Tea of the morning and it’s a sipdown. I’m all done with this yummy tea from Della Terra but am looking at buying some holiday teas right now :)

This has a sweet pumpkin flavor and is pretty goo with a bit of stevia, this is the 2nd time I have purchased it from Della Terra. See previous notes for more details.

Tea of the morning here. Perhaps this isn’t one to drink early in the morning – but then again why not? :)

It’s nice with a touch of brown sugar and some soymilk!

Tea of the morning here!
Somehow I was in the mood for something slightly decadent this morning and I love the flavor of this one. You’d think I might be more in the mood for something summery but it’s cold and foggy here today. ;)

I am TIRED after going to a 3 hour long yoga and dance session yesterday but it was FUN!

Tealizzy

Ah, SF in the summer!

Terri HarpLady

Now I want to make a pumpkin pie…or maybe a sweet potato pie…with a pecan crust. I wonder if I could make mini-pecan crusted sweet potato or pumpkin pies in my silicone cupcake cups, & then freeze each on (that I don’t eat) for some occasional tea time treat…
Or I could just drink a cup of Bilbo brew…& pretend…

Yum… I am drinking this with the cookie that Hesper June sent me, perfect for dunking! This is one of the best pumpkin teas I have tried so far, it’s yummy! And laundry is getting done… hurrah

Indigobloom

oh no I forgot to do laundry! haha. Looks like I’ll be busy tomorrow :P

Hesper June

Biscoff cookies are my newest addiction. This tea sounds like a lovely tea to dunk the cookie in!

TeaBrat

I need to get some of those cookies. :)

Hesper June

Just wait till try Biscoff Spread…OMG! you just wanna eat it out of the jar with a spoon!

gmathis

OK, the pastry discussion sucked me in here. Biscoff cookies…stuff you eat from a jar…curiosity reigns! (Off to Google Biscoff)

TeaBrat

Really? I just looked up the spread and I’m not sure I would like it, what do you put it on?

Hesper June

Well, you can use it like you would peanut butter or nutella.
I love to use it in frosting recipes.

I got this in a fall sampler pack I ordered from Della Terra Teas – Azzrian this is all your fault!

Anyway I am usually not a huge fan of dessert teas, somehow they seem to be too strong or they miss the mark somehow. I was pretty impressed with this. I decided to add a touch of soymilk and turbinado sugar to bring out the sweetness. It’s slightly pumpkin-y, nutmeggy and brown sugar-y. I swear there is something about this that really tastes like a pie. I think I might need more when this sample runs out. It’s scrumptious and smells good too!

I won this in one of Della Terra’s Facebook giveaways – they are the best!

This is the second time I’ve tried this, but I held off logging it the first time around.

The aroma in the pouch is astounding. It smells like pure maple syrup. There are little blocks of what look like wood. Curious, I picked one out and ate it – it’s maple candy! Yum.

Maple’s not my favorite flavor, so the first time I steeped it, I did 5 minutes. The liquor was a slightly murky brown-gold. The smell was still maple, but much less strong. The taste was much the same as the smell. It didn’t taste like much of anything, unfortunately.

This time, I steeped for 10 minutes. It smells stronger and tastes more like maple. Still, though, I’m finding that the tea itself is lacking in the taste department. It smells really authentic, but I don’t really want to put maple syrup into the tea to sweeten it. I also used ~2tsp/8-10oz, so I don’t think I’m under-steeping it.

This smells so good. I love the smell of Earl Grey Creme … possibly even more than the smell of Earl Grey without the creme… the creamy notes just meld so beautifully with the sharp notes of the bergamot.

It tastes good too. It is sweet and tangy. The vanilla tones are almost fluffy and they come together so perfectly with the bergamot that is no longer sharp, just pleasantly citrus-y and tart. The black tea plays the supporting role, providing a solid background of flavor to the stronger bergamot and vanilla. It all works very well together. It’s very, very tasty!

Received this one in a swap with AwkwardSoul amoung MANY others! :)
First sip: light and chocolatey, leaves a bit of of a spicy taste in your mouth.
Very good, though I don’t know that is will find it’s way into my permanent collection.

My last sample from Della Terra! Thankfully I have an order from them in the mail, though (perhaps sadly) I didn’t add this to my order. It smells soooo good, but I have a caramel apple tea from Culinary that I enjoy. This, however, is quite different!

I’ve found that Della’s teas brew a little weak, so I used my whole sample (which was probably good for 2 small cups) on one mug. It’s such a pretty color, just like a shiny red apple! I added sugar and a splash of milk since, hey, it’s a dessert tea! Granted, I made this for the bf and only had a sip myself. It’s tasty, caramel-y and with a strong apple flavor followed by a hint of candy goodness. It’s not a complex or delicate cup, but definitely fixes sugar cravings!

I like Culinary’s apple teas, too. They’re actually appley, instead of just hinting at it.

