I taste the orange and some nuttiness. It’s not the most unique flavor combination, but it’s decent cold. It’s a refreshing combination, but there’s something I can’t put my finger on that I’d prefer tweaked a bit. Maybe I need to underleaf this one for my preferences. I just feel like I’ve had better versions of this tea.

Sip Down

I wasn’t ready for Fall, but this tea is getting me close to those cooler days, when the leaves change, and the hoodies find themselves getting pulled from the further depths of the closet. I do my best to avoid rushing the precious little time I’m granted in life, but I can’t deny my love of Autumn.

I always think of sweet potato fries with the brown sugar butter restaurants add as a condiment when sipping this tea. I dig it.

Flavors: Brown Sugar, Sweet Potatoes

Leafhopper

Fall can come any time. I’m tired of this hot weather!

MadHatterTeaReview

I don’t mind the heat, as long as there’s an option to use the AC lol

drank Iced Cappuccino by DAVIDsTEA

Cold Brew!

The last new cold brew of the year is here and it’s a flavour that I feel has been very, very long awaited. I mean, it’s kind of nuts to think that DT has been releasing cold brew tea collections for more than five years and we’re only just now releasing a coffee inspired flavour!

In terms of taste, I would call this most comparable to our Vanilla Cappuccino tea but there are a few differences. I find this blend a lot less sweet and creamy, though it does have some sweetness to it due to the presence of chocolate. It’s not a super chocolate-y profile, but that inclusion does sort of nod to more of the original mocha inspiration during development. Overall it’s very smooth with a coffee-forward flavour I find complimentary with the malty black tea base.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I really like this iced! My favourite ever fake flavour is grape. It’s always the best flavour for candy, soda, etc. This doesn’t have much sweetness but has a crisp acidity to it. It’s good brewed strong (cold brew for 40+ minutes or brew hot and pour over ice) but should be served cold imo. Fruity, without being chemically, and quite refreshing.

Flavors: Candy, Fruity, Grapes

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more 2 tsp 19 OZ / 550 ML

Ros got me excited for this tea, and it’s rare a DT meets that threshold. I steeped this up and it looks just like black coffee. The scent and taste were akin to a Tim Horton’s vanilla latte (reminding me of days long past when I first started university), which I was a bit disappointed by. My preference would be for a ‘clean’ coffee flavour as opposed to a flavoured coffee. There was a pretty distinct black pepper smell and taste at the end of the sip — this isn’t listed in the ingredients, so I have no idea why that came through. A also got the same black pepper, so it didn’t seem to be a figment of my imagination. I happily enjoy coffee without concern, so I’ll finish this off, but won’t repurchase. For those who like coffee and want to try a caffeine-free (and coffee-free) option, you may enjoy this.

Sip down/ Backlog from Advent
This reminds me of Frosted Flakes/ wheat cereal. Maybe I imagine it, though. Anyway, I thought I enjoyed this tea before, since it’s a sweeter version of Forever Nuts, but the last cup of this was mildly disappointing due to a lack of flavor. I could taste the light tartness from the almond, but the rest of the tea blend was missing. I blame the fact that this is older and there were only “bits” leftover for the last cup. If DavidsTea brings it back to their collection for the holidays, I’d buy it again and try the fresher version.

TTB tea! This is super buttery. It’s tasty with sugar and milk, though not as great as other milk oolongs I’ve tried. I did a cold resteep, which might have tasted even more buttery and nice than the first steep.

Hot, this tasted like almost nothing. When it cooled down, I could taste technically a flavor, but it was so light. It’s from a TTB, so maybe it’s old and it used to taste better?

Sip Down & Backlog

I cold brewed a lot of this during the weekend (i.e. the rest of the leaf). I attempted to like this on a few occasions, as a hot and cold tea. I wasn’t a fan…however, I let this sit for a while; at least for 6+ months. That’s fine since that time allowed this tea to settle and lose some of the overly tart notes I dislike with hibiscus. It settled into a nice ¬_earthy_ sweetness, which was bearable. I drank the 32 oz container from Saturday through Sunday morning. The only issue was the black tea base, I think, made it have a funky aftertaste—like a little bit malt, which didn’t match the tart/sweetness of the rest of the blend.

