that bad.
Flavors: Earth, Ginger, Honey, Rooibos
Preparation
Yuuuuuuuuuuum!
I was feeling spontaneous and picked up about 30g of this at my local DT. Am I ever glad that I did! I really didn’t know what to expect by the ingredients. Cinnamon, obviously, but I wasn’t sure what to expect from the rest. I really like it! I find that when I smelled it in store (or even at home) the cinnamon scent is very overpowering. I was kind of worried that it would be too strong. It isn’t though! I usually just throw a tea bag into my travel mug and go, so the bag stays in the whole time. The cinnamon didn’t get stronger the longer it stayed in, it kind of plateaued after a few minutes of brewing (is brewing the right word here?).
I have heard that people think this tastes like apple pie. I do not get that from this at all. I mean, I guess I can kind of see where they are coming from, but it’s not what I notice when I drink it. For me, the peach flavor really stands out, which is great because I love peach things! Overall the peach is really well balanced, and like I said before it doesn’t get gross after a long time. It levels out and the flavors work really nicely together. I will definitely stock up on this. Probably one of my favorite teas!
On a side note, don’t drink this cold. It wasn’t a good experience…there is something off-putting about “warm” (warm in a spicy sense) cinnamon cold. I would reccomend this 100 times over though as a hot drink!
Flavors: Apple, Caramel, Cinnamon, Fruity, Peach, Sweet

My friend bought me tea today! Yay! I feel so loved! I decided to try this tea. I’ve never had a straight black tea from DT, so I was really excited! It smelled so lovely! I’m not sure how many pearls were in my cup because I got it to go and I never thought to ask. My first sip was sooo yummy! Then I drove home. Aaaaaaand my tea bag was still in my tea. Aaaaaand now it is almost too strong to drink :( Too floral for my taste right now! (The tea itself was soooo dark, and in the DT post they say it should be a light golden liquor haha. Oops!) I will definitely be trying this again and I’ll actually make it properly. I usually like strong tea but this time I left the bag in waaaaay too long.
I will have some frequent steeper points to use up soon so I think I might try this as my free tea! It’s quite pricey so I don’t know that I would buy a big tin or anything, but if I can get it for free I definitely will!
Flavors: Floral, Jasmine, Smooth
Preparation
I got this sample from David’s when I placed an order! (I love how they give samples with every order!!)
I wouldn’t have thought to try this tea. I don’t think I would have purchased any in store after smelling it either. Since this was a sample though, I had to give it a try!
My initial reaction is that it smells like soap. I think it’s the combination of lavender and blueberry. I love lavender in tea! But not with berries. Once I gave it a try it reconfirmed my initial opinion. Definitely tastes soapy. I really just am not a fan of this. I also get something reminiscent of jam? I’m not too sure what this tastes like.
The only rooibos I’ve tried before this is Alpine Punch from DT (love it!) so I don’t know if its the rooibos thats throwing me off or the berries or what. I’m rambling now, I’m sorry.
To conclude: I will never buy this. I won’t stock up on it or buy a cup to go. Not for me! You might enjoy this if you like more floral, fruity teas.
