Joy's Teaspoon

I’m in tea heaven! Wow, Joy’s Teaspoon, this is amazing! I have found one of my favorites and the second and third steeps were just as delicious. (On the shopping list!)

Okay, first, the dry tea scent is sooooooo tantalizing! Fruity, fresh, begging to be brewed.

175/2 min… Ahhh… the scent, if possible, is even stronger. The taste is like the tropics. It’s tropical fruity, like pineapple and hula skirts. The green tea matches it so well. I love being able to taste both the fruit and the tea. It’s outstanding! Subsequent steeps were just as heavenly.

OH…this smells SOOOOO good, I could let it steep all day just to make the house smell good.

Would highly recommend. Very good….taste the cinnamon, pear, and….

This is an interesting tisane. I drank it hot – love the hot pink color! There are so many layers of this tea: first it starts out tangy and citrusy, then becomes floral and fruity, but ends like a sweet, candied apple.

I’ll have to try this iced, but hot it is delicious. I didn’t steep it for as long as recommended, only about five minutes. However I have a dislike of hibiscus; I don’t like tea that it too tart or too tangy.

At five minutes, this brews up perfectly pink and deliciously smooth.

So, after a first failure to find fruitiness in a morning cup of tea, I’m turning to South Sea Magic from Joy’s Teaspoon. I only purchased the sample size of this one, but that little tin holds so much promise in its scent. It smells rich, like the black tea base it has, but also fruity and fresh and very tropical. (All good things in my quest!)

Boiling/1 minute

Mmm… still smells tropical! I’m getting excited that this tea may actually deliver a fruity taste, too. So, without further hesitation, I sip and it really is fruity! It’s truly a shared experience with neither the fruitiness (think mango, possibly papaya) nor the black tea overpowering the other. It’s very good. So good that I will most likely order a larger size of this and I’m not really a black tea kind of person.

I have had a love affair with lavender thanks to my grandma’s garden. My Oma has had lovely lavender growing in her garden for years. So I am completely biased about any and all things lavender.

Lavender tea is one of those weird things that you’re not sure if it will actually taste good. Like the illusive Bacon Diet Coke. Lavender is an herb, something you use in soap, bath salts and other bath products.

But this tea is wonderful! It brews up purplish – which tickles me – and is soothing and comforting. I taste lavender and sweet black tea. As with most of Joy’s Teaspoon teas, you can infuse at least two, if not more, times.

Third infusion – still going strong. Strong lavender, strong cup of calmness, strong love for lavender.

I tried this as a sample from Joy’s Teaspoon, and I’m glad that I did.

This is one of the better green/black blends I’ve had. A sip starts out light and peachy, then is taken over by the black tea. That might be my only real complaint: I would have liked more of the green tea and peach flavor. Still, it’s very nice. The peach flavor isn’t obnoxious like some fruit flavoring can be, and helps to mellow out the black tea bite. It’s most apparent in the smell, which is incredibly delicious.

I would recommend this to anybody who wants green tea with a little more oomph, or people who want a more mellow fruity black tea.

2nd infusion. More cinnamon-y this time around. As a cinnamon fan, I love it. :) It smells more cinnamon-y too. Delish! :)

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this tea – simply cinnamon and simply delicious! I usually add a packet or two of Splenda to my tea, but with this one is sweet on its own. It smells soft and buttery too, which is a nice touch.

This is a hearty breakfast tea too – perfect to get the day rolling. Hence the name cinnamon roll, eh? Please ignore my awful puns but do enjoy this wonderful tea!

What can you say about this one that hasn’t already been said. It looks to be a steepster fav!

Unfortunately I think I’ve discovered that I’m not a huge fan of Rooibos. Of the few that I’ve tried, I just don’t enjoy the flavor that seems specific to Rooibos. But I will keep on trying! I do love the idea of this tea.

Additional notes: Sipdown on my sample! I’m sad that not many others have tried this one. It’s a very strong rooibos, if a rooibos could be called strong. Meaning it has more flavor that most rooibos teas do. But I like that. The rooibos kind of competes for the spotlight with the raspberry and vanilla. I can’t believe this one still tasted so good, since it wasn’t even in a resealable package.

Sipping this again and I think it is even better the second time I’m trying it. A very true vanilla tea. A lot of teas claim they are vanilla and really aren’t. But this one is very vanillay and the rooibos really aids that flavor. I still think a stronger raspberry flavor is needed, but this is a lovely tea.

Yes, I did wait until Valentine’s Day to try this tea. I thought it sounded like a Valentine’s Day tea and it is, but really I’d drink it any time! Raspberries are my favorite, so I had to try this sample from Joy’s Teaspoon. I think it could have used more raspberry flavor, but the vanilla rooibos didn’t hurt! I love rooibos as well. A lovely scent and a delicious tea!

Just finished the last of my sample from JoysTeaspoon. Gonna reuse the bag in a trade with Jeff Van Wie. (He’s going to have a lot of homework to do, haha.) Anyway, I brewed the rest in my triniTea and am drinking it out of a tall mug.

Mellow and mild as the first cup, without a trace of harshness. A delicious, sweet darjeeling with a good muscatel presence. Mmm.

I’ve never met a darjeeling I didn’t like, and this is no exception. It’s a little milder and less “green” tasting than what I’ve been drinking lately, but it’s nice. As usual, the muscatel flavor is strong and lingers in my mouth. No sharpness whatsoever. It’s an all-around standard and good representation of darjeeling tea.

I bought four ounces of this in Joy’s Teaspoon’s going out of business sale. Eight years ago I had gotten a free sample and loved it. I was young and really inexperienced then, but plum is still a favorite, so I went for it again.

This is such a nice break from spiced and heavy, bitter black teas. I didn’t remember it having a floral note, but it does and I really like it. Yeah, maybe this doesn’t warrant a 97 rating like I had set it when I was 24, but it’s still up there. Realistic plum skin and juice flavor. Great over ice. Buying four ounces wasn’t a mistake.

Had to have another cup. One left, I regret to say.

This time I gave it a minute longer to steep and a half a teaspoon more leaf. It’s perfect. Plum tea bliss.

This is delightful, especially on such a warm, sunny day. The fruity plum taste is very strong and well-balanced with the black tea ratio. The black tea itself is mellow, and doesn’t sharpen the tea with its bitterness at all. Honestly, this outshines the Adagio Plum I’m always going on about. It’s just so juicy and sweet, and pretty with the bits of dried fruit and flower petals. I love it.

I’m so thrilled to FINALLY have some tea from Joy’s Teaspoon! A week ago, a mangled package arrived on my doorstep. It had been opened and I ended up having to pitch the tea as even some containers had been opened. (You never know!) So, the tease came through smelling these wonderful samples going to waste. I’ve been pining for the Sunny Passion as it has the most amazing tropical scent. I literally found myself thinking about it during down times… driving home from work, in bed at night…

So, today I finally have it and am really drinking it! (175/3 min) It’s delicious! The smell, even once brewed is still there. Like papaya and mango. Tropical. The taste is not overly fruity, but is a good balance of a fresh tasting green tea with fruit. It’s pleasant and refreshing and almost juice-like. I feel lighter, just as this tea tastes.

I received a sample of this from Ellen. The aroma is very enjoyable. I like Jasmine and along with the other ingredients give it a tropical air. Which is nice when It’s cold like it’s been. Before looking it up on the website I wondered if it was a lung ching blend. My experience with chinese greens is not much. It’s light. The Jasmine is subtle. Lung Ching is a little bit light bodied for me to begin with(I like full-bodied blacks, Pu-Erhs, and Oolongs) but this is pretty good.