Alphakitty

Yeah, I find the apple lacking in a lot of teas but Culinary gets it spot on! This one was really apple-y as well. I do think I prefer Culinary’s caramel apple to this one, though.

FINALLY actually enjoying a cup of tea! Yes I must be getting better! Finally thank goodness!
I wanted something vanilla but still a bit weak to get too far into my cupboard to find the one I was looking for also from Della Terra but marshmallow – close enough and it is SO SO GOOD!
Its nice to have a cup and be able to taste and enjoy it again. This whole past week I have felt like an appendage was gone.

Veronica

Good to hear that you are feeling better!

Ysaurella

Nice to see you back Azzrian

Hesper June

So glad you are feeling better!

TheTeaFairy

oh, what a relief it must be for you! So glad you are better Azzrian… I have some S’mores on its way, with so many people raving about it, I’m getting quite anxious!

Indigobloom

oh dear, to not drink tea… you must have been seriously out :(
Glad you are on the mend xx

LiberTEAS

I am glad to hear that you’re getting better. Get as much rest as possible, I found that made me feel better faster than anything. That and a good cup of tea, of course!

Della Terra Teas remind me of Butiki Teas in many ways. Neither company seems to be trying to shovel a flavor down your throat and let the subtle nuisances shine through.
That is not to say that this tea is lacking in flavor!

This tea has a lovely S’mores flavor that sneaks up on you and goes POP!

The chocolate is there but nicely balanced and not trying to fight for the forefront or take over the show, the marshmallow totally pops especially in the aftertaste, and there is almost this cotton candy like sweetness in the lingering effect that sort of gives off the graham cracker flavor.

This is very delightful indeed! Excellent as it cools to room temp so I am sure it would be amazing iced!

I keep getting surprised by Della Terra with each new tea I try and I totally respect their customer service and they way they have added suggestions and made changes for us picky steepsters!
:)

Babble

I agree. I love all the giveaways they have and how active they have been in the community.

A big thank you to Della Terra Teas for including a HUGE one ounce sample in my order!
Well – my entire home smells delicious right now. This is one of those teas that is as good for making your home smelly yummy as it is to drink!
I think the strawberry flavor is delightful!
Its juicy!
There is a thin mouthfeel to this tea which is unexpected of a chocolate tea but the strawberry really shines through all around the tongue! Its sweet but tart too.
As for the chocolate – I would say that it is in the middle for me. I am a real chocolate snob and I do get a little bit of that chocolate flavoring but its not bad at all – its not AS good as some I have had but at least its not overly fakey tasting – although I wonder if the flavoring had been left out and only chocolate chunks/chips, were in it if it would be even better.
This is really refreshing and I am dying to make a cold brew out of it!
Good work Della Terra! Keep the amazing flavors coming!

TeaBrat

I just placed an order with them and it’s all your fault! :)

Quick one: Received this in the second wave of samples from Della Terra Teas in their new packaging (thicker plastic, better smell blocking!) This one reminds me of David’s Tea’s Oh Canada, but the aroma is a little different. I accidentally steeped it for 8 minutes, an I used 1.5 heaping teaspoons to get serious flavour.

I get maple in the taste with a hint of rooibos behind it, like the syrup is coming straight from the tree. There is a hint of roastiness at the end that makes me think of melting marshmallows – I’m loving this! Thanks again, DTT!

KeenTeaThyme

Mmm, maple. Is it crazy to consider moving to Canada and/or applying for dual citizenship because you’re in love with maple? ;)

Sil

Keen…absolutely not.

Uniquity

Or you could come for the general awesomeness of Canada! : )

But the syrup is pretty good too!

Sipdown! 210/365!

Used to quite like this one, but it was time for it to go. The coconut is on the verge of soapy, where it still tastes creamy, but your mouth tells you that something’s a little off. One more bag out of the house!

Made a travel mug of of the “reblend” of this one yesterday. I think the flavour is definitely better (Raritea/Indigobloom, if you guys took some of the previous version, you’re welcome to have a sample of this one as well to try), but it’s still not my favourite. I think it’s because it’s more of an amaretto-almond flavour instead of nutty almond, and I’m not the biggest amaretto fan. It also comes across as a bit thin, although as I said, I think the flavour in terms of the chocolate and creamy coconut is better. This blend also contains considerably fewer coconut flakes, so flavour improvements could also be the result of an increased proportion of tea leaves in the dry tea.

… yeah, I felt like I was writing a part of the discussion section of my thesis, there. Sorry…!

I need to try the first sample, maybe I should do them side by side heh

I should do that too.

Hmm. This was tea #2 for the morning, in a thermos borrowed from my roommate. I quite generously leafed my cup of tea, but still, the flavour is very weak. There’s definitely a coconutty flavour, some chocolate, and a sweet amaretto-y/marzipan almond flavour, but the tea base is just so, so weak here. Perhaps it’s because I had three flavourfully-based blacks this morning (third infusion of Verdant’s Laoshan Black, second infusion of Verdant’s Mi Lan Dancong Black, and 52 teas’ Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake) that I’m finding it extra noticeable, but I was kind of disappointed. Downgrading the rating a bit. I really want to love this tea, but I think it needs a bit more background for that to happen.

