30 Tasting Notes
I love this tea, but it’s pretty tricky to make it just right. Tried to make an iced tea with it today, not thinking that it’s a black/pu’erh and that I won’t need to make it extra strong, sooo I put 4 Perfect Spoons in my steeper, boiled my water, steeped for 5 minutes aaaaand YUCK! No amount of agave would save this – sadly it went down the sink.
Second steep, same leaves – water had cooled off a bit, and I only steeped for 3 minutes instead of 5. Still added at least 2 “shots” of agave (about half my bottle is gone now, due to the first steep). Drinkable, but still not as good as when the Tea Guides make it.
Sufficed to say, if I buy this loose leaf again it’ll be for hot tea only. If I want it iced, I’ll go get it from a DT location.
Flavors: Citrus, Earth, Orange, Orange Zest
Preparation
2 DAVIDsTEA perfect spoons, 500mL water at 175F (“Green” button on my kettle), in my Steeper, and poured over ice!
Omg, am I ever impressed, it tastes just like the sample I had in the store! I often find when I make iced teas at home they come out way weaker and less impressive than I remember from buying iced tea at DT, so I’m pretty happy right now.
I get a lovely smooth lime with just a hint of vanilla creaminess, it’s lovely. I don’t get a really “green” flavour, which I’m glad of because I’m usually not a fan of green teas.
I’m finding I actually like it better just cool/lukewarm rather than iced. As I cool it off, it’s getting quite weak – probably would’ve been better off making a pitcher and chilling it rather than pouring it over ice.
Flavors: Cream, Creamy, Lime, Smooth, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
For the longest time whenever I would make lattes at home I would always wonder why they never tasted as good as when I would be at DAVIDs. About a year ago I found out that you needed to brew it 4x the strength and that solved the problem. For iced teas I usually do cold brews in the fridge in 2L pitchers since I never have ice to make then right away, lol.
@Kristal, I totally agree! Although you have to be careful with certain ones – DEFINITELY don’t 4x the black or pu’erh teas, YUCK (I just used 4 “perfect spoons” of Juicy Orange and ended up pouring it down the sink. I used half my bottle of agave, there was no saving that tea)
I’ve used my pitcher once, and never really ended up drinking the tea, so it kinda went weird… Plus we never seem to have enough room in the fridge. Once I finally got “The Steeper”, I started making more iced tea.
I’m not even sure I know how to do a cold brew…
Brewed it hot, but sipped it iced! Used my Steeper from DT – so glad I finally bought one, makes iced tea so much easier! Just wish I’d bought more of their summer collection teas last year!
I love this tea; the blend of flavours is perfect, and it doesn’t need to be sweetened to make a good iced tea. My first steep was perfect, second was a little weak (even though I steeped about the same time, if not a little longer). This would go in my permanent collection of DT hadn’t discontinued it after the summer =(
Flavors: Coconut, Strawberry, Sweet
Preparation
SO happy I finally have one of these in my cupboard (500mL/18oz version)! Just used it to make my first iced tea of the season (which was the whole reason I bought it XD) The only unfortunate thing is the first tea I picked to use with it isn’t that great…
I stocked up on a bunch of loose leaf to use specifically for iced teas last summer, but just ended up going to my local DAVIDsTEA to get them to make it all the time (hated screwing around with water quantities, etc. at home). Iced tea season is upon us, so it was time to get one of these xD
Ooh, I’ll have to try that at some point! I usually either drink mine clear or with just a touch of white sugar (although I’m starting to taste the different agave makes…will have to get some of that next time xD)
I just made a 3rd iced tea in it, used DT’s Hard Candy this time, and it was PERFECT.
Nice! If you drink lots of iced tea I recommend getting one of their iced tea pitchers too :) easily makes 2L at a time
Wow, am I ever behind on my ratings! I tried this as an iced tea this summer, and totally forgot to rate it.
Bought as an iced tea at the mall, before going to a concert with a friend. I seem to remember just a hint of maple, but definitely didn’t require any extra sugar. Will have to order it again to really give it a proper review
Edit: I got this as a hot tea in my Mint Curve Travel Mug in summer 2016…the mug still smells like Maple and it’s summer 2017…
Flavors: Maple, Sugar, Sweet
Brewed a pot of this just after I got up, and have been nursing a cup all day. Tried making iced tea with it, but it wasn’t strong enough and just tasted like really watery cinnamon. This is definitely designed to be a hot tea, although drinking it after it’s cooled off isn’t bad.
It’s sweet enough on it’s own, but I could see adding a tiny bit of sugar and maybe a little bit of milk to make it a dessert tea. I’d almost liken it to drinking a liquid cinnamon roll, which is pretty great.
I was hoping to get through the pot fast enough to get a second steep out of the leaves, cause I always feel guilty using like 3-4 “perfect spoons” of leaves and only getting one brew out of them. Today was a pretty lazy day though, so I’m not surprised I didn’t manage to drink a pot of tea. I think it’s time I go back to brewing one cup at a time.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Sweet

Yummy!! Got this one iced a few days ago, and what a treat! On it’s own, it’s quite tart, but sweeten it and it’s like sipping fresh-picked strawberries. Definitely one I’m going to have to add to my collection (why must I be running out of space in my cupboard?) I also didn’t get overwhelmed by the hibiscus, which was a nice change
(brewed hot by tea guides, consumed iced)
Flavors: Strawberry, Sweet, Tart
Preparation
Man, I love this tea!! So far it’s the only one this summer I’ve gone and bought as an iced tea twice xD I’m definitely going to have to add some this one to my collection once I have some room in my tea drawer <3
Brewed hot but drank iced (prepared by the Tea Guides)
Flavors: Chocolate, Mint, Rooibos, Sweet
Preparation
I’d been dying to sample this tea, and I finally bit the bullet and got it iced. It was stupidly hot out, and we’d been downtown walking around for hours. Long story short, this was exactly what I needed, cool & sweet, like a mint-chocolate cupcake or ice cream (but with way less sugar).
This will definitely be one I need to add to my cupboard (when I finally use up some of the old supermarket stuff xD) I bet it’s really good hot too, which will be awesome for the fall/winter.
Tasted sweet without being overpowering, I loved the mix of the chocolate and rooibos flavours, and the minty finish. I didn’t get any of the woody flavour that others have mentioned, this one was perfect and just what I needed.
(bought as an iced tea in-store, so I didn’t brew it, the tea guides did, brewed hot but served ice)
Flavors: Chocolate, Mint, Rooibos, Sweet
