A simple, straightforward, better than average green tea.

drank Steeped Tea by Tim Hortons

This is my go-to tea if I’m on the go and need a quick fix. I find the steeped tea at Tim Horton’s such a refreshing change from their coffee. I always drink this tea with two milk and one sugar. I’m not sure why but drinking this in the autumn and winter makes it taste so much better.

drank Pumpkin Spice by Tim Hortons

I’ve become addicted to DAVID’s spiced pumpkin tea. As I’m waiting for that tea to arrive in the mail, I decided to pick up a box of this. I figured you can’t go wrong with $3.50 for a box of 20 tea bags (It’s amazing how they selling cups of tea of this for $1.5-$2.00…such a killing!).

I brought it home and made this tea into a latte. I ripped open 4 tea bags, poured the dust into my steeper, and brewed it for 5min with 8oz of boiled water, mixed with frothed 1% milk and about 1/2 tsp of sugar.

At first I didn’t mind this: spices with a pumpkin flavouring (although the flavouring was a bit artificial). However, as I got closer to the bottom of my cup, the spices started getting more powerful. It’s then I realized that one of the main ingredients in this tea is BLACK PEPPER. I could understand cinnamon, but black pepper? It’s then that my latte reminded me of some soup I made the other day (chicken, wild rice + veggies mixed with milk to make it a “cream” soup. so good) when I accidentally added a touch too much of black pepper. Now, that soup was good, but a pumpkin spice latte should not remind me of it, nor should have black pepper in it in my opinion. My stomach started feeling weird with the pepper.

Altogether, not the best tea due to the potency of the black pepper, but I can easily use it up by using 2 tea bags of this mixed with another tea. Won’t repurchase, but there is no guilt in me buying this since it’s only $3.50. Not to mention, I made 1 latte for my husband, one for me, so I’m almost half way done the box already since buying it yesterday.

UPDATE: This tea is a bit better just as plain tea (i.e. 1 bag steeped in 1 cup of boiled water). It tastes like slightly sweet rooibos with a bit of spice. I’ll prob use it up as an afternoon tea at work. Still not crazy about it, but it’s not bad.

drank Honey Lemon by Tim Hortons

I seem to have come down with a nasty cold, which means teas that wouldn’t necessarily be my first pick (but at least I can get through anything I have with licorice). I found myself at school this afternoon and needed a throat soothing pick me up, so I went with this. Honey has never been my favourite, and lemon has to be done well so I didn’t have high expectations.

Overall this was okay (take that with a grain of salt; I can’t really taste anything right now). The lemon was very lemony. It tasted like the chicken breast my boyfriend basted in lemon juice the other day. Not strictly unpleasant, but perhaps a little intense and acidic. Didn’t really get the honey at all. Wouldn’t buy again unless it was the best option around for a sore throat.

A girl where I work told me that she loves this tea and if I hadn’t tried it yet, then I should so after work, off I went to Timmies. I got a medium with cream and sugar. Yum! She was right, it is really good. I’m not sure if I would like it as much as I did if I hadn’t had cream and sugar added. The cream made it nice and smooth and the sugar added a little extra sweetness. The pumpkin and spice flavours were definitely there. It was like Thanksgiving or Autumn in a cup, if you will. Even the girl who waited on me said how happy she was that they brought this tea back because it was her favourite. I thoroughly enjoyed my cup of this. I like it better than any other pumpkin tea I’ve tried so far. I’m happy it wasn’t too “chai” like because I’m not a fan of chai teas. I’ll have to try it black and see if I still like it as much.

This was my first tea other than my mom’s no frills orange pekoe that I had. I loved it. About 20 years later I married an Englishman. Funny how that works.

I like it! I’m a peppermint tea guy anyway and when I’m not at home and on the go and want to grab a quick tea, I’ll often go through the drive-through and pick up a medium. Sipping away on it makes me feel calm and soothed. I’m no pro in how a high quality peppermint tea is supposed to taste as opposed to a lower quality one but I like this one just fine!

drank Orange Pekoe by Tim Hortons

This is absolutely average tea but at it’s an old reliable, I guess. There’s nothing really to describe because I think most people have had a plain ol’ Orange Pekoe before. I think their “steeped tea” is this tea, too. Regardless of the quality, there’s something comforting about a warm cup of Timmie’s in your hands. It just makes everything better.

We stopped at Tim Hortons after a cleaning spree at our old apartment and I grabbed a whole pile of food (it’s not lunch without half a dozen doughnuts, right?) and got this as part of a combo.

I got a medium with two milk, two sugar, and it was delicious, in that heavily doctored black-tea-that-tastes-like-black-tea way. Nothing special but tasty and easy to drink down fast.

When I’m working at the college and I’ve forgotten my tea this is what I order-except I always ask for the bag separate because if they put it in their crazy hot water it BURNS the leaves and it tastes bitter and horrible. Once I let the water cool off for 10-20 min I then steep it quickly and after that it’s decent. It’s not the best tea but it works in a pinch.

Oversteeped & scalded green tea from Tim Hortons had me convinced that I didn’t actually like green tea very much for the longest time.

Kristal

I was in the same boat as you when I starting drinking green tea since I made it like black/herbal teas. Luckily a lady a DAVID’s tea set me straight in how to make it :)

M

That’s a good idea actually! I’ve always hated the tea I’ve ordered from Tim Hortons, but now that you mention it, it might not be the fault of the actual tea. I also burned my green tea for years before learning that it wasn’t supposed to taste so bitter.

Kristal

The tea isn’t actually that bad-it’s standard green tea with lemon grass ground up and although not high quality it’s decent. It’s just their water is always crazy scalding hot.

M

That is true. Next time I’ll ask for the bag separately and wait a bit. I believe the first tea I ever drank was actually a Tim Hortons steeped tea loaded with milk and sugar. I’m not sure if I could stomach that bitter, oversteeped, oversweetened mess these days.

Kristal

I totally agree. It reminds me of my church-after the service they make (black) tea and coffee. I can’t drink coffee so one day I tried drinking their tea (they put 2 tea bags in a carafe with boiling water and leave it). I literally took one sip and dumped the rest out in the sink because it was so bitter and horrible. Not to be ungrateful but I’m my stomach can’t hand bitter, over steeped tea either.

One of the nicer of their fruit teas, i prefer it to the blueberry which is still pretty good

I’ve tried a good dozen different chai teas and this is still my favourite – even though its the cheapest of them all, ironically.

It’s the best when that happens! :]

This tea is sweet and soothing. When I worked at Tim’s I would have a cup whenever I was sick (aka most of the winter) and it made my throat feel nice. Or at least less awful. Maybe not the best lemon tea ever but it’s not bad!

I used to work at Tim’s. I wasn’t a fan of some of their teas but I actually really liked this one. With a sugar or two it tastes like mint candy. Probably the best bagged mint tea I’ve had… I’m sure there’s a fancy loose leaf one out there that’s better though!

I’m not usually a fan of white teas, I find them to be way too weak usually (although it could just be a bad experience with supermarket white teas).

I bought a medium blueberry white and asked for two tea bags, which flavour-wise was perfect, I got just the right amount of blueberry flavour and gorgeous colour!

However, I think this one does need to be sweetened or enjoyed with a dessert, and definitely take the tea bags out after a few minutes. I’ll order this tea again, though.

(brew-time set high because I left my tea bags in, I’d probably take them out at 3-5 mins in the future)

Not a bad tea if you’re craving something apple-cinnamon-y. Tastes a lot better than the apple cider sachets I bought at the grocery store, and gives me way more control over the sweetness – perfect to enjoy with a Timmy’s doughnut.