Thanks to Della Terra Teas for a generous sample of this tea! It’s absolutely loaded with coconut, which got me pretty excited – hoping it tastes as good as I expect!

Although this tea contains almond, I wasn’t expecting the aroma that I got when opening the bag, which was very amaretto-y/sweet, like marzipan. I was anticipating more of a nutty aroma. Steeped, the tea smells quite similar. At this point I was pretty worried that it would just taste much like DavidsTea’s Amaretto, which I just gave away to my now ex-roommate as it really wasn’t a favourite. However, the coconut and the black tea base really transform the amaretto flavour into tasting much more like a macaroon. I almost feel as if the black base here tastes more like a dark oolong, solid and a bit bakey, which works perfectly. At three minutes, there’s not a hint of astringency or bitterness. The coconut adds a significant dose of amazing creaminess – probably the most deliciously coconutty tea I have tried!

The only downside is that I used 1.5 tsp for about an 8 oz. cup and kind of wish the tea would be a bit stronger – I suspect I’m finding it a touch weak simply because much of the volume is taken up by coconut, which adds creaminess but not a lot of depth, a quality provided moreso by the black tea. Might try a longer infusion or more tea next time, since I have at least enough tea for 4 or so more cups!

ETA: Re-steep in less water (5 min, near boiling) isn’t great. Kind of creamy, a bit chocolatey. Not even much almond. Definitely wouldn’t hold up to a third.

I’m finding this to be the case with a lot of the della terra teas. Really enjoy the flavours but they’re muted…not as strong as I would really love.

Kittenna

I have one other from them to try, a pumpkin one. I now have like 4 different pumpkin teas to compare, lol. One from Butiki, DT, Della Terra, and iHeartTeas. We’ll see how it holds up. Perhaps an exp’t for tonight (or a cooler day…)

Sil

Let me know heh

I received this one as a surprise second batch of samples from Della Terra Teas in their snazzy new packaging. The new pouches are a thicker black plastic which eliminate the smell contamination I experienced with the old ones. Thumbs up!

Unfortunately, one of my picky tea tastes is that I don’t like pumpkin. Actually, i don’t like pumpkin ever. I will carve it for jack o lanterns, but that’s about it. No pie, no seeds, nadda! So, I got the beau to drink it, and the following is his review:

“The tea was good, it is much better then the David’s tea pumpkin chai! The cinnamon was subtle so it did not overpower and it actually tasted like pumpkin pie. I only steeped it for like four mins for fear of over powering cinnamon so it was a little weak in flavour but the next time I think I will steep it a little longer to see if the taste is stronger and/or better. I would give it a 88 out of 100 and I boiled the water for it since it is black.”

There you have it, folks!

Oh my … This tea was all that I had hoped for. It really is reminiscent of a campfire s’more. The marahallow and graham cracker with a hint of chocolate, this was truly the perfect blend. Could drink this everyday, already ordered more!

This is excellent!
Sorry purists – I added a little rock sugar – made all the flavors POP!
The aromas and flavors are woodsy pu with vanilla and strawberry – mango – floral – full succulent mouthfeel – and its SO pretty to look at!
Just placed an order with Della Terra because this and the Mellow Mango Peach are delicious!
Can’t wait to try more of their new blends coming out really soon as well!
YUMMMMM

Alphakitty

This one is SO GOOD, I have a second cup cold brewing in the fridge already.

Azzrian

Oh let me know how it is cold brewed!

TheTeaFairy

I’ve never added anything to my tea up untill recently, I agree that for some teas, adding just a little ( at least fo my taste) will bring out burst of flavors… I guess it’s good to experiment and just have fun sometimes!

Azzrian

I too prefer my teas straight – I never add to teas from teavivre or mandala, or verdant for example, but a lot of the teas that are mixes and blends like this one I will if I feel they would pop. It is good to have fun you are right. :)

I agree with Emilie here. This could be so much more than it steeps up to be. It is so so pretty, smells amazing, and has so many pretty elements in it and is fun to look at – like potpourri! Once steeped I get a lot of Hibiscus flavors – its tart – not too tart to drink though so that is a good thing.
I get the citrus which is nice.
Cinnamon, which is not over done so its very nice – at least it is not covering up the other flavors.
Not sure that the green tea is really contributing any actual flavor here.
The vanilla is too subtle I fear.
Even the black base gets a little covered up but that is okay it does give some depth to the mouthfeel.
I do feel this one could go back to the blending room and be tweaked a little – its close – really close – but just not quite there for me yet.

Della Terra Teas

We are working on this blend. Perhaps even a renaming!
