Yeah, so the first thing I want to say is unless you intentionally want the heat and cinnamon blast of Harney’s Cinnamon Spice, remove the bag after steeping. This will hold the cinnamon to a responsible level. This also has ginger in it, and although I can’t taste it, I am pretty sure it is helping build that awesome spicy blast.
Now if this stopped with the spice it could get boring in a hurry. That is where the orange fits in nicely. It adds a citrus zing. It also makes this very sweet. Do not add sugar until you taste. Even my Splenda monkey said, “Nope, not needed”, after tasting. I see no sugar or stevia in the ingredients. I don’t know how, except the orange, it is just sweet.
Basically, this is a teabag full of Redhots with an orange twist.
Looks like most of the reviews on this are a couple years old. Most complained about the lack of matcha and the sweetness. Greanted, the name is confusing, matcha is the last ingredient, green tea the first. On the other hand, does anyone really expect a tea bag to be able to hold matcha? Well, not after I thought about it. The sweetness is from licorice root and stevia (I know almost as hated as hibiscus).
The dry bag has a vanilla orange scent. The steeped tea smells like root beer to me. The taste is orange creamsicle with a ginger finish. Personally, I like the sweetness. I like the creamsicle, and I like the light ginger bite. It is like drinking sugary orange soda without the calories. I would not want this everyday but find it kind of a fun drink. If I had another bag I would try it iced because I think it would be pretty neat that way.
Probably available at your Walmart. I’m going against the flow and giving a thumbs up for this bagged tea.
Yep, its a tea bag. The however is there is 2.25g/bag. For reference Twinings has 2g. Stash generally has 1.7g and the last Republic of Tea I tried was a piddly 1.33g. This makes a nice milk chocolaty mug. I can’t single out the other ingredients except the chilis. I love hot and spicy but this really isn’t. After you sip chocolate the end sip has a warm glow. Definitely not melt your face. Just a little warmth. I left the bag in the mug and it never became bitter or overly strong. Is it the best tea ever? Of course not, but I did enjoy it. If you like a little heat. this is a good everyday bagged tea.
Two bucks for something to wake me up on my way to classes? I think yes.
I needed a bag that can be easily oversteep, and last time I had this, it was spicy, sweet and chocolaty. I know that the company is under new management, and honestly, the older version was better because you could see the chocolate powder diffuse into the cup. The older version also had a stronger presence of rose. This time, it doesn’t have the same type of chocolate flavoring and not quite as good, though it’s still sweet and spicy on its own.
This is by no means the best chocolate tea I’ve had (it’s going to be hard to beat LP’s Dark Chocolate Oolong), but something cheap and forgivable in steeping that I need while traveling.

I totally hear you about having cheaper teas in your collection for when you are busy. For me, It’s cheaper (although, still loose leaf) green teas I can steep in my timolino while getting ready for work in the morning and then drink “mindlessly” while I’m at work without feeling bad about not savouring the flavour.
I love this tea… I feel like this is something you could give to someone who proclaims to hate tea, and they would still like it. In fact I have made coworkers try this and everyone has liked it. It is spicy though, so beware of that. I personally could dump cinnamon and ginger into most coffee or tea I drink, so my spiciness in drink tolerance may be a bit higher than most. I find I do not need to sweeten this tea, at all, which is also very nice. Great for when it’s a little chilly outside. A coworker one time said it smells like Christmas in a cup, just that good, warm, spicy, homey kind of feel. Love it, keep several boxes on hand at all times! I steep it a while, so the spiciness really develops. I don’t find it becomes bitter with the additional time, whatsoever.

