1759 Tasting Notes
More and more I’m noticing that I don’t need to add sugar to my teas. Now, is this a function of age?? or an evolved palate… errr, well I hope it isn’t the former :)
I love this tea. LOVE it!! the only gripe I have is that, like most Mates, in my opinion, it can get a little harsh… like eating too much honey (as I did as a child. I won’t admit to doing that as an adult! I’m a kid at heart… what can I say) off the spoon.
That, and I still think it tastes like bananas! The smoothness makes up for it of course. Gosh darn that is one smooooooth sip. I feel like it’s puttin’ the moves on me ;)
This is the last Tess Tea I had yet to try, til this morning. It’s not horrible, but not great either.
Green teas rarely float my boat but after tasting the other two tess’s I had high hopes for this one… so I am rather disappointed.
It doesn’t irritate my throat atleast. There, I said SOMETHING good about this tea.
The green part is rather mild and grassy but the fruity note takes over. It tastes like artificial strawberry additive.
I should not have added any sugar but it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference anyhow.
Well… I’ll drink this again, though I’m not overly excited about it.
Onwards with the hunt for a green tea I love!
Preparation
This is one of the first looseleaf teas that were gifted to me. I’m just coming to the end of my tin now and I’m a little sad! I love how it’s naturally sweet and floral without overpowering the senses. Yummmmm! I use it mostly to calm my occassional bouts of RLS but tonight I just wanted some chamomile :)
I can’t do that too often, lest it stop working to calm the nerves, but oh how I wish I could <3<3<3
Preparation
I tried this at the shop this morning. It was tasty, I quite liked it! However the caffeine proved to be a bit much, I was jitterbuggin all over the place.
The tea itself was actually a little nutty, not something I expected but I’ve noticed that in oolongs before, as they cool down. When it was still relatively hot, the tea was remarkably champagne-y without any of the alcohol burn, which I am also impressed with. However, I did find it was slightly astringent… not enough to bother me though.
I had been looking forward to my morning tea since planning out my path to work the night before, so every sip of this tea was savoured.
Would I buy it?? maybe. I am undecided on that, but definitely considering it. It isn’t complex enough for me to absolutely fall in love with it- I’m at serious like right now.
Oh, and I added a dash of agave, but I think it may have been better without.
Preparation
I used a bag this time… and I realize now how much of a difference it actually makes! I was dissapointed. Heavily. None of the grapefruit came through at all and it tasted rather weak even though I left the bag in for nearly ten minutes.
Oh well, can’t win every time. Here’s to better luck tomorrow! —I’ll be out n about so there’ll be no updates from me til late, if at all. What will I ever do without my Steepster fix?!
Oh and I wish we could do status updates on this site!!!
Preparation
I had this yesterday, as a latte. I added sugar, but apparently too much. It was OK. Not great, but OK. I’ve had chai prepared the “real” way with fresh spices etc a few times lately and it was oh SO good.
It is possible I didn’t add enough leaves but I’m not sure how to gauge that when steeping in milk
I love this tea so no way am I writing it off. Unless this happens consistently. If it does I will be heartbroken :(
I had it with milk this time, and sugar…. mmmmm! burnt orange tea-creamsicle. It wasn’t what I wanted to have, but Mum likes to share tea bags (she likes hers exceptionally weak, and it’s such a shame to waste the bag) so I caved to her whim— Not that it was any great hardship :)
I had this in the store today, served cold with tapioca. THIS is my happy place.
In fact, many of my friends would say that it’s bubble tea, specifically that of Ten Ren’ s which started my love affair with looseleaf (I would disagree)
This particular tea, Osmanthus is one I come back to time and again… and for years was the only flower base tea that I ever savoured. It has such delicate notes that draw me in… so much so that I don’t even realize half the cup is gone until someone points it out to me.
I love how it smells like a floral bouquet, yet tastes more like candied flowers instead… not all sharp, pungent, or bitter the way I find Jasmine and Lavender can be. It reminds me of magnolias, which also happen to be my favourite flower.
Funny how memory can link things like that together dont’cha think? :)
Maybe I oversteeped this, or perhaps my allergies are clouding my judgement and taste sensors… but this is just ok. Dry, it smells heavenly. Steeped, not so much.
I can’t taste much of anything berry, nevermind the pomegranate. There is “something” there besides white tea, but I would not say that it is berry. Maybe just generic fruit.
The white part is pretty boring, and aggravates my throat the way alot of jasmine or green tea does. It feels all itchy and dry after a sip.
Now that the cup has cooled, it tastes very watery and fresh, but still scratchy. I am not impressed with anything about this tea.
Thankfully I only have a sample. I guess Bulk Barn can’t get it right all the time…