Sip Down & Backlog

I brewed the remainder of this on Monday. I made myself a massive mug with the remaining 4 tsp of PBC. I let this sit in the cup for 10 minutes and never took the sachet from the mug as I topped off the cuppa. I love this blend and it’s sad that the reception isn’t too high. I understand that the chocolate is weak, but hot dang does it taste peanut buttery! That’s the main event in a peanut butter cup, anyway. I love to dip a spoon into a jar now and then, whenever I have a sweet tooth. Not often, but probably more than most folks. This was a fairly good cup and would buy more.

I had a spoon of peanut butter this very morning. :D

I like to dip into a jar of peanut butter quite often, too!

There are perks to allowing teas to pile up…mostly that you always have an opportunity to rediscover something new or old. The plus side is that you have one last moment with that cup and can sit with it quietly, which in my case, wasn’t. I was driving 70 MPH on the highway, blasting death metal, so that my soul couldn’t become crushed by the weight of an in-office day. That, and I needed to pass the time on my hour drive into work.

After the tea steeped in the cup for 4 minutes, I sipped the tea. I made a mental note that there wasn’t anything special about it, however, it was still too hot to taste anything. I brought it along for the drive—for at that point, I simply needed the caffeine—and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. That is when I discovered that this tea is meant to reach near room (or car) temperatures.

Notes: Pecan pie or the chocolate rum cake we’d get at our madrigal concert I’d perform in during my days of singing in a local children’s chorus (I was 8-12, but that flavor will always be ingrained in my mind). This tea is meant to cooldown for the opportunity to experience the layers of burnt sugar and pecan notes! Too bad this is all there may ever be.

drank Cherry Blossom by DAVIDsTEA

If you DONT like that the typical cherry flavor this tea won’t be for you. Sick of comments commenting on that. Because we all know cherries naturally don’t taste like anything. if you do, then you should love this. If you like green tea ofc. I prefer it iced. Also very good hot. Add some agave to offset the natural bitterness of green tea. I hope they return this tea soon.

Sip down

I found an unopened bag of this in the sip down stash a week or two ago and decided it was time to open some of the teas which have sat a while. There was a hit of the creamy aroma from the milk oolong. I didn’t smell much of the jasmine green tea as I anticipated (milk oolong is typically an overpowering aroma though).

I brewed this as an iced tea on Saturday evening. I added 195F water + 4 steep time, over ice. The creaminess from the milk oolong was the predominant flavor, however, the jasmine green remained in the aftertaste. It was slightly bitter, although, it wasn’t bad. I think if there was more balance between the two teas, this tea would stand out a bit more. Quite the “middle of the road” blend for me.

Had one of these bad boys yesterday afternoon! I did have it lukewarm since I hadn’t chilled it in the fridge prior and I don’t actually have ice access at home, and the result of that was that some of the slightly more citrusy notes of the bergamot seemed a little bit stronger. However, the overall drink was still that really nicely balanced sweetness level with the rich, cream soda-like vanilla notes that I expect not just from this RTD but from the Cream of Earl Grey loose leaf tea in general too.

(But better chilled.)

Last but not least of the new RTD line is… Cream of Earl Grey!

I think that, of all the flavours, this is the one I imagine people might be the most apprehensive about. To be honest, I was apprehensive with the development too. I don’t know a ton of people who drink Earl Grey (or Earl Grey variants, like this one) cold and the idea of carbonating it definitely takes it a step further.

However, I am here to say that this flavour is a total surprise and delight. It’s so funny because during most of the development tastings the room was pretty split between people who love and hate this loose leaf tea, and the things we all had in common was that we adored this flavour. It’s very well balanced. You can taste the black tea, and the aromatic citrusy pop of the bergamot, and definitely the vanilla and cream. In fact, time and time again we all agreed that this was basically the love child of an Earl Grey and a cream soda. Pretty literally a tea pop.

What!? A tasting note for something other than advent teas!?

I just wanted to quickly log this one even though I don’t really have much extra to add here because I drank a can of it at our office holiday pastry today and I know if I don’t pop it in here to Steepster that this will be an easy one to forget about.

Smooth blue raspberry and black currant! I love that the RTD is stevia free since the LLT of this blend is heavy on the stevia. It’s a much more enjoyable way to enjoy the berry flavour of this blend to my palate.