My son had Cub Scouts last night and I didn’t really have time to steep tea for my timolino to take with me. I decided I could take a moment to throw a bag of this in my timolino and go with it. This was the tea that made me interested in flavored teas. I had never had anything like it before.. Flavorful, spicy, sweet. I have always been picky about tea, didn’t drink anything flavored, it was black or C.Seasonings Sleepytime. I was never interested in flavored varieties, hot or cold, but found I loved chai mixes. Maybe that’s why this one struck a cord with me. Much like a chai, but I wouldn’t call it that. It opened my eyes that there were things I might be missing. I googled tea and found Steepster and all of you wonderful folks.. So glad I did! I have learned so much and tried some things I never would have, my range of teas that I will whole heatedly pick up and try without wondering how it’s going to taste or if I’ll like it has opened up vastly… And I’m one that would often have chosen a favorite to avoid disappointment.
I have to say I still enjoy this one, I like both the regular and decaf versions. Strangely, as strong as it is, I love to put it in my thermos or timolino and just leave it there to steep until I’m done. Done that way it gets very rich, spicy, quite sweet. I’m still unsure if they put stevia in this one or if the sweetness Gomes from the spices. Glad to find I still enjoy it and can put it in a container of choice and run out the door..simple goodness. Although I don’t know that I would drink it everyday.
Today is the first day this week we are hoping school will be in session. They have canceled all the other days due to extreme cold and bad driving conditions. Right now school has been delayed 2 hours and we haven’t heard anything more. I now the secondary roads a terribly slick but I think the school administration is ready to get the kids back to school too. I had to take my son to a doctors appointment with me yesterday because of the closing.. Not something I like to do. I’ve been having pain down by my ovary and up my back. They tested for urinary infection and that was fine so I’m expecting a call for a CT scan. It’s a little unnerving not knowing what is causing you pain. I’ve kind of out life on hold today waiting for the phone call. Lots to do, but ready to leave for testing if they say “come in”.

Taste: This tea was actually a recommendation by a family member. I was on the lookout for something new since I haven’t had tea in a long time. I was also drawn to the name of this tea how could tea from a tea bag possibly be already sweet? So I decided to give it a try & I must say it’s one of my favorites! Since buying it the first time a month or so ago I have already brought another box. The aroma is cinnamon with a spice kick to it & the flavor to match cinnamon spice with a nice sweetness. This tea could also replace a sweet treat imo. Another plus is that it’s caffeine free, I can enjoy it at night without having to worry if I’ll have trouble falling asleep. Steeping I find that 3 minutes is good for a cup, 4 minutes the flavor can be too strong. The bag last for about 2 steeps with the second one being on the lighter side. As for the downside I read it’s best to avoid tea with natural flavors but this one taste soo good, I know that’s most likely where the sweetness comes from because all other ingredients listed aren’t sweet.Overall I like this tea a lot!

I found a single box of this on clearance at the grocery store the other day and decided to chance it because it sounded fun and was half-price.
I’m rather liking it. It isn’t something I’d want all the time, though. I’m usually a bit leery of chocolate beverages that aren’t hot chocolate, because they usually just taste like watery fake chocolate. This tea seems to be a step up from that. I like that when I sip it, the cocoa bursts out first, and then as the sip lingers, the chili jumps into the picture later, and then fades to a light tingle for a few seconds.
It kind of reminds me of a mocha chai, but without all the heavy spices. I’m not a big fan of spiced teas, because a little spice goes such a long way, and most of the time chai is just spice overload to me, especially with the cardamom. This is better, because there is less spice. You get the little kick, but it isn’t cloying.
Sweet taste, pepper kick
Won’t end chocolate craving-
Sip the hot liquid
So this is my last try at a worktime pick-me-up from random swap teas. Maybe it’s because I was so ready to be disappointed, but I rather like this one. At first sip, it reminds me of wintertime-hot cocoa packets dumped into too much hot water. But the aftertaste curls cocoa around my tongue in a lingering way the watery cocoa did not. I’m not sure whether I like or dislike the pepper kick. In one way, it cuts through the water and adds another layer of not watery hot cocoa. But, it lingers long after the chocolate. I’m not sure I enjoy the lasting taste of pepper in my mouth. However, if I keep drinking, I won’t have to worry about that for awhile. :)
Flavors: Cocoa, Pepper
My absolute favorite tea. I loved making it as either a hot or iced tea. Unfortunately the company has redesigned the formula for this tea and it seems it doesn’t live up to its predecessor. I’m enjoying my last tea bag and hoping to find another tea similar to its like in the future.
Flavors: Cinnamon
this was yummy! since in my experience, Good Earth has quite the knack for packing a punch with spice, i used only 1 bag of this & added 1 bag of Tazo Awake english breakfast to give it more of a black tea kick.
this Chai came as a surprise. since Tabby gave such a glowing review to Sweet Chai of Mine, which is sort of along these lines (similar spices et al.), i figured the spice in this wouldn’t be offensive or brash, and they weren’t! this was even light on clove…..hallelujah!
what this does have is a nice chai profile (in my opinion) with a solid sweet element and yummy caramel and banana flavoring. i could taste the banana, and it was actually delicious (quite unusual flavor pairing for chai, but fun!) i don’t so much get caramel, but it’s there.
though cinnamon is an ingredient, it doesn’t overpower the blend, and neither does any other spice for that matter. it’s really a nice balance!
with (soy) milk & brown sugar this is perfect. i added much less sugar than i normally would because this is already pre-sweetened with Stevia (which i’m happy to report i couldn’t taste!)
Flavors: Anise, Cinnamon, Spices, Sweet
Yuck. Disgusting. I can only taste the stevia. It’s like drinking sugar water with a twist of something vaguely fruity.
PASS. If I want a Sprite, I’ll crack open a can of it. I don’t want my tea to taste like it.
Wow, I’m surprised to be the first to review this tea! I picked it up on a whim when I was visiting the inlaws in Ohio. I liked the packaging and the thought of self-sweetening chai, even though it involved stevia leaf. That stuff is a little off-putting to me. I don’t like how it lingers in my mouth, sweetening the very air.
What I absolutely love about this tea is its aroma. It’s mouth-watering. It smells like butterscotch or butter rum and vanilla, with a hint of cinnamon and clove. It’s absolutely heavenly. Like a decadent ice cream dessert. The flavor isn’t entirely as strong, but it doesn’t disappoint. Very butterscotchy for a chai! It’s not heavy on other traditional chai spices like ginger or cardamom, but there’s a nice note of vanilla.
Now, about the self-sweetening aspect. It really is naturally sweet, but the sweetness sort of comes along in the finish. I guess I’m not tasting the stevia until the exhale. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just a sensation I’m not used to. I might be tempted to add just a little more sweetener, but I like my chai on the sweeter side, so that might just be me.

