I’m finishing my sample from my Fall try me pack. The tea has a lovely maple taste, and considering how picky I am with rooibos, I was very surprised at how much I liked it. I’d even go as far as saying that I would reorder it. That’s right it’s a rooibos I’d buy again!

It’s a funny thing how rooibos can either be so extremely good or so very awful. I’ve been experimenting a little more with it lately.

canadianadia 12 years ago

I agree, as a rule I don’t like the woodiness of rooibos, but I don’t dislike them enough to stop trying them altogether. Thankfully sometimes there are teas like this one that reward my willingness to keep trying them. :)

Fjellrev 12 years ago

I’m the same way with rooibos. If it’s good enough to repurchase, that says A LOT about it. :)

Sipdown! Thanks Sil!

This one definitely needs to… not be underleafed. It’s definitely sweet and mapley, but lacking a bit of something. Ah well. Still good, just could be better!

Also, I’m annoyed at myself because I realized just before brewing this that I never did try mixing this or Oh Canada (DT) with a lapsang souchong… and now I am out of maple rooibos. I think I will attempt to acquire some in a swap for just this purpose (and then compare it to my maple lapsang from Tealux!)

This tisane is for maple lovers only! Seriously! If you don’t like maple, don’t even bother. Because this is – essentially – a thinned maple syrup.

YUM!

This is a yummy, warm, maple-y delicious rich cup. It is sweet and I’m loving every sip. But really, unless you’re mad about maple, you really shouldn’t bother with it, because it is almost like pure maple syrup, only thinner.

ETA: I forgot to mention when I was writing this, because I was so caught up in all its maple-y goodness … don’t forget to enter in the Della Terra Teas contest that’s going on at our blog right now: http://sororiteasisters.com/2012/11/23/the-season-of-giveaways-take-2/ But you better hurry … time’s running out!

Quick one: Received this in the second wave of samples from Della Terra Teas in their new packaging (thicker plastic, better smell blocking!) This one reminds me of David’s Tea’s Oh Canada, but the aroma is a little different. I accidentally steeped it for 8 minutes, an I used 1.5 heaping teaspoons to get serious flavour.

I get maple in the taste with a hint of rooibos behind it, like the syrup is coming straight from the tree. There is a hint of roastiness at the end that makes me think of melting marshmallows – I’m loving this! Thanks again, DTT!

Mmm, maple. Is it crazy to consider moving to Canada and/or applying for dual citizenship because you’re in love with maple? ;)

Sil 13 years ago

Keen…absolutely not.

Uniquity 13 years ago

Or you could come for the general awesomeness of Canada! : )

But the syrup is pretty good too!

Liquid maple!! you were so right Sil! Thanks for the sample :)
I do love me some maple syrup and this hits the spot.
Definitely a love or hate it tea, and I love it! although one cup is more than enough, as I am starting to get that thick mouth coated feeling as if I downed a shot glass of maple. Ha!

Sil, I say we have a tea cooking day next time! Thoughts?

Kittenna 12 years ago

You are owed?? (And I’m jumping in to say that I totally agree if I’m invited ;))

Indigobloom 12 years ago

A friend of mine said he would buy me two samplers for xmas but they were out of a few that I wanted to try… only now I’ve got some of those in samples…

Kittenna 12 years ago

Sil 12 years ago

Here’s a sample from Della Terra that I opened but evidently never logged…?

Anyway I thought I would brew some up tonight. This is definitely good if you like maple, it smells very wet and maple=y. I think it was a good call to mix this with honeybush. It’s definitely really on the sweet side. It’s better than I thought it would be, but I don’t think I appreciate the flavor of maple enough to really get too enthusiastic about it. Just not for me…

Waaaah, sad sipdown. This first came my way from Short Sorceress. I picked up more from BrewTEAlly Sweet‘s stash sale and now that’s all gone too :( This tea really grew on me as a lovely maple dessert brew. It will be missed.

I bought this because I figured it would be like DTs Oh Canada!

It smells like mapley goodness. I only bought 1oz because it’s a Rooibos. I love the leaves in the tea, so cute.

This tea is deliciously maple. It’s like when you would go on a field trip to the sugar bush and they’d pour the fresh maple syrup on the snow, then you’d twirl Tue hardening syrop onto a popsicle stick. Ahhh memories. I wish I had some real maple syrup to add to this, this should he an indulgent treat.

You get a bit of a woodsy taste with the maple (that’s the part that reminds me the most of the twirling syrup on the popsicle stick.). And the best part… no yucky Rooibos.

I bet this would be delicious with milk and would probably taste like maple fudge. Another win from my Della Terra order.

Sipdown! Goodbye autumn leaves, and hello summer!

This was decent but I think I’m going to stick with the black tea based Maple Seduction from Steam- the sweetness isn’t as cloying there, which is great. This, and the version from David’s, are a bit much for me, unfortunately. Neither rooibos or maple are a particular favourite of mine, although I enjoy them in small doses.

I’ll have to pick up some maple rooibos another time, though- I keep forgetting I want to try mixing it with lapsang souchong.

Backlogging!

So this tea? It’s pretty delicious, but it’s too sweet for me. It really is like a cup of maple syrup, dilluted down a bit. I also sometimes wish Della Terra would get rid of the colourful candy bits they put into their teas. They often don’t add to the flavour and just mess up my brewing baskets.

If you enjoy maple syrup and sweet teas though, this is a good tea. Just a bit much for me :)
