1759 Tasting Notes
Tried this again today… only with more leaves and a timer. At first I thought it was oversteeped, but then I added a dash of milk and mmmmmmm! It tastes a tad medicinal before the milk, but not as much afterwards. Also, I had to add a significant amount of sugar (1 tsp, that’s alot for me) so that the flavour would come out- not a good thing.
So… most positively not my absolute fave, but a nice change from the usual… esp considering the benefits of my guaranteed great mood! I wonder if my mood is shading the score I gave this tea? eh, probably…

I found it rather enjoyable but somewhat weak as I do with all teas lately. Next week I shall add more leaves and less water to the brew. Maybe then my taste sensors will pick up the pepper

Ok so drinking tea while I have the flu is just not as fun. I should know this by now… having commented on it in each post since Thursday, ugh!!!
Whatever. This is still a good tea (see my earlier review) but it’s simply less flavourful, darn those dampened flavour receptors.

Maybe because I’m sick…. darn flu! but something about this tea is a touch off. I think I oversteeped it a minute or two, and I had to add a whole lotta sugar. What’s in it tastes artificial?? I know figs can taste that way for me at times, so that could be it.
Otherwise, I’m enjoying the oolong part of it, and there is something refreshing in there as well. Could it be the watermelon and honeydew? If that were the case, you would think it would lend some sweetness to the brew. Hmmmm.
Well, I may change this rating later on, but for now it gets a humble 83

I’m down with the flu… for the first time in years. Ick! I thought it would cut down my nausea but I think it made me feel worse… but that is no fault of the tea, as nothing seems to be helping. Ugh, Zeus help me!
On any other day this tea would get a much higher rating

This tea definitely relaxes me… but it also tastes somewhat like the Throat formula tea I bought from Teaopia, only not as strong-which I don’t notice when sick because of my dampened taste buds.
Every time I have some, I taste that medicinal mint/anise/gingery sweetness that makes me think of having a flu or cold. So… yet another tea that has it’s purpose but I will likely never crave. Bah! It gets extra points for usefulness of course, but that’s it. Nope, not upping the rating on this one!
Anyhow, I am a little excited today because I have a job interview tomorrow!! that and my very good friend Doug departs on his 720km 7 day bike ride to support his grassroots campaign for Multiple Sclerosis. Check out justaguywithabike.com! it’s a truly inspiring story.

So, this wasn’t the perfect steep… my being at work and all. I had no teaspoon to measure with and was using an extra large mug, and had no timer… which could be why this turned out to be a lot lighter than what I expected, based on previous comments, and the way it smells(not bad but not heavenly either).
If you like goji berries, this is a good tea. I can actually taste it in the tea! It isn’t an overpowering taste, and kindof earthy… which I think works well in a tea. There is a touch of berry-sourness in the aftertaste but I can’t be sure that is the goji…. I’d like to see what it does to an oolong base to.
Also, there is a minty aftertaste that accompanies the goji. Is that the St. Johns Wort? I have no idea what it tastes like… but it isn’t bad! I quite enjoy it. Interesting that it doesn’t hit you upfront like most mint does.
Overall a very smooth and enjoyable tea. Not my go to tea for flavour, but maybe for the pick-me up effect. Not that I dislike the taste, it just isn’t my fave. I may up this later.
Oh, and I used half a packet of sugar… I don’t think it would have done well otherwise.

tart. sweet. hint of vanilla. berries… oh yeah. another mood tea though-aren’t they all??
I would love to try this with a dash of mint. but then I find myself saying that about most of my fruit teas…
This one is unique, I think, because of the vanilla. I really enjoy how it plays of the berry. oh and that I can let it steep for as long as I want!! great for walking around town while I browse shops

Mmmmmm one of my favourites, despite that I only have the bagged variety… and I know how amazing it can be when done up right!! (ie. looseleaf, brewed proper) It is easier to make this simple bagged kind though… just place the bag in a pot, fill with water… and wait an hour or so- if you prefer an extra chill, put it in the fridge, but I have sensitive teeth so room temperature is great for me.
It is a cold tea though, not really one that goes down easy when hot.
Anyhow… I love the roasted flavour that comes out, and the mild bitterness that follows in the aftertaste… and I think there is a nutty flavour to, which I also like but can get a little abrasive at times.
On those days when I feel hydration is in order, this is what I rely on. The flavour comes out almost immediately after dunking so I often don’t bother waiting for it to steep- essentially giving me simple flavoured water :)
—this tea is a great source of calcium to, and with my dislike of milk I need all the calcium I can get!!