Picked this one up last night, and the new packaging is quite vague about what the flavor notes are. Loving black teas anyway, I picked it up for something new to try.
I’ll admit, I’m underwhelmed. I was excited when I opened the pouch and could smell lemon and something floral, and I figured the warmer black tea notes would come out when it brewed. They did not. I tried it first with nothing in it, then with a small bit of raw honey with very little noticeable difference. It’s a very light kind of tea. I suppose some would think it’s refreshing, but when I rely on my morning cuppa to kick me like a mule into wakefulness, this just didn’t stack up.
It might be nice in summertime, drank cold. I think with a mint leaf or two it would be lovely. I’ll try it again when the weather gets warmer.

My computer seems to be on the verge of dying, after nearly five fun-filled years of me writing tons of text on it. The screen keeps flashing white, and I just lost a lengthy tasting note on this tea, a box of which I found while continuing the seemingly endless excavation of my apartment as I prepare to move hopefully this coming Sunday. I’ll attempt to reconstruct what I just wrote and lost.
I recall always having found something slightly discordant about Organic Good Night, which is of course why I still have some around. I bought a box of six boxes from Amazon, but it was never my first choice for pre-bedtime brew. Something about the lavender and the coriander—or was it the hawthorne?—always struck me as a bit odd. I suspect that sarsaparilla may be among the “natural flavors” mentioned in the ingredient list. I must not have been alone in finding this brew a bit less inviting than some of the usual bedtime suspects, since this blend appears to have been discontinued, as it is no longer found at the Good Earth website.
Interestingly, the company taster notes don’t really mention the ingredients which I notice. They do say something about a “calming floral bouquet”, so maybe that includes lavender and hawthorne. But they also mention lime and apple, which are not a part of my experience of this infusion at all. Maybe I just don’t know what tasting notes are, as the list at Steepster is bizarrely abridged and—shall I be frank? (quoi d’autre?!)— arbitrary and tends to omit everything which I actually notice. I mean, why isn’t almond on the list? Or salt? Why cannot chamomile and lavender be tasting notes, I wonder? Seriously, who wrote the list? Why do I have to taste apple when I am tasting chamomile, when in reality I taste chamomile???? Is it allowed to taste chamomile as a note if it is not among the ingredients, I wonder? I mean, are tasting notes always supposed to be of substances not listed as ingredients? So if I can claim to taste spinach in sencha, then why can I not claim to taste chamomile in a honeybush blend? (As an aside: the “suggest a flavor” function has never worked on my computer for some reason… Does it work for anyone else, I wonder?)
Anyway, of late I’ve been exploring lavender and chamomile blends, of which this is one, except that here there are many other ingredients as well. Tonight I find this brew much less discordant than my memory of it, and its sheer oddity is the reason why I still have some of this creation still hanging around these parts though it cannot be purchased anywhere—at least as far as I can tell. After training on some hardhitting lavenders, Organic Good Night now seems mild to me—even somewhat harmonious!
Bonne nuit.

