Ever wonder why Adam and Eve used fig leaves to cover up? Well, some speculate that what Eve ate was not an apple at all, but a sweet, ripe fig. Which makes sense, because figs truly are the most seductive of fruits. Especially when paired with oolong, honeydew and watermelon, and strewn with carrot flakes and safflower petals. This tea is so tempting it’s almost sinful.

So I bought this nearly two years ago and somehow, it disappeared into the shallow depths of my cupboard. Since then, I’ve rearranged things, taken everything completely out and sorted… and it was never found, til today. How on earth does that work? I think it was in that place where socks go, from the laundry. Sighs.
So of course I had to make a cup! and it’s not bad. Alot of the flavour is gone but that was to be expected, I think.
If anyone wants some of this, let me know. I have about 30g and there is no way I can drink it all before going super stale!

The aroma is kind of fruity and rich; I could be convinced that it’s fig. Although I used to eat fig cookies all the time, and have eaten figs, I’m not actually super sure as to what sort of aroma they have!
Oooh, this is oversteeped :( A little astringent for my liking. It’s also a little… weirder than I remember. The flavour’s a bit floral, almost, although more fruity. That’s probably the fig, though. I can kind of taste the oolong background, but the astringency is really ruining it for me here. Astringency gives me an unhappy tummy. I’ll finish the cup, but… bleh. Probably not a loss that DT discontinued this one.

The steeped tea smells less darkly figgy to me and more other fruits, probably melons. The flavor is somewhere in between, a fruity blend that is pretty good but kind of odd. Fig, melon and carrot is not a combo I would have thought of! The oolong underneath is kind of generally formosa oolongy but not too notable… it’s neither very roasty or very green. Overall it’s a pretty tasty tea, but I’m not too broken up that it’s not available anymore.
Well I am finally logging a note on this one. I have had it for ages and am not entirely positive that I ever tried it. It seems to be a roasted oolong which is a good start but a lot of the flavours are diminished, probably because I have had it for so long. I do get a note that I could call melon but I am not picking up on fig or any of the other ingredients. Not bad but I’ll be okay when it’s gone.
This is my first DavidsTea hate. I hate it. Somehow the melon flavors are tasting like roses to me. There is nothing that I hate more than rose petals in my tea. I know they aren’t there, but that is what I am getting. It’s almost like a pot-pourri. Bleah. Also, I cannot tell that this is an oolong. I cannot taste the base at all (which is incidentally what I love about the flavored black teas, but somehow with an oolong I want to taste it).

True. Although I am falling for all of the spring teas. That’s gonna come back to bite me.

Unfortunately I’ll have to drink some of what I have before I can order more. Tea drawer is maxed out. Husband’s head will explode if I buy more tea. :)
Ah, that’s when you get hubby addicted and turn tea drawer into tea shelves. : )
Nope. Still can’t do it.
I even tried brewing it for a shorter time at a slightly lower temp, BUT this tea and I were not meant to be.
At least my 13-month-old enjoyed sipping on it lukewarm…
Same thing for me! it tastes strange! but not good strange! That’s why it was only a tea of the month I guess, and it didn’t stay after that!
Very strange, indeed. I’ve tried everything to make this palatable: different steep times, temps, mixing with other teas. Nothing makes it good. Sigh.

I enjoy DAVIDs Oolongs, but this one was a bust! BIG TIME! To the point that I am happy I only asked for 10g. It’s very vegital, though I don’t mind a veggy taste it really does not mix well with the intense fig smell or the melon taste…
I’ll be happy when this is done.

that’s what I thought when I first tried it!! but then I took a chance on a second and third infusion, those were much more appealing for me. Odd, I find that with greens, rarely with oolongs.
This Oolong left something to be desired, and I did three steepings and for the most part all I could taste was the carrots, they were over powering for sure.

A fruit oolong, something out of the ordinary for me. This is very good. I can taste melon, both honeydew and water varieties. There is a bit of floral flavor and a hint of pear, although the description does not mention it. It is a darker oolong, almost amber and slightly roasted. This tea has a depth to it, not just taste on the surface, it seems to go down a few layers. Thanks QG, this is very interesting and delightful.
I also refused the bait and spared you all comments about forbidden things…fruit or otherwise. :)
This is an interesting tea. The bright fruits against the black tea leaves are really pretty. I’m loving the fruity scent, even if it is a bit bizarre.. just something I haven’t tried before. The oolong is definitely earthy and most of the fruit flavor is at the end of the sip. It sort of reminds me of a natural fruit and veggie smoothie. Strange and interesting, but not my favorite DAVIDsTEA. Thank you to laney for a sample of this!