Jason wrote somewhere in the thread about the new tea page something about them not having actually turned that on yet.
Thank you, Angrboda! I’ve been trying to figure this out. It makes any report of notes rather abridged and in some ways inaccurate…
There’s nothing bad i can say about this tea! I went to the store with plans to but straight matcha but it was 50 dollars and not in the budget for me, right now. This tea has matcha in it, lo at the bottom of the list but it has a handful of other healthy and yummy ingredients, too. Plus, it was only 5 dollars. It is not bitter like green tea normally is. I appreciate that it comes presweetened with stevia and it is not too sweet. Delish!
Preparation
My sweetie likes lemongrass and I thought I’d had this herbal tea once when I was at his house so I picked up a box recently. It’s made with decaf green tea, lemongrass and various other herbs. When you put the brewed tea to your nose it smells a bit like lemon pledge, eww. To me the flavor is just so over the top, sickening sweet. They definitely overdid the stevia in this blend. I wish tea companies would stop doing this. Most of us have access to sugar or sweetener of our choice so why not let people sweeten to taste?
It’s kind of rare that I don’t want to finish a cup of tea but I can barely get started with this one. Ick.
Preparation
I’m usually easy when it comes to tea, but I just couldn’t get through this one. It was overly sweet unlike any other tea I’ve tried likely due to the stevia and had an overwhelming chemical after taste that sticks to the back of your mouth. I wanted to like this tea but just couldn’t get past the after taste. On a positive note it did smell nice.
Preparation
It is rare for me to reach for the Good Earth functional teas, though a few errant filter bags are still fluttering about in my “maybe I’ll drink this some day” chest. Yesterday evening, however, was such an occasion, as I had prepared a shredded raw yellow squash salad, tasting it along the way as I added: EVOO, True Lemon, diced red onion, fresh parsley leaves, cracked black pepper, white wine vinegar, and finally organic aduki beans. Obviously, this is bound to be a challenging salad for all but the “raw food only” crowd, to which I do not belong.
My tummy began rumbling and I began asking myself such questions as: why did no one ever serve raw squash salad when I was growing up? Yes, there’s probably a reason for that. Some percentage of human beings are probably completely and utterly unable to digest such veggies raw. Could I be a member of that class?
No matter, I brewed up a glass of Tea for Digestion, and shortly thereafter, I was feeling much, much better. I still have a large bowl of the salad in my fridge. Perhaps I should let it marinate a bit longer before trying again. Maybe just a couple forkfuls next time…
In conclusion, this is a functional tea comprising primarily anise seed, fennel seed, and licorice root. It works, but you obviously must like (love?) the taste and scent of licorice, else this blend may exacerbate rather than ameliorate your condition!
Flavors: Anise, Fennel Seed, Licorice
Preparation
I was craving licorice this evening and happened upon a bag of Good Earth Tea for Digestion. It appears to be one of the last of a collection of Good Earth herbal infusions which I had acquired a while back. I had purchased several boxes, including Tea for Flu, Tea for Colds, Tea for Tension, and this one.
Tea for Digestion offers a triple dose of licorice flavor, featuring not only licorice root (which is pretty common in herbal teas), but also anise seed and fennel seed. These blends are all 100% natural and based on recipes from “Father Kuenzle”, an herbalist from Switzerland. So now Good Earth produces them, boasting of 100 years of success in providing “relief to European families.”
This blend has a strong fennel flavor, much stronger than the licorice (which is the fourth ingredient) or the anise (which is the second ingredient). Basically you must appreciate the scent and taste of fennel seed to be able to stomach this brew. I like it, so I do.
Does this blend alleviate indigestion? That would be an added benefit, though I myself have primarily consumed Tea for Digestion as a source of fennel/anise/licorice flavor in a hot beverage. I think that I really prefer licorice to fennel, so I probably won’t buy this one again.
;p I’ve never cared much for this one. Once year a friend gave me 3 boxes for my birthday. I didn’t have the heart to tell her.
I actually enjoy this one occasionally. Yes, it tastes exactly like liquid red hots candy.
I’ve had this Sweet & Spicy but only the herbal tea one (didn’t know they made it w/black tea). It’s a tea I enjoy~
